Chronology:

  2007:

March 16: Scott Hosted "We Rock Hip Hop" at The Mansion in Miami. There is very limited information on this event, which included special guest DJ Rocktakon.

March 15: Slash made a surprise appearance with southern rockers Blackbery Smoke at the Hi Lo in Austin, TX. According to LAist, Slash walked on stage to play a trio of cover songs — "Honky Tonk Women", "Feel Like Makin' Love", and "Highway To Hell".

March 12: VR perform two songs at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony for Van Halen. They honored both David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar by playing a song from their respective eras — 1978's "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", and a shorter rendition of "Runaround" from 1991. It would be an understatement to say that some drama ensued when VR was asked to perform without DLR. Frontman Scott Weiland explained the ensuing controversy:

"We were asked to perform. Kinda what happened was, he wanted to sing the song 'Jump.' We felt from an artistic standpoint, and I'm being totally honest with you, that it wasn't a song we felt comfortable with. We don't have keyboards. To bring a keyboard on stage wouldn't work for us. We said we'd do "Jamie's Cryin'" or "You Really Got Me," and he was adamant that wasn't okay."

March 3: According to Matt on Camp Freddy Radio, Velvet Revolver finished the last mix of Libertad.

February 26: Dave posted a message on his site, stating that the band finished recording 'Libertad':

"Hey everyone, well.... Its finally here. The last day in the studio was yesterday ....sniff.... sniff.... and now all that's left to do is finish mixing. I can't even express to u people how f%@$n awesome it sounds !!!!! All the tracking is done. Just some last min vox and finish mixing. Its gonna be a good one!"

February: European Festivals and venues are starting to announce ticket sales for events including Velvet Revolver. It looks like there's a European Tour shaping up for the month of June. More and more song titles are dripping in from interviews and studio footage.

February 10: Slash jammed with the Black Eyed Peas on "Let's Get It Started' at Avalon in Hollywood. The Black Eyed Peas threw a benefit concert for their Peapod Foundation, which helps underprivileged children around the world. This year's effort raised funds for the band's Peapod Music and Arts Academy, an educational center that will serve foster children in inner-city L.A. Other guests included Wyclef and John Legend.

February 2: Slash makes a guest appearance in Latin pop star Paulina Rubio's new video for her single 'Nada Puede Cambiarme'. The song itself, the second single from the Mexican singer's 2006 Spanish-language album 'Ananda', also features guitar work from Slash.

February 1: The band has been selected by John Varvatos, the man behind the award-winning clothing brand, to be the face of the brand's spring 2007 ad campaign, which was created by New York agency Yard, features photography by music documentarian Danny Clinch.

January 17: Slash has been inducted into the Hollywood's RockWalk yesterday night at Sunset Boulevard. The whole band was there to support Slash and Duff gave a short speech about Slash. Congratulations to Slash!

Janaury 9: Dave posted the following message on his site about the second week of recording:

"Record Two, week.... uuhhhhh... not sure. Sorry for the lack of info kids (holidays and all). Hope everyone had a great Xmas & New Years. Mine was pretty chill. Anyway, the guitars are going amazingly well !!!!!!!

I can't even put into words how excited I am and how great its sounding ! Slash's tones on this record are really goin places they haven't gone before & Brendans really helped me play and sound even better than I already do ( who'da thought it ws possible!).

Seriously, Brendans really great at helping me find my vision and also pointing me in directions I wouldn't even think of on my own. Boy o boy.... Things are really shaping up !!!!"

January: VR posts a new video message on their official site. The video, running slightly over one-and-a-half minute, shows the band as they are writing and playing in the studio. We also get a sneak peek at Scott's lyric book, which shows a working song title 'Messages They Left' and the lyrics "Radar signal seeking you but finding nothing at all / Got a problem got a sinking feeling / Call out the cavalry, there's something wrong". More South American tour dates are being added for April. It looks like VR are going to play dates with Aerosmith.
