Thanks to Richard Bradley: Looking back on the show, 21 months later and all I can say is "wow". VR are truly one of the finest bands I have ever had the pleasure of seeing live. Great presence, sounded excellent, nice interaction with the crowd... superb, really. Scott Weiland is a man both in touch with his audience and at the same time completely holding dominion over them. A magnificent performance and I look forward to seeing them again when they tour to promote Libertad.
Thanks to Harrison: The show was fucking amazing, I was right at the front and had some tosser and his girlfriend telling me and me mate to move. And then I got punched in the back just as I turned round to grab him. Fucking security pulled me out.. The show was awesome though can't wait to see Scott again cya.
Thanks to Howay Th Toon: Amazin!!! My first ever gig and I get to see the best guitarists of all time. Somehow managed to push my way right to the front centre just in time for Duff n Slash goin at it with backs to each other. Lost phone, ripped jeans, ripped t-shirt n spent all me money, all worth it just to see these gods, who didn't disappoint. Plz plz pleeeez come back again on the next tour.
Thanks to K8 Rox: They were so good I think I came like 10 times. It was fucking awesome. They were the best band I've seen in a long time better then Green Day and the same as Alice Cooper (no one can be better then Alice he is the grandad of rock afther ZZ Top that is). Anyway they all rock and if Duff and Scott fancy a threesome kates always here.
Thanks to Mike and Alix: It was fucking mint, we were at the front, right in front off Slash, on the right it was better than Hammersmith in September, we got some cool photos we even shared a pint of Newcastle Brown with Matt.
Thanks to Rye from Whitehaven: Fuckin absolutely fan-fuckin-tastic, I''ve seen many top bands and the Velvet Revolvers pissed on them all. Proper magic.
Thanks to Stephen 'Velvet Revolver' Jackson: What can I say???? Travellin from Cumbria with 5 of my mates who I'm in a band with we were really lookin forward to seein 'Velvet Revolver'. And we weren't disappointed. When we got there and saw the equipment on stage we were in awe!!! The Datsuns equipment seemed a little small compared to the gods equipment. The Datsuns were good but when Velvet Revolver came on with the strobe lights and Sucker Train Blues what an opening it was! The surge forward in the standin area showed how much the crowd wanted to just get a bit closer to them. Slash came on with his trademark fag in his mouth well hangin out after the announcement had just said that the building was a non smoking building but Slash showed them who was boss!!! It was my 1st rock concert and now it definately won't be the last!! The drum solo was awesome but it felt really short but hey ya don't get it all!!!! The energy in the arena was awesome! When Fall To Pieces started the carpet of lighters was class!!! I was roughly 7m from the stage and to get that close to my heros wanted me to give everything I can to be able to have all of that!!! It was amazing. Count me in for next time!!! Like 1 of my bands songs that we play Keep On Rockin In A Free World!!!!!
Thanks to S: I went to the Newcastle show and I thought it was fucking amazing and the sound was quality. People who keep sending messages in saying your sound was crap is because you were probably being pussys and were at the back being boring bastards. It's a rock and roll gig and you are meant to have a shit hot time. So stop your moaning and be thankful that you saw legends. rock and roll
Thanks to Wardi: A huge disappointment. The sound was appalling. Could not hear the singer or Slash lead guitar. I hope the sound engineer has sorted this out as the band will lose a lot of fans for the next tour. Was it my position in the arena or am I correct. Does anybody agree with me. By the way the album is fantastic, a breath of fresh air for us oldies.
Thanks to Sarah: It was the best night of my whole fukin life! Esp when they did Mr Brownstone and when Matt Sorum gave me his drumstick!!!(and when my friend got Duff's towel) And Slash was just absoloutely amazing - and he looked gorgeous too! Perla you lucky thing :P
Thanks to Danielle: It was amazing!!! I deffo wanna go see them again!!Brilliant atmosphere.
Thanks to Alice: Amazing.
We had queued since about 10.45 that morning (!) so we were right at the front when we went in :)
The Datsuns were a good support act, I thought, and they kinda worked us all up for the show.
