Reviews (26) [ send in your own review/pictures of the Cardiff show ]

Thanks to Abi: Scott, Slash, Duff, Matt and Mike gave it there are at the C.I.A in Cardiff, Wales. With a banner in the back round reading 'Rock n fuckin' roll' this concert was one of the best I've been to yet.

Slash wore his tradmark hat half way through the concert, the crowd went wild as he put it on. Scott's wild moves and Slash's guitar solo prove that all the members of Velvet Revolver still have what it takes to make an amazing band!

Thanks to Clive Newton: I did send in a sort of review a few hours after the show.

It was the setlist as I also saw at the Birmingham NIA but they added the Sex Pistol's Bodies at the end (a tune maybe they should have dusted off for B'ham given the opening line).

The Cardiff IA is about half the size of the Birmingham NIA and the atmosphere was very close and heavy and at the end as the members walked off, Slash said he thanked everyone for a great time.

Awesome show.

Thanks to Rich: My first rock concert, this will be hard to top. I haven't heard many Velvet Revolver songs because I don't own the album, however, I knew I was going to be in for something special. When the light's dimmed and the audience started to scream...IT WAS AMAZING. Scott was brilliant, he's a true showman. Matt played an ace drum solo and was amazing thoughout the night. Dave was brilliant and really got the crowd headbanging. Duff was fantatic, his bassline to the start of "It's so easy" was his best moment. Now we come to God himself..Slash. He was truly amazing thoughout. The crowd was amazing to! You know you are in heaven when you Slash play the "Fall To Pieces" solo. His electric/acoustic part was great as well!

Thanks to Andrew Ford: Velvet Revolver fuckin awesome and The Datsuns were also good. But the bad thing was that Velvet Revolver didn't play Nightrain because that is my fav guitar solo I LOVE Slash!!

Thanks to Tony Ryan: Absolutely brilliant. I've seen a lot of good bands at this arena over the past couple of years and this was the most fun I've had out of the lot! Awesome live band! Where's the DVD!!!

Thanks to revolverbitch: Absolutely brilliant! They sounded great. Slash was amazing and kept the audience entertained! A great live performance! I didn't want it to end!

Thanks to nice n sleazy: The best gig I've been to in my life. Setlist was perfect the guys were stunning as usual especially Duff who happily posed so I could take a rather damn fine picture of him!!! Cheers Duff : )

Thanks to Gary Pascoe: Appears to be the same set as Birmingham, Duff tripped up within 10 seconds of the first song when he ran to the right of the stage, which got a round of applause from the front row when he was flat on his ass! Matt's drums solo was funny as as the end of it he appears to be going into the drum intro to You Could Be Mine, but it changes into Mr Brownstone at the end.

Thanks to Vikki: The show was so intense it was unbelievable. The first band were great but they didn't tell us who they were, they finished in about fourty minutes and left the stage (I really wanted there album). In the distance you could see Slash's hat on the second of his three amps which made everyone go wild! They came on stage and we went wild. Scott Weiland has such an over-whelming stage presence which you don't see anymore in these younger rock bands. It was amazing...he just seemed to love every minute of it, they all did. Scott did tell us he gets orgasams over performing. I flew a thong at Slash in the solo..he just laughed and carried on..didn't pick it up unfortunately but Duff and Dave picked up two of my thongs which made me go wild. They went off for about two minutes, the crowd roared for an oncore. They all came back topless which was extremly sexy but I'd taken my last pic of Slash before he went off so I didn't get any of the sex god naked!!! They drew the show to a close with Slither and finished with the last song on their album sometimes. Best concert I've ever been to. It's gonna have to be something great to top that!!

Thanks to Mani Hammond: Man, Velvet Revolver rock!!!!! It's the first time I seen these guys but been a big fan since the album came out. Unfortunately I missed The Datsuns due to late arrival by train and the stupid times for trains back to Bristol also meant I missed the end off the set. Did they play Mr. Brownstone after the drum solo? What were the songs I missed? Someone fill me in. From what I seen of the show I must say these guys are back rockin (not like there are any other bands quite as rock n roll as these that they can be compared to).

A round of applause to those people in the audience that gave them their well deserved credit as they did put 100% rock into the whole show. Keep rockin!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Ashleigh Cook: OMF!! Absolutely amazing!! Hats off! It really was superb the most amazing thing to grace my eyes, ears and presence!

Thanks to Alex and Rob: The Datsuns were legendary but Velvet Revolver stole the show. Bodies was a good way, such a great night. Scott was on form and Slash was simply on fire with the Set Me Free solo played behing his locks.(aka behind his head) Duff Mckagan looked at me on a regularly basis and if a fat man had not invested in Grolsch I would have caught a plectrum.

Thanks to Gav: Not being much of a fan of either GnR or STP, didn't think I would enjoy the gig much, but was glad to be proved wrong. The Datsuns were ok, but it sounded like one 30 minute long song to me. The setlist for Velvet Revolver was about the same as on previous nights, with You Got No Right being the highlight. Personally, I could have done without Mr. Brownstone, but what do I know?

