Last updated: October 13, 2004
Credits: Thanks go out to Ciro from www.velvet-revolver.org, who did this interview with VR producer/engineer Douglas Grean and submitted it to the site.

1) Q: I read on your website that you had lots of crazy adventures with VR during US tour, how has been your experience with the band in Europe??
- A: We had a great time in Europe. The fans and crowds for the gigs were amazing. The band played great. Everybody was having a blast!

2) Q: As said I know that you was with VR during their US and Euro Tour, now that both tours are finished what is your opinion on their concerts??
- A: The concerts keep getting better. They were good to start on the US tour but things really got amazing in Europe.

3) Q: I'm curious and you have seen many shows of VR, according to you what are the best performances of the band until today??
  - A: My personal opinion is that the London show was the best I've ever seen. But there are many many gigs that were probably just as good. That's a hard question to answer because everyones experience is slightly different.

4) Q: I know from the news on your website that you are recorded shows of VR for an upcoming live CD to be released in the future, but according to you will be released a DVD of a their concert??
- A: There was a film crew at the show in Houston. The taped the concert in HD format for release as a Live DVD. But I'm not sure what the schedule is for that release.

5) Q: We know that you have played keyboards on all ballads of "Contraband": "Fall To Pieces", "You Got No Right" and "Loving The Alien", have you played live keyboards on "Fall To Pieces" sometime??

- A: No. We have discussed it but I have not actually played that song live with the band.

6) Q: Moreover we know that the band has performed live all songs of "Contraband" except two ballads: the beautiful "You Got No Right" (performed live once) and the sad "Loving The Alien", why??
- A: I think they are planing to play them soon. It's really about making live arrangements for those songs and practicing them. The schedule has been so hectic that they have not had an opportunity to work those songs up yet for live performance.

7) Q: The concerts of VR are awesome, what are your favourite songs performed live by VR?? And why??
- A: I like Fall To Pieces and Illegal I. Fall To Pieces is just a great dramatic song and Illegal I because they really kick out the jams.

8) Q: The VR is a rock n' roll band and you have seen them to close, do you think that the chemistry in the band is hard??
- A: Well I'm not sure exactly what you mean by this. The chemistry between band members is good. They are all friends and have a good time playing and hanging out. The music is of course very heavy. And they are very hard and loud in concert.

9) Q: During the latest shows of VR in Europe the guitarist Izzy Stradlin joined the band on the stage for a cover of the GN'R's songs "Used To Love Her" and "It's So Easy", what is your opinion on the chemistry between the band and Izzy??
- A: Izzy is the coolest guy. Everyone loves that guy. He is just so laid back. He just wants to play. He just likes to get up and jam for the sheer fun and love of playing music. And I think that's great.

10) Q: Scott is an amazing rock frontman and you know him very well, what do you think of his voice and performance on stage during VR's tour in USA and Europe??
- A: Scott's singing of these songs live is awesome. I mean what more can I say about that?

11) Q: Do you think that VR will change the setlist during their next live tour?? If yes, according to you what songs will be added??
- A: I think there will be changes but can't say for sure what will change.

12) Q: We know that the band has recorded some great covers: "Negative Creep" (Nirvana), "Surrender" (Cheap Trick), "Tie Your Mother Down" (Queen), "No More, No More" (Aerosmith), what is your favourite??
- A: Personally I love Surrender. It was a real favorite of mine when I was a kid.

13) Q: In the last months, Velvet Revolver have collaborate with others artists to record new songs or covers??
- A: No there have not been any collaborations. There have been some people sitting in at gigs and stuff. But no writing with outside people that I know of.

14) Q: I forgot the song "Dirty Little Thing" that the band wrote with the guitarist Keith Nelson of Buckcherry, what do you think of it??
- A: Damn, I did'nt even know that guy co-wrote that song. They must have wrote the music for that before Scott was involved cause I never met that guy. And I got involved in VR right when Scott did. I do know that the band wrote a lot of the music on the record before Scott joined. He then wrote words and melodies to their tracks. So I guess that's how that happened.

15) Q: What song of "Contraband" do you want as third single of VR?? And why??
- A: I like Big Machine for the next single. Or You got no right, but I doubt they'd release 2 ballads in a row.

16) Q: I bought the single "Slither" released in UK on July (2 CD set), so I noticed that the Pink Floyd cover "Money" on the first CD is very different from that of The Italian Job Soundtrack, why? Then I read on the the second CD that Set Me Free (mixed by you) has been recorded live at the El Rey Theatre, is it true? And there is the possibility to listen to the others songs performed live by VR at the El Rey Theatre in 2003 as B-Side in the future?
- A: We used a different mix of "Money" then was put out on the Italian Job soundtrack. It's the same recording but a different mix. The "Set Me Free" B-side from that single was actually recorded at the Dallas (Tx) show in May or June. The only thing that has been released from the El Rey show I'm pretty sure is "Bodies". I don't know if they are planing to release more of the El Rey show or not.