Velvet Revolver were supposed to be on at 9, but the security guard we'd been talking to said there was some delay problem in them getting there or something, so they started at 9.45, but not a problem. It was well worth the wait!
This is the 2nd time I've seen them and the set list was much better this time. It was just great. And to top it off, after they were leaving for the first encore, Matt threw one drumstick into the crowd, then came over and handed me the other. Amazing. Of course, then the mob started out around me trying to grab the drumstick. Got it back tho'. ;)
My friend caught Slash's cigarrette end when it flew out of his mouth, which was pretty cool as well.
All in all an amazing gig. I can't wait to see them again lol.
Thanks to James: Fuckin hell man they kicked ass!!! The mosh pit was ragin with bottles flyin everywhere was a great all round show!! Not being a great fan of The Datsuns, I saw them more as a time delay to let Velvet Revolver get their shit ready, the Datsuns were a let down but Velvet Revolver made up for it!
Duff- Well amazing bassist best ever in the world!! He was talkin to us in the crowd and havin a bloody gud time! Not a wrong note in the whole show! He was runnin round with more energy than a bottle of lucozade!
Matt- Hell yeh! Matt rocks he is the best drummer in the world! His drum solo was well wicked it shook your body so bad it hurt!! He even had a bottle or 9 of newcastle's finest!
Scott- Well before the show I wasn't a Scott Weiand fan I thought he would be shit live but I was proven wrong! Every word was as clear as day and I loved the use of the megaphone into the mic! He's a great frontman and a hell of a live singer!
Dave- Well to be honest I don't think much of Dave but after the show I think I have changed ma mind! He is a great rhythm player and his little wah-wah solo was amazin!
The Slash! Oh my god! Slash, the real Slash less than a metre away from me playin his heart out for our entertainment!! He had six signature cabinets which were stunnin and his Les Pauls were jus beautiful! I also loved his signature 'crossroads' doubleneck guitar! He was talkin to us loads and his solos were great, especially the one with the talkbox and the clouds one the screens! And that boxer guy was a great touch to the show aswell during Illegal I! At the start, Slash stood on the speakers at the front and someone lobbed a bottle and hit his guitar which everyone thought he would be pissed off at but he just laughed about it!!!! Hell yeah Slash is the greatest ever guitar player and stage performer on this planet!
Adam Day- I saw Adam sortin out Slash's guitars at the start and I shouted to ya but you didn't hear! It's great that he's stuck with wateva Slash has done for so many years keep on rockin dudes.
Velvet Revolver fuckin rock come back to Newcastle soon pleeezzz!!
Thanks to Sally: Gods amongst men! Absolutely amazing, even thinking about it gives me the biggest buzz! The most amazing natural high one can ever have! I squeal every time I think about it! I can't wait til they come back, I wanna buy all the tickets next time so they play to me and me only!
Thanks to Kev: Who needs Axl? That's what I say. They were amazing they looked great and Slash was as brilliant as ever. Their heart is in this band which you couldn't say it was for a while towards the end of Guns N Roses.
Thanks to RB: Good gig but have to agree with some of the comments above about the poor sound quality in the arena - not a criticism of Velvet Revolver but the arena lends no fidelity to the sound, I went hoping to see a virtuoso performance by Slash but his lead was mostly, apart from Fall To Pieces, drowned out by the assault of chugging rythm and bass - when The Darkness played the arena the same could be said. Even the Download festival sound quality was better - harsh criticism considering it's bloody outdoors.
Before Sat my dream was to see Velvet Revolver, now it's is to see Velvet Revolver in a smaller venue with a decent soundman who has actually seen a mixing desk before the band go on stage.
Thanks to Stu: Greatest gig ever. Highlights were Fall to Pieces, with everyone holding a lighter, absolutely magical. Set Me Free was insane. Mr. Brownstone was amazing. Slither, what a way to finish the show. I can't single anyone band member out they all where absolutely amazing, they where all on top form. The crowd was great, the band was great, go and see them.
Thanks to Dave: Absolutely fantastic I had a seating ticert but I didn't care it was awesome!! I didn't get a t-shirt I didn't have the money. :( Still a great show.
