Thanks to Maggie: Velvet Revolver rocked .. they sounded AWESOME LIVE!! They're covers of old GN'R songs were INSANE!! MR. BROWNSTONE was almost sung better by Scott then by Axl! As long as Velvet Revolver keeps doin what they're doin.. there is no comparing their live shows !
Thanks to Zac: I've been a huge fan of Slash and Guns N' Roses for years. Slash is my inspiration and I got the chance to see him with Velvet Revolver and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. They played all but Loving the Alien live, and included a couple GNR songs( Mr. Brownstone, Used To Love Her and It's so Easy), Dave Kushner did a few extended solos with Slash and Scott did a cool keyboard thing on Illegal I song. The show went without a problem and I went home happy. Seeing the three Gunners doing some old material was great and Scott was fucking awesome with the GNR songs. They opened the show with Sucker Train Blues (track 1 on Contraband) and ended on Slither, possibly their most well known song. Slash was still the same guitarist on stage as he was in 1987. They look like a real professional group of musicians and they are. They still have the same old energy, with a few new faces. Everyone that calls themself a GNR fan or Velvet Revolver fan needs to see the ex-Gunners doing it old school. When Slash pulls out that tophat, any true fan flips out. GO SEE Velvet Revolver AND KEEP ROCKIN m/
Thanks to Maggie: Omg the Velvet Revolver concert was the best concert I've EVER seen! And I've seen other big bands like Metallica! The songs were amazing! Me and my friend almost died when Mr. Brownstone started!! Scott almost does a better song singing that song then Axl! I can't wait until the next Velvet Revolver tour to come to Canada!
Thanks to Lara: Velvet Fuckin Revolver!!!!! I love Velvet Revolver to death. I am a huge fan of STP and I like GnR too so combining the two bands is amazing. Velvet Revolver is my favourite band and I love their CD Contraband (which I play on repeat) and I never thought they could be even more amazing but they can because their concert was fuckin sweet!! I personally love Slither and You Got No Right by them. Scott Weiland has the best voice ever and Slash, Duff, Dave and Matt are absolutely insane at creating fucking awesome music. Scott is sooo hot!!! So thanx to Geoff.K, Cole.M, Will.W, Jacob.T and all of Velvet Revolver!!! Please come back to Hamilton again!!!!!
Thanks to Smelly: Holy shit this concert was the best!!! There was so much energy! I had floor seats that fuckin rocked! "Fall to Pieces" got the best crowd response. Everybody was singin along. My favourite was "Slither" that song rocked. I will never forget this concert. Thanks to Scott, Slash, Duff, Matt, and Dave for putting on an amazing show. Come back to Hamilton soon!
Thanks to Danny Grimes: Again an amazing show. I had went to the Toronto show last year and did not think that a concert could get any better then that one. But at the Hamilton show they kicked some serious ass. With a bit more touring experience under their belts since the Toronto show, the band could not be any better. The way they performed "You Got No Right", was awesome. And of couse the opening with the amazing "Sucker Train Blues" and encore of "Slither", a perfect beginning with a perfect end. Keep on rocking guys, can't wait for the next album.
Thanks to Magic: All I can say is WOW, that show blew the Toronto show away from November 22. Scott was amazing as usual. Slash did his solos in ever song which was incredible. There wasn't a part of the show that I didn't like. The crazy animations on the screen made it even better. And the last part about this concert that I loved was Duff...he doesn't get enought credit for his work compared to Slash but he was amazing too. The whole band did an incredible job.
Thanks to Morgan Midgley - Miia Sabatucci: Fuckiin' eh boys! =)Amazing show ! Breathtaking...Def comiin to the next one! AHH! Thanks for guitar pic Dave . . .
Thanks to Bernie Kosior: I have been going to rock concerts for 30 years, seen them all from PRIEST to Tull and have to say that Velvet Revolver got into my HEAD SPACE, it was an electrifying performance I will never forget. Weiland's vocals sent a sinister chill up my spine, everybody around us was just rocking out of their minds. Have not been a big G&R fan but can see Slash and the boys are tight, truly one of the only ROCK BANDS to be walking the earth right now. Never got to see an STP concert, but this was possibly the next best thing, power rock is not dead yet, this is a band that has set the bar way high, and can't wait to see them again, pound for pound probably the #1 Rock band in the world. Too much attention paid to all the garbage, videos and fluff of music these days, you go out and see Velvet Revolver live and clear your head out, there is not many bands like this you will ever see. Every single person around me was rocking out, felt like ....SUPERMAN, SLITHERING to meet a DIRTY LITTLE THING.