Thought that Weiland was an excellent frontman, didn't have much time for him before, but am a convert now. Would certainly see them again. The sound man needs to find a new job though..

Thanks to FireBall Paul: The show totally rocked the band was everything I had hoped for and more Slash was amazing. I'm still in shock that one of my biggest idols was there in the flesh it was the greatest thing I have ever expierenced. Every song was played brilliantly, the band was flawless it was just amazing. Thank you Velvet Revolver for such a great performance and come back to Wales as often as you can.

Thanks to Bob: Unbelievable show, Scott was all over the place. The setlist was the same as nights before (pretty much), but they ended with a cover of Sex Pistols' 'Bodies' which was amazing.

Thanks to Gill: The gig was great. Duff stacked it within the first minute of the gig, brilliant stuff though the support act, the Datsuns were dissapointing.

Thanks to Andy: Amazin! Got spittin distance from Slash and managed to get a piece of his towel he threw into the crowd! Awesome performance!

Thanks to Sam Johnston: The suport band were an amazing start to the show and will definitely be a future hit. I personally had a pick thrown at me from Slash whilst crowd surfing. I will never wash again. The lighting was good but the hall was so smoky you could see the beams like strobe lights. They realy got the crowd going by making us cheer then stop and then cheer again.

Thanks to Kyle Keeping: Didn't know the name of the first band but they were very good. Velvet Revolver were amazing and Slash was the s**t.

Slither was great, highlight of the whole night.

Thanks to Julian: What an absolutely awesome gig. Right from the opening of 'Sucker Train Blues' to the last beat of closing Sex Pistols cover, Velvet Revolver rocked the socks off of the Cardiff Arena. Scott is really great front-man, Matt was solid and tight with his grooves and then there was Duff and Slash. Both these guys rocked, they were all over the stage, smiling as they played. Slash made his riffs sound effortless. I'm not sure if this was Slash/Duff/Matt's first visit to Wales, but I sure hope they'll be back. A great night of true 'in-your-face' Rock 'n' Roll.

Thanks to Jonny Rock: I know they were well recieved but I thought the Datsuns were shit....and I never apologize, I'm sorry but that the way I am!!! Velvet Revolver were once again fantastic and played a longer set than when I saw them in Hammersmith last year.

Each and every track was delivered with the energy and aggression that make this band awesome on record and also one of the best live acts around. They looked like rock stars, acted like rock stars and sounded like rock stars. Every girl in the crowd wanted to fuck them and every guy wanted to be them..........

Scott is on another planet, that cat knows how to perform to the max. Slash is still the man. Matt is one cool dude. Dave is soo underated and boy, can he jump!! Duff looked in way too good a shape for what he's been through.

They were a lot more vocal this time with both Slash and particularly Scott talking to the crowd between tunes....and what a wild, wild crowd !! There can surely be no better band on the live circuit right now.

Keep on truckin' MUTHAFUCKA'S

Thanks to Gez: Well what can I say it fucking ruled, that was true rock n roll! It would be hard for any band to top that for me, Slash was amazing couldn't believe my eyes that it was him lol! Duff kicked ass as always, Dave was just great him and Slash doing both doing solos together! That was a treat! Scott was just class, how great of a frontman is this guy, Matt on top form! His drum solo was pretty cool! I enjoyed The Datsuns too but my mates didn't but they were kick ass never the less.

Anyways best gig ever! If you ain't been to see them GO NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Jon: Two words sum this up...'f*cking amazing' the support, I thought, were really good. I didn't know any of the songs they played in their set, but I still thought it was really impressive.

As soon as Velvet Revolver came out though, everyone went nuts and suddenly people who were ten rows back were front row. They opened with Sucker Train Blues and my god it amazing. As the show went on Velvet Revolver continued to be amazing. My personal favourite song was Fall To Pieces, and it was played outstandingly.

AMAZING

Thanks to Nick: Amazing, sound was perfect, support band were real good, the crowd rocked and Velvet Revolver, blew me away innit.

Thanks to Clive Newton: Went to the Cardiff show after seeing the Birmingham show the night before. Cardiff got the same set except they added Bodies at the end. Sort of expected that tune to appear in the Birmingham show as has the opening line 'She was a girl from Birmingham'.

At the end, Slash thanked everyone and said he's had a real good time.

It's quite a small place although rated to hold 7500 when set up as basically standing only (only about half the length of the Birmingham NIA). I think the band got off on the closeness of it all.

Thanks to Hank: Wow what a show - BEST GIG EVER! I do not need to say any more! Ok I do! My god the played Bodies at the end! Amazing. 2 Encores. Duff fell over the cables on the floor during the first song! But he got up and then walked off to give a roadie a telling off! Scott was amazing his eyes are SO wild, Slash was really happy to be playing, Dave was a bit less enthusiastic but he was good. The Datsuns were a great choice for a support act, the lead guitarist had problems with his guitar from the get go, but his guitar tech managed to sort it out in the end.

ALL in all WOW. Amazing light show, great songs, great band, great performance. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS BAND BEFORE THEN MAKE SURE YOU SEE THEM SOON.