Thanks to Rod: I agree with everyone else great show, bad sound etc. but did anyone else see them last time around? I saw them at Manchester and I've got to say that this time around I thought Weiland looked and sounded terrible. I really hope he hasn't fallen off the wagon because his eyes looked a bit glazed and I thought the speech he gave during the middle of Sex Type Thing (I think) was shambling and frankly a bit embarrassing. The people standing near to me seemed to agree too...
Thanks to Chris: That was amazing - the acoustics in the arena were crap and have a reputation for it but Velvet Revolver rose above the crappiness and rocked like the gods they are. I was almost in tears when they played It's So Easy, it was awesome. The solo before Used To Love Her was mesmerising and then the drum solo before Mr Brownstone was amazing. Matt even came out with a bottle of Newcy Brown. I was quite near the front but I didn't catch anything thrown out.
The Datsuns were ok but I would rather have waited outside for Scott Weiland's autograph then watch them! This show proved that Slash is the ultimate God of all men and should be knighted "Sir Slash".
Thanks to Stephen: I thought the show was absolutely amazing. I would give it 150 out of 100 if possible. By far the best band I have seen this year and I have seen a hell of a lot.
Thanks to Micksea241: What can I say about the gig, apart from it was fucking awesome. The support band were totally shite, I just couldn't get into them. As soon as Velvet Revolver started, a little late 9.30 start, instead of 9pm, but that just made more better. Everyone was on a high from the first beat to the last. I was at the backin the seats and I was just blown away by the sound. Everything was crystal clear and spot on. The video walls was a very good idea and the special effect of Slash with the red clouds was amazing. The backdrops of the Velvet Revolver signature and Velvet Revolver was also great. Everyone blew the roof that the Arena that night. Like what most people have said what a way to start the year. I'm still on a high and it's gonna be a long time before I see another gig like that to match. I hope Velvet Revolver don't do what most bands have been doing after one gig and miss Newcastle out. I hope to see ya on the next tour.
Thanks to Mentalandy: People queued alongside the arena in the freezing cold weather waiting to pile in for the show. As the doors opened fans rushed into the arena trying to get as close as they could to see the band. Mexican waves flowed around the arena as the fans waited for the show to begin. As the lights went out, the crowd were screaming and as the strobe lighting began you could see the band slowly emerging from the right hand side of the stage. Bassist Duff McKagan stood on the monitors at the front-centre of the stage, flashing in the strobe lighting, the rest of the band was spread out across the stage. As the intro riff for Sucker Train Blues started playing the crowd were screaming and when the song kicked in the whole arena went crazy, including the band. You could tell that it was going to be a fucking brilliant night. A few songs into the set, the black backdrop fell and down came a huge Velvet Revolver logo in lights, with the band playing in front it looked simply brilliant. Scott Weiland talked about how they do it for love and how you have the women, the drugs and the alcohol, but the only reason they are there doing it is because of love. He then went on to introduce the next song, Fall To Pieces, when the song started; the crowd had their lighters held in the air and the whole arena looked amazing lit up with flames. During Sex Type Thing, the band paused in the middle, and Scott said, "Rock 'n Roll is about energy, do you want to feel energy? Do you want some motherfucking energy!? I'll show you energy!" and then screamed as loud as he could and as long as he could into the microphone as the band carried on with the song. Overall, the show was amazing. The band was on top form and they really are something special. It was a fucking amazing night that I'll never forget and I can't wait for the next opportunity I get to see them.
Thanks to Beast: Having read the other reviews I felt obliged to write this. Yes the band were tight and put on a great show but their sound engineer needs shot. The levels were all over the place. The guitar solos were struggling to break through and Scott's microphone could have been turned up a notch as well. I saw them at the Carling Academy last year and that blew this gig away.
Is it just me or has every gig they've performed over in the UK at least 1 review on this page has critised the sound????
