"It's Rock 'N'
Roll History!"
Slash and Scott Weiland
unveil Velvet Revolver
Former Guns N' Roses guitarist
Slash and Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott
Weiland have spoken out about their new
supergroup, Velvet Revolver.
"To watch the chemistry between these
players, it's pretty amazing and special
for me to be a part of it," says Weiland
of the band, which also features former
GN'R bassist Duff McKagen and drummer Matt
Sorum, plus ex-Wasted Youth guitarist Dave
Kushner. "It's like being connected
to rock n' roll history"
Adds Slash: "Weiland is awesome. He's
a great singer and the music just sounds
unique. We just fit together as a band."
Weiland refused to speak about his recent
arrest for possession of narcotics, but
he did shed some light on the current status
of band Stone Temple Pilots.
"We've never officially broken up,"
he reveals, "but it looks like it's
a very, very, very extended hiatus."
Velvet Revolver played their very first
gig last Thursday at the El Rey Theatre
in Los Angeles, in front of a specially
invited audience. They performed a selection
of covers, including the Sex Pistols 'Bodies'
and Nirvana's 'Negative Creep' as well as
ferocious versions of STP's 'Sex Type Thing'
and GN'R's 'It's So Easy' .