Thanks to Steve Dufresne: The Montréal concert was amazing, but the crowd, for me, was not in it at all. Great setlist. Has for the Hamilton concert, same songs & a very very good performance & the crowd was wild on the floor. A couples of mistakes in the two concerts, but can't wait to see them again & again & again...sorry for my english.
Thanks to A-Mac: This show was amazing I was at the show in Toronto in November and this one was better. But I think the crowd was more into the show in Toronto with the encore chant and the clapping Scott controlled. But all in all Slash Fucking Rocks!!!
Rock N Fuckin' Roll Boys!!
Thanks to Amy O'Brien: I am a journalist for the Sheridan sun in Oakville, Ont. This is a review that I wrote for the paper.
It's very rare that music fans are able to get the best of both worlds. Two different sounds brought together to form a completely new and sometimes even better sound. Fortunately for music fans this has been the case for Velvet Revolver.
The hard biker-esque sweet guitar laden sound of Guns N Roses, nicely merged with the sexy strutting satisfying sound of Scott Weiland, previously of acclaimed rock band Stone Temple Pilots. Together they form the hard rocking Velvet Revolver.
After the release of their first album Contraband, Velvet Revolver took their sound on tour around North America. This was their third trip through the GTA. Now equipped with new found rock sensation Three Days Grace, Velvet Revolver has returned, and on March 24 they took over Copps Coliseum in Hamilton.
Unusual for a rock concert, it started promptly at 7pm, with 75% of the seats still empty. Opening band The Mark Inside jumped on stage attempting to warm up fans before Three Days Grace. Unfortunately they failed, as the fans that were actually there left their seats. One set of fans were even seen listening to an iPod during the performance.
After the lacking performance of the first band, fans had high hopes that Three Days Grace would fix the spirits that were broken. And so they did.
Seats had started to fill as Three Days Grace took the stage. Thoroughly capturing fans with their up beat mosh pit worthy sound. After an hour set, the band exited the stage leaving fans satisfied and ready to take on the sound of Velvet Revolver.
Velvet Revolver burst on to the stage soon after Three Days Grace wrapped up, with the electric "Sucker Train Blues," almost catching fans off guard. It was the beginning of drool worthy performance. The band put the crowd in a state of awe as they belted out song after song from their album.
The bands music was enough for fans to consider this a first-rate concert, but Velvet Revolver took it to new heights when the first few cords of "It's so Easy", a well known Guns N Roses song, started to play.
The screams of many gunners fans started to overpower the music being played. They followed up the popular classic with "Sex Type Thing", a Stone Temple Pilots great. Which had STP fans jumping in their seats.
The band went on to play most of the songs from Contraband and a few special extras. They finished the concert up with two breath taking encores and Slash sporting a "Canadian's Kick Ass" T-shirt and his famous top hat.
After witnessing what these amazing performers had created and the reaction from the many fans, it was made clear how many fans from both worlds had become one, and were able to accept the collaboration and become as excited about it as the band itself.
Thanks to S. Coltart: L.O.U.D. & proud.... the band was right on the money.... tight as ever. Great night for rock "n" roll in the steel city. I would love to see them again. It was great hearing some GnR & S.T.P. These guys will only get better as time rolls on...new material will be worth the wait!!
Thanks to Lauren: Scott Weiland is an amazing performer. Velvet Revolver is an amazing band to watch perform. Velvet Revolver has amazing stage presence.
Thanks to Ashley: I fucking love Velvet Revolver. I had awesome seats and that FUCKEN ROCKED. Man it was an awesome concert. The first band I think it was called the Mark Inside they sucked balls and then Three Days Grace came on they were cool then Velvet Revolver came on they were fucken great late but great sooooooo ya!!!! Slash, Scott, Duff, Matt AND Dave I LOVE U GUYS.
Thanks to Brianna Morris: Best concert I have ever been to. I was in the front row and it was amazing. The whole band had alot of energy and played great. Best night of my life!
Thanks to Tasha Desnoyers: As soon as 3 Days Grace hit the stage I knew the concert was gonna be sick. 3DG did an amazing set pumping us up for Velvet Revolver. When they play some STP and GUNS N ROSES..I almost fell over. They all did an amazing job that night!! Go Velvet Revolver!!
Thanks to Tim Berk: It was my first concert ever and it fucking ruled! Everything about the show was great. The band was energetic and played a hell of a show. Slash even wore a Canada kicks ass t-shirt, which will make every Canadian in the arena love him. There was lots of interaction with the band and a cool speech by Scott during Sex Type Thing. My favorites played were Fall To Pieces, You've Got No Right and Slither. Thanks so much for the awesome time Velvet Revolver.