Thanks to Raindog: We Geordies like to Rock 'N' Fuckin' Roll and what a brilliant way to start the year! This is the best gig I have ever been to (and let me tell you I've been to a few in my time!). I think all the finer elements of this gig have been discussed in earlier reviews, but what I will say is, next time you guys come back, bring a decent support act! The Datsuns sucked!!! I think the sound guys must like The Distillers so maybe you should bring them! Now thats a show I'd give my right nut to see!!! Till the next tour! Adios X
Thanks to Ian: Velvet Revolver were amazing, best gig ever! Anyone got a set list was too busy bouncing around to remember it! Definitely must see!!!!
Thanks to El: Absolutly amazing, the best concert I have ever seen. The best bit was when Slash took off his shirt, still as hot as ever. His top hat got one of the biggest cheers of the night and when they played "It's So Easy" the crowd went mental. Thanks for a great show Velvet Revolver please come back to Newcastle again.
Thanks to Mike: As I'm only 19 and only got into Guns N Roses after they split it was a dream come true to see my musical idols, all be it in an all new exciting band, this night will stay in my memories forever. Even though the sound quality in the arena was not great, the atmosphere was electric, credit goes to Velvet Revolver and all the crowd, everyone rocked.
Thanks to Lowza: What can I say that was rock and f'n roll alright. Scott's vocals are truly amazing and you truly do feel he feels what's his singing. Despite what some thought his speechs weren't annoying they were inspiring, only true rock gods could pull that off. Slash was amazing as I expected and so were all of Velvet Revolver. A truly amazin show that probably won't be beating. Best songs were Slither, Big Machine, Mr Brownstone, You've Got No Right and Fall To Pieces. Hey and you guys just down from us that started the Mexican Waves you rock. I was the dude in the Green Day T-shirt.
I forgot to add about how amazing it was when Scott did that 2nd speech and then after just let rip with this amazing howl. It sent chills down my spine.
Thanks to Sarah McAleavy: Wow!!! It was so awesome. I've never seen or heard anything like it. Not only are they all outstanding musicians, as we all know! They all know how to put on a hell of a show. Scott knows how to work the crowd and he did it for the whole show. Slash, Duff and Dave are all mesmorising when they play and Matt! When he came on stage to do his drum solo everyone went wild, I always knew that Matt was talented, but trust me, you haven't heard or seen anything until you see that man in action.
The whole band could have been together their whole lives, the chemistry is electric. Scott is amazing, the way he moves, sings, talks to the crowd, he really is one of the best frontmen ever!
I advise anyone who hasn't seen Velvet Revolver to do so! Wipe any illusions of previous band from your minds, because this is something so much more.
Thanks to Wilcox: Fukin wow! That was one of the best (if not the best) gigs ever!!! I was kinda expecting the turn up and play attitudes that some big bands do but I'm sooooooo glad it wasn't! Even after 6 hours work I had to use up some energy and get 2 the front and I'm glad I did, caught Scott's bottle of gatorade at the end of the show and even though it went in my eyes I couldn't give a toss! Loved the covers although I didn't know all the words and everyone else seemed to! It's hard to pick out a song that was better than all the rest in my opinion but at a push it would be Used To Love Her, Slither, Do It For The Kids or You Got No Right! And the first encore was class, loved the whole relaxed sitty down part!
Thanks to RJ: How Good Was That?!?!?! The Datsuns kicked off the show really well, MF From Hell being my personal favourite from them (was my favourite song for about 6 months a few years ago), but before they had started they were off and the wait began. Velvet Revolver were due to be on at 9, well, 9 came and went and no Slash, Duff, Scott, Matt or Dave. As a whole the crowd tried to pass the time with what seemed like a never ending Mexican wave (rock and roll ... :P ), good at first, but it just kept coming back again and again and again! Eventually, the lights went down and over the loudspeaker we were told, 'From Hollywood...Velvet Revolver' (like the end bit of the start of Bodies, on the red copies of Contraband...you now what I mean). That was when I got my first glimpse of my hero's, Duff kicking things off from the top of the amps at the front, soon to be joined by Scott and Slash as Sucker Train Blues started the show, then I think it was Do It For The Kids, and then Big Machine (first 3 tracks of the album too, which was pretty cool imo) but I might be wrong. They did three Guns n Roses songs, which was incredible, as GnR were/are my favourite band of all time, but I never got to see them live, so It's So Easy first was incredible, and then the next GnR song Used To Love Her, which started, if I remember rightly, with just the three ex Gunners on stage (Matt playing the marraccas like a pro!) which was pretty special, especially as I haven't yet got GnR Lies yet (the album I am led to believe Used To Love Her is on) and had only heard the song a couple of times before. The third and final GnR song they did was Mr. Brownstone, which was just unbelievably good, possibly the best song of the night (although Slither and Fall To Pieces are soo close it's too hard to call really) was the 2nd last song of the night. They finished with the first Velvet Revolver song I and probably most of the rest of the crowd (who were superb as well by the way) heard, Slither, which was the icing on the cake really.
