Things that get the bile rising in the golden throat of Velvet Revolver vocalist Scott Weiland...

Korn
"Jonathon Davis' 'anti-corporate crusade' is such a bunch of bullshit. Stone Temple Pilots were once on the same label as Korn and all that movement is about is fucking getting paid. It is the whole rap mentality. Anything where those bands are trying to sound punk rock is a load of fucking shit and I will fucking vomit all over them. There is nothing punk rock about that band. We are a band of retaliation to the fucking white, jock-rock, sexist machoisms of the late '90s. The nu-metal
morons who confused rock n' roll with WWF. They were blasphemy."

Rehab
"Okay, let's talk about rehab. In rehab you are taken away from your life. You just do what you have to do. There are only so many times that you can really get something out of it. I have been in so many times I could fucking run one of those things, so it is basically like doing time in jail for me. It's not jail, but for me rehab has been like learning to do time. Uh... Look, I'm not here to talk about rehab. I'm a rock star, we shouldn't have to talk about things like that,"

Spam
"What? Yes, I do mean the meat. There is nothing right with it. Period."

Sexism
"Those young boys who are sexist, male macho kids are the same boys who play in those nu-metal bands who don't do anything about the fact that there is violence that goes on in their mosh-pits, when women are being manhandled and their crotches are being grabbed and their tops are being ripped off and their panties are being ripped off! Those kids just grow up and run the country and it gets carried over again, and again, and again, and again."

Stone Temple Pilots
"There was a lot of jealousy and a lot of envy towards me being the focal point. There were other people who used and abused as well, but I was always the scapegoat and because of that there were a lot of resentments that went back and forth and it just made things really muddy, it just muddied things up a lot."

White corporate males
"So, we are onto the teenage rapists. White corporate males have a responsibility to teach younger boys. They are the ones who should be teaching their sons better values. They are the ones who should be carrying the torch. Instead the sparks fly and the sparks fly downward and the sparks end up becoming torches as their sons get older. Those sons become men and those
men carry the same torches. And so it gets passed on from generation to generation."

America's racial divide
"LA is as liberal as a city can get. Although we had our explosion in the riots, for the most part it is a cosmopolitan city. But there is a dark underbelly in LA like there is a definite dark current that runs through the whole country. America tries to portray itself as the land of the free and the home of the brave, but there is a very white, male-dominated, racist, sexist, homophobic side to America."

Censorship
"I notice it everywhere. It is a fucking atrocity. It is just insane. It is the same side that is the white corporate side of America that now is trying to censor everything that I am saying. I have dealt with more censorship in the last 90 days of putting this record together - doing the press and videos, having to modify lyrics for (US department stores) Target and K-Mart and Wal-Mart - than I have in the last 10 years of being in Stone Temple Pilots. That really says a lot for the land of the free and the home of the brave, doesn't it?"