Thanks to Afro Dude: Velvet Revolver WAS SO FUCKING GOOD. They made me rock out so much I can barely move my neck, the only thing that pissed me off was Three Days Grace. THEY LICK BALLS. But once Velvet Revolver came on and played some real Rock and roll everything was good.
Thanks to Russ: This was my third time seeing Velvet Revolver in concert and again the show was fucking amazing. I saw them in Toronto at the Kool Haus last May and at the Air Canada Centre last November. This time they were playing at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton and I must say these guys always seem to give it their all when it comes to playing live shows. The set list was about the same as all shows which was expected but still great. The pit was crazy as always and the Mark Inside along with Three Days Grace did a great job warming up the crowd. If only the fans were a little more appreciative to the very first band who plays. Just because you are not into their music doesn't mean they don't have talent guys! Most fans were great but not all of them. Anyway, thank you Velvet Revolver for coming back to southern Ontario and kicking my ass again. I look forward to the next album coming out and I can't wait to see you in concert again, where and whenever that may be. Cheers!!
Thanks to Mike McRae: What an amazing show. It was my first Velvet Revolver show and I am in awe still and it's the day after! It was truly great, although 3 Days Grace isn't my favourite it was well worth it to sit through them to see the headlining act Velvet Revolver! They had all the explosive control over the crowd and it was absolutely the best moment of my life to see these guys live. They've got it all- experience, talent and everything else there is. I really would suggest it to anyone who has the chance to see them to take that chance. 10/10, 100%, perfect! I love'd it!
Thanks to Jay: Velvet Revolver proceeded to "rock the fuck out" last night. And they did it amazingly well.
The night started off with a band from Toronto called A Mark Inside. They were decent, nothing horrible, but I wouldn't call them amazing either.
Now, I wasn't much of a Three Days Grace fan to begin with and last night they reassured me that they do indeed blow. I mean, is that much angst really healthy for you? But they did get the majority of the crowd into it and after they played "I Hate Everything About You" people were ready for Velvet Revolver.
The lights went out in the middle of "Leg of Lamb" by Queens of the Stone Age, although that is a damn good song, I myself couldn't hold excitment for the main attraction. The entire arena got on their collective feet, and once they started the opening riff to "Sucker Train Blues" everyone was ready for some quality rock and fuckin' roll.
The endless assult train otherwise known as Velvet Revolver kicked our asses for an hour and a half of originals, STP songs and Gn'R songs. During "Illegal I", the band went into a awesome extended jam of the song, but my favourite part of the show happened when the played "Sex Type Thing".
Now "Sex Type Thing" is one of my favourite STP songs in the first place and when Scott got his megaphone out and started to say "Here I come, I come, I come..." I was about to explode. But the real treat came near the end of the song. The band took a detour from the actual song and when into a jam, then Scott basically told us how we have the power to destroy and of the record executives. He taught me more in the time of his speech than I've learned all week in school!
Highlights from the night would of been "Crackerman","Illegal I","Fall to Pieces"(which also got the biggest crowd response, plus everyone was singing), "Sex Type Thing", "You Got No Right" and "Slither".
Overall it was a damn good show and I would recomend everyone go see Velvet Revolver.
Thanks to Tyneil: Wow! I am in love with Scott Weiland!! Last night was an amazing rock and fuckin roll concert! It was my first time seeing them and it left me speechless. From watching Slash with his solos right in front of me, to Scott shakin his shit. Not to mention the speech of how the youth have the power. Man that was crazy. I went expecting to feel really young there being how I'm 19 but there were 12 and 13 year olds there! Very impressed! The crowd was goin nuts when we heard the old stuff from STP and Guns, but I have to say the ultimate was when Slash walked out and threw on the good old top hat! Anyways thanks for the amazing show last night Velvet Revolver!! It's about fuckin time we finally got some good old rock and roll back in this country! Come back soon!!
Thanks to Sharpie: Intense is a word that comes to mind when thinking about last nights show. Didn't catch the opening band's name- they weren't really anything special I thought. Three Days Grace were a lot better live then I ever expected them to be - considering I don't like their music too much. But WOW, when Velvet Revolver came on- that was instense! During 3DG me and my friends somehow scurried up through an open tunnel of people to about the 4th row of people in between Scott and Slash's place, and struggled quite a bit to keep those spots, and actually lost one of us in the process half way through Velvet Revolver lol. Considering I wasn't nearly as close as I was this time last November at the ACC this show fucking blew my mind. It was nice to hear Dirty Little Thing and You Got No Right live, Slash's solo on DLT, blew me away, but then again the guy is one of the if not the best guitarists alive. Rock N Fuckin Roll was in full swing last night, thanks for the greatest show on earth Velvet Revolver.