Dave Kushner, built like a tank, I never expected him to be so good to be honest, but he was honestly excellent, looking like he was constantly in a world of his own, he was excellent. Matt commented a couple of times on Newcastle Brown, which drew some pretty big cheers from the pissed Geordies, of which there were a few (always good to see), must have got thrown about 15 drum sticks on the night, throwing them away to the crowd at any and every opportunity, the drum solo he did was great too, though not being a drummer I probably didn't appreciate it as much as others. Duff, he didn't say too much, but the punk rock attitude really shone through, getting as close to the front row as he possibly could, up on the amps at every chance he got, and he opened the show so well too, a true legend in every sense of the word. I didn't know what to expect when it came to Scott, having never really heard much STP before, but he was on top form on Saturday, absolutely outstanding, so much charisma, so much attitude and just looking into his eyes you thought you could have been looking into the eyes of a psychopath, but that's not what it is, you were looking into the eyes of a man lost in his music. When he spoke to us you just knew he was speaking from the heart, not like other front men who just shout at you and then stand there, Scott spoke about things he surely though were important, Love and the world, his new year, new life etc. And to top it off I'm sure I held eye contact for a good 2-3 seconds with the great man...well I was pleased anyway :)
Finally, Slash, words cannot describe the incredible talent, charisma, passion and intensity of this man. My personal hero, a God of rock, the solo with the voice box was just amazing, incredible, awesome, none of those come close to describing how good it was, a real, truly special moment. The man just looked pleased to be playing, smiling, talking to the crowd, and just blowing us all out of the water. The man is a hero, a legend, the most incredible musician I will ever see, the most incredible rock musician in my opinion that has ever lived, I think most of us there already knew that, but on Saturday, Slash proved it time after time after time.
After seeing that, I really can't see any point in going to another gig again ever, they will all pale in comparison. I just hope to God that Velvet Revolver come back soon. Can't wait for the new album, then surely they will do another tour to promote it...please.

Thanks to Jo: The gig was absolutely amazing! I'm still in a state of shock. Slash was awesome. Fall To Pieces and Mr. Brownstone were the highlights.
Thanks to Dann m/: The show absolutely rocked!!! There's no doubt about it. When Velvet Revolver came on I was soo amazed! I just remember turnin to my mates shouting "there's Slash!!!!" It was truley great. Then Duff stood on the box at the front of the stage looking really kewl and he turned to look at our side of the arena. I shouted and to my suprise he smiled at me. Was amazin. The show was unmissable. After Scott's speech on love as Fall To Pieces began I turned to look at the crowd and saw all the lighters in the air. Wow now that's an amazin sight. Was soo kewl. Before the gig I was a big fan now I worship them. They are truely heros!!!
Thanks to Generation Next: Screw Ally's review, everything seemed absolutly amazing to me. Fucking loved every single moment of the whole gig, missed the first support band but The Datsun's didn't sound bad at all. As soon as Sucker Train Blues blasted the arena the whole place, including myself erupted. Fall To Pieces was just absolutly amazing, no words to describe it. Every fucker in the arena had a lighter in hand, you really just had to witness it. Mr. Brownstone owned everything, fucking great to actually here a few Guns 'N Roses (and Stone Temple Pilot) songs live and in person.