Thanks to Chris: I was truly bummed-out. I was a huge STP fan and didn't manage to make it to any of their concerts when they were still around. Once Velvet Revolver was formed, I was hooked instantly. I bought their CD the day it came out. Velvet Revolver had come to Toronto twice before and each time I could not make it because of personal obligations that I could not break. Then when I heard that they were coming to Hamilton (where I go to school) there was no way in hell I was going to miss them a third time in a row. Needless to say that I was really pumped for this concert and that I had incredibly high expectations. Velvet Revolver surpassed them effortlessly. The concert was incredible! Three Days Grace opened (another favourite band of mine)and laid down an amazing set playing the best of their first album and even dropped a new song on us, very cool.
Velvet Revolver's performance was truly awesome. It rocked at a scale of epic proportions... how rock concerts should be. That is to say, with true feeling and passion that is unquestionable as to the authenticity of it. The performers feeling the audience as the audience feel the music and the performers. This was evident in the way Matt was going nuts on the drums, Dave and Duff were wailing, Slash was just being Slash (nuff said) and Scott was Scott, a rock star incarnate. Scott talked for almost five minutes straight before the end of Sex Type Thing. He made this speech on bringing down the rich old fatcats of the record industry and taking back rock and roll and making it "rock and fucking roll", while the rest of the band was just amping in the background. The audience was feeling it.
If I had one complaint, I found it hard to see at times at ground level and I kept getting pushed back away from the stage. At one point I was absolutely squished (not fun). It was because the ground level was packed. Also, there were some old drunk guys (I am talking like in their 40s) that were trying to relive the days when they didn't have man-tits or grey pubes and got wasted and started pushing people around over-antagonistic manner. Not cool, if they came to enjoy the music and feel good, then more power to them, but if they came to release this pent-up elderly aggression at the expense of others that just want to rock, then that is not cool.
Anyways, that is my rant without repeating (most of) what others have already said. If you are seeing one of Velvet Revolver's concerts and you are reading this to get an idea of what to expect; expect some rock and fucking roll, motherfucker!
Thanks to krisztina: Oh my god!!!!! I've have been waiting to see Slash live for 16 years! I still can't believe I was there, in first row, I was in shock of how awesome these guys were!! Thank you so much for bringing rock 'n' roll back to my life, finally some good music, we can actually enjoy without taking any substance for it, right! They looked very healthy and very into what they're doing these days, love to everyone the Velvet Revolver girl!!
Thanks to Shawn: Man that show was awesome. Slash wailed, Scott was amazing. It was a fuckin good rock show!
Thanks to Dan: Fuckin' blew me away! They sure made up for the T.O. show in Nov. Scott was just smokin'and the boys, well what can I say. They just rocked!!!!
Thanks to RIP: HAMILTON!!...FROM HOLLYWOOD, Velvet Revolver!
FUCKING AMAZING show the guys put on tonite...second time seeing them and they keep getting better...longer set list on this tour, though similar to the one in Toronto last May. Where to start...the guys came out with Sucker Train Blues...a wicked song and from the moment the whole crowd was pumped up as each song led into the next. Sound was a little messy...hard to hear Slash's leads over the rest of the band...but all in all the show was great. Old gunners and STP songs were played as usual...the crowd seemed to respond the best to those. Though all the Velvet Revolver material sounded great...and the improvs they did to extend certain songs sounded great as well. It was just fucking amazing to see Slash, Duff, Scott, Matt and Dave again...those guys know how to rock! Like Scott said during Sex Type Thing...the fans have the power in their hands to take control over the mofo fat cats that run the record businesses. My personal favourites from the set included Set Me Free....Crackerman...It's So Easy and You Got No Right....but every moment was fucking great. These guys will definetly give a new generation a style of music to start creating and that revolution will come and we'll be ROCKIN' N' FUCKIN' ROLLIN' again! These guys know how to put on a great rock show...and the ticket prices were less than some of the other big name rock bands out on tour now. I wanna thank Slash, Duff, Scott, Matt AND Dave for an awesome night....and you sure as hell better come rock again!
Thanks to Melissa: Concert was amazing! Scott was sooo awesome! So were the others! Best I've ever been to. Come back soon!
Thanks to Jay: This was my second Velvet Revolver concert. My first was in Toronto in November. I gotta say, once again, they blew my ears off and I had a blast.
Slash played with his usual precision and beauty, Scott was goin' nuts and his rant was great. Duff was totally getting into it with the crowd and communicating with them, Dave just rocked like no tomorrow and Matt was beating those drums into "mashed rice."
I loved the electric version of"Used To Love Her." That was definitely a treat.
Slither has got to be one of the best live songs ever and this must be why they won a Grammy for it. It's just utterly AMAZING to hear and see live. So much energy.
I was happy that they played "You Have No Right." It was one song that I didn't know whether they'd play or not... but they did.
They played with energy and rocked the house. I'm so glad to be a fan and to have been to two of their shows.
Thanks to Jeff Ashton: To start off, just fucking wow. If you read my post from the Toronto show in Nov, I was pretty impressed. For those who remember, there were custom issues, and quality of show suffered slightly. Tonight in Hamilton though, they completely made up for it. The sound quality was amazing this time around. Scott's vocals were amazingly clear and the balance was just fucking perfect. The crowd interaction (that was missing from the November show ) was back and surpassed that of the May show.
Each group member seemed to have so much energy tonight as well. They were all over the fucking place. I just wish that everyone who felt let down by the November show, was there tonight to be completely re-energized with the band. Like I said last time, I can't wait for them to be back and for the new album that's in the works.
Help start the fucking revolution!!!
Thanks to Kris from Kitchener!: I was a big fan of G`n`R and a huge fan of STP, when Velvet Revolver came around I was impressed. Coming to this show I had seen STP and Three Days Grace once before. Three Days Grace did an excellent job warming the crowd up for Slash and the gang. They played thier usual hits and a few new songs!!(look out for their new cd it's gonna be huge) They left the crowd feeling pumped right up with "I hate everything about you" so thanks to Three Days Grace for an awesome show..
Now finally the moment we all were waiting for.. Velvet Revolver!! They came out and demanded that we appreciate them playing thier rock `n` fucking roll!! The stage presence that Scott had was absolutely incredible.. from his voice hitting all the notes that make him famous to his speech on the youth in power. Slash was flawless all evening with his patented hair cut and cigarette in the guitar, hitting every whining solo and shining every moment that he could.. he truly is a rock and roll guitar legend, actually a master. Velvet Revolver kept all the tunes pumping and the crowd into it. Then out of no where "Fall To Pieces" flew in the middle of the show. The crowd was compeletly hooked, that will be a moment I never forget. Scott introduced the song as a song about being kicked out for being busted and he hit every note with such emotion the song was insane as I looked to the left and right of me.. everyone was singing along absolutely stunning.
After a few more tunes and "Dirty Little Thing", they started to bring out the oldies. STP's" Sex Type Thing" sounds so much better coming from Slash's guitar and Weiland still has it in him. After that a nice little speech about youth empowerment and then the encore chant. A few more songs and yet another encore chant, this time they weren't screwing around. Slash comes out takes off his Canada Kicks Ass t-shirt and launches it into the crowd! Then he proceeds to light up a cigarette which was the only colour coming out from his dark curly hair, then he reaches to the drum set and puts on his TOP HAT!! Oh man if you have never heard a crowd erupt like this, it was the Guns and Roses Slash and he came out with fury as Velvet Revolver broke into "Mr.Brownstone" and finished with the most amazing sounding single from a live band "Slither" brought the house down! I was absolutely blown away by this show and cannot thank Velvet Revolver and 3DG anymore for coming out to Hamilton. They played for a good length too definetly worth the money! 4/5 stars..
Thanks to Lance Romance: This show blew the Toronto, Air Canada Centre show away. A packed (and I mean packed) floor, sell out 1st level and about 1/4 of the top level was filled. Easily 8-10,000 showed up tonight. Very good show from Velvet Revolver, sound was a little rough, but that may just be the building. Scott's speech in the middle of the show was unexpected, since he only talked briefly to the crowd in Toronto in November. Thanks Velvet Revolver for hitting Hamilton, we appreciate your visit.
Thanks to Paulo: Third night of this tour and their already adding new songs. Tunes like Mr. Brownstone, Used To Love Her and You Got No Right. Beside the usual set of Sucker Train Blue, Do It For the kids, Set me Free, Sex Type Thing, Crackerman, Slither, etc. Scott Weiland (as usual) is a true rockstar. Always was...always will be. Along side of a healthy, fit Duff, Slash, Matt and Dave. The band is tight when going from Velvet Revolver songs to STP songs to GNR songs! The Hamilton show was "electric". Copps Coliseum was pack tight. Fans old and young. Velvet Revolver are what a true Rock band should sound like. Where have all the good rockstars gone? Oh...there they are...onstage last night in Hamilton! Love Velvet Revolver! Thanks for the great show guys....