Shout out to Cameron and Amy for along with me, getting the fuck kicked out of them.
Thanks to Cath: Omg!!! I went to the gig last nite and I have to admit I was a little unsure about whether Velvet Revolver were actually any good but how more wrong could I have been proved?! It was the most intense experience, when ever Slash came to the front of the stage the standing audience around me were in a state of shock, everybody was transfixed on this incredible guitar legend and I don't think I'll ever feel that sense of admiration for someone by so many people ever again! Scott Weiland was also really great he really got the crowds going and put on a great, energetic, vivid and awe inspiring performance.
The show and set list itself was excellent, Slither was left to the end, a superb finale, the crowd went wild as I'm sure many people thought they'd forgot to play it or left it out completley!
Set Me Free, Sucker Train Blues, Big Machine and Fall To Pieces were among the best, absolutely incredible, and I would tell any one who doesn't know whether to buy a ticket, get one now!!!You well regret it forevaaaaaar if you don't!!!! Enjoy!
Thanks to Ellie: Last nite, well...fuckin amazing. Although I ain't keen on the sound in the arena like, but it was still fab. It was great having Slash talk to the crowd as well. I saw these guys in September and Slash never said much so it was a bonus this time round. They only played one GN'R song when I saw them (Used To Love Her) so to finally hear Mr Brownstone and It's So Easy...well words can't really describe how I felt. Amazing view I had as well, not as good as last time (front heh). Scott's energy is sooo amazing and the chemistry between Slash and Duff. I loved the lights...and the screens when Slash was doin his solos with the red clouds...wow.
Thanks to Donna: What can I say? I was completely amazed! The legends that had dominated most of my conscious life did not disappoint! Velvet Revolver are the best live band in the world!
The energy that they had was astounding. Scott Weiland commanded the stage and put the whole audience in a trace like state. Admittedly, until last night I was not a Scott fan, I found him egotistical which immediately put him into the 'Axl category' in my brain. I now feel like I should take back every word I uttered about Mr Weiland as he is a true showman. He worked the crowd into a frenzy and slithered around, occasionally screaming into a megaphone like the stage was his kingdom.
The crowd calmed down for Fall to Pieces. As the sea of yellow light lit up the sky, it became obvious why free Velvet Revolver lighters were being handed out as we entered the arena. Slash introduced Illegal I as "a dark song for us all" and Scott screamed out the lyrics as images of a boxing match were displayed on the big screen. The highlight for me was Big Machine, the guitars sounding industrial and far better than on Contraband.
Slash, as expected was faultless. Duff's bass was so resonant that it pounded against my chest. Dave was electrifying with his riffs and his energy on stage. He's great character and never seemed to stay still throughout the whole set.
The round of applause for the evening definitely has to go to Matt (and I must say, he looks amazing!). After a short break, he returned to the drums and held up a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale to the camera, which of course gained a huge cheer from the crowd. After a brief drum solo he started to play the intro to You Could Be Mine, to which everyone went crazy, but then he slipped into the intro to Mr Brownstone which made the crowd go doubly crazy.
Reviews for previous dates have complained about that it was too loud. There's no denying that it was loud, but that didn't have any impact on the overall sound, no instrument drowned out another and the lyrics were very clear.
After a fourteen year wait, I finally got to see Duff, Slash and Matt live, something I never thought I'd accomplish when GnR broke up. I can't wait until they come back over to England. The whole evening was absolutely amazing and although I've been a avid fan of Guns n Roses since I was eight years old, Velvet Revolver have pushed them off their pedestal and with Scott Weiland as the frontman, all I can think is, Axl who?
Thanks to penguinmaister: Man, that was awesome, the Datsuns were godawful though.
They played some awesome songs, Sucker Train Blues sounds awesome live.
The use of the loudspeaker through the microphone was a nice touch, althought Scott's little mini rants made little sense and were as boring as hell, thankfully he said only two.
Dave and Slash's solo war was pretty awesome, as was Matt's drum solo, he didn't throw any drumsticks near me though, I knew I should have pretended to be Irish.
Anyways an awesome gig.
Thanks to Din: Wow! What a fucking immense gig I will so have to go again when they come again!!!!! Guys you fucking rule loved you from start to finish!!! PS Duff I love you!!!! Scott you are a fucking god!!!!! Can't wait to see you again!!!!! Lots of love.
Thanks to Smoggie: Fuckin Awesome. Slash is a fuckin god. Theres not else to say. They blew the fuckin roof of the motherfucker building.
Thanks to Joe: I'll leave someone else to do the setlist cos I can't remember it all.
The gig was great, Slash and Duff were better than I remember them from the GN'R days..they rocked. The atmosphere was electric-the crowd were definitely up for a good time.
I'd never seen Dave and Scott before live..gotta say, Dave played his heart out, he was jumping about like a mad thing all nite. Scott's a great frontman, really made the songs come to life. I wasn't too sure about the spoken sections he did into 2 of the songs. I was standing so close to the speakers my ears were ringing by then.
Matt was as good as ever, although he was a bit cheeky playing the intro to 'You Could Be Mine' going into 'Mr Brownstone'!!
I'll be back to see them when they come back..brilliant. I loved it at the end when Slash said "you lot have been great, it's why we still do this", he looked really happy.
Thanks for a great gig guys, come back soon.
Thanks to Andrew Burrells: I lost Guns N Roses, I found Velvet Revolver!! Opening with the steaming Sucker Train Blues, the Geordie crowd went nuclear...the band seemed a little shocked at the overwhelming response the audience had, in fact, Scott could have stayed behind due to the fact of 17'000 rockers singing every lyric! This gig had more fuel than BP and as much as we loved it, the band seened to love it too. Matt Sorum very cheekily used his interlude time to drum the intros to You Could Be Mine then into Mr Brownstone and chilled himself out with a bottle of Newcastles finest.
Trully fabulous.
Thanks to Dave: (Mexican wave) Show and a half there - they put the Datsuns to shame. Definately a must see act.
Thanks to Ally: Basically what would have been a great show was utterly ruined by shit sound, the arena is noted for it's bad sound but this was beyond a joke I wandered around the arena to various spots but to no avail just differing qualities of dirge and undistinguishable vocals and guitar!
I was not alone in this as I spoke to lots of people outside in the bar area (where lots of people were sitting during the show) to sum up the Datsuns sound was better than Velvet Revolver which has to be a first. The sound man should have been shot with his own and the audiences shite! Highly dissapointing.
Thanks to Geordie: Fucking amazing. They were all great. Really entertained the crowd. Slash fucking rocked. They all did. Played 2 Guns songs. Even the Datsuns rocked. There was a huge cheer for Slash when he brought on his cigarette. I creamed myself when Slither came on.
Thanks to L: What a way to start off the year! The show was amazing and I doubt any gig this year will live up to it. The band clearly gave its all and the crowd loved it. Superb set list. All round great show.
Thanks to Soph: Wow, what can I say apart from that was the best gig ever. They were all fantastic in their own ways. Scott was just mesmerising, I've never seen anything like it before. The stage and screens were great and the big flashing Velvet Revolver signs were really cool. Unfortunately we missed the Datsuns because Velvet Revolver didn't arrive until about 7.30pm and we waited to see them arrive. There were only 4 of us waiting all together and Duff got off the bus first, we shouted him and he turned and waved, then Scott came off and he did the same, Dave walked inside and Slash and Matt sneaked in without us seeing! Scott then came back outside back to the bus and we shouted him and he came over, he signed stuff for us and posed for photographs through the gate, he was lovely. His red hair is great! So then we went into the gig and when the beginning of Sucker Train Blues came on til the end of Slither it was absolutely amazing. Matt's drum solo was really good. Scott made a really good speech before Fall To Pieces and he sang that really good. Personal favourites were Sex Type Thing, Sucker Train Blues and Slither. The crowd was at its best for It's So Easy though which as also great. It was the best night ever! Can't wait for them to come back. Pity I didn't see Slash and the others but seeing Scott made up for it!
