Reviews (26) [ send in your own review/pictures of the Atlanta show ]

Thanks to Shawn: The show rocked Hoobastank sucked but Velvet Revolver rocked. It was the best concert I've ever been to, it was loud and Slash rocked as usual.

Thanks to John Churchwell: Man, I'm 49 years old and haven't been to a concert since the early 80s. The show was awsome! Much better than I expected. The stage setup was great and I really enjoyed the large video screens on each side of the stage. I hope this band stays together because they know how to ROCK!!!

Thanks to GUITARGOD: This show F'n rocked. Slash was dead on freakin AMAZING. Scott moved around the stage the WHOLE time he has A LOT of energy for as skinny as he is. Slash switched guitars about 6 times which was awesome and only missed like three chords the whole time whoever ragged on him in that one review was wrong Slash is amazing. You guys play some real R & F'n R hopefully I can get some tix to see you in Ozzfest in Nashville TN. Thanks for an amazing show.

Thanks to Trash: Me and a Friend went to this show. 1st off Hoobaskank sucked balls but went the heart beat went off on the knievel video it was badass everybody went crazy. I don't know why the fuck people were complaining about Slash he was fuckin great and rocked the house the rest of the band owned to the GNR songs were badass. That was by far the best fuckin show the crowd was crazy and the show was badass can 't wait to see them again. Velvet Revolver owns The NEW ROCK N FUCKIN ROLL.

Thanks to Steven: What a great show! Yea, Slash wasn't very active, but he still was amazing... it worked out for me because I was right in front of his mic so he was close by the whole time. Did anyone see Dave fall between the amps. He played on his back for a good bit before security helped him up. He seemed to be really enjoying himself more than the other shows I've seen him at.

Through a connection at my school, I was able to sit in on the 99x interview with Duff (Slash didn't come for some reason). I was in complete awe he was there for about a hour and a half. We were able to talk between songs and commercial breaks. He was as friendly as could be. If you heard the interview, did you hear Duff have 99x play Neurotic Outsiders? The guys in the studio that requested it were me and my friend. On the 99x site you can see us in one of the pictures in the background (I'm wearing a white t-shirt).

Anyway, that was by far the best performance I've seen Scott give out of the 3 shows and Dave was impressive too. Great time! Can't wait for them again... Tabernacle anyone!

Thanks to Hoochie: Friday night I was up against the guard rail right in front of Scott. Someone asked who got the can Scott threw out in the crowd? Did anyone notice a guy that was 7' tall? Well he was directly behind me. He got the can....and I got the drink all over me! LOL! Sorry, but I do have to brag for a minute. Do ya'll remember at the begining of Sex Type Thing when Scott pointed at a girl in the crowd & said something like (can't remember EXACTLY) "Hey baby...are you ready?"....well, that was to me!! AGH!!!!!!! I about died right then and there!! Needless to say Scott is VERY high on my list right now and if anyone has a bootleg of this show, I will personally kiss your feet for a copy!!! I thought they sounded AWESOME Friday night. I too noticed Slash's lack of movement. I had seen him just before he went to the venue & he seemed fine. Was in a good mood, posed for pics, etc. But at the show he acted like he didn't feel good. He was back to normal last night in Orlando though, so at least it's nothing serious!! The Orlando show wasn't as good as Atlanta, but I still had an INCREDIBLE time!! Even got one of Matt's sticks. I'll have to find the Orlando thread & post my thoughts on that show there.

I've seen them 4 times now. I know that's not many at all compared to a lot of you. And I'm already making plans for one more before they go to Europe again. That Atlanta show Friday night was the best one yet. And I highly doubt that one will EVER be topped for me!!

Thanks to Barbarella: We had the most wonderful time at the show last night! I had never been in the pit before and a couple of times it was a little crazy, but we were mere FEET away from Scott. Did anyone know who caught the can of Red Bull? At last year's concert in Nashville they left the stage so quickly I don't think they threw anything out.

So we know who caught the microphone now! My husband and his best friend were talking about how close they were all the way home. My husband was the guy on the floor waiting just in case it was dropped!

I was a little floored because most of the girls there looked to be 17 at the oldest, I knew it was for Matt.....and wondered about how old he was. I am not surprised that someone screamed and scared Scott off. That's what happens when you invite girls backstage instead of real women!

All in all, we had a fantastic time. Velvet Revolver always puts on a fucking great show. My favorite part was when they came back out and sang "Wish you were here" and "You got no right". I still can't get over how close we were to the band. Scott kept looking at my husband trying to figure him out, he looks like Scott circa 1995. My husband said after a couple of looks he felt really awkward and started clapping along with the music!

I hope everyone had a great time!

Thanks to MissSlash: Overall, fantastic night Hoobastank came on first and I was just really happy when they were finished. It's just not my thing. Then it seemed like an eternal wait for Velvet Revolver to come on. Of course they came out and were awesome. It was great to hear Wish You Were Here. This show was a lot longer than the one I saw in December.

My big complaint: Slash did something very un-Slash. He stayed on the same side the entire show. Am I exaggerating? No. He did, not once, visit the other side of the stage. He made about 2 or 3 appearances for 2 or 3 seconds to the sorta middle of the stage. I've never known him to do that before. He's usually all over the stage. Quite a few fans in the pit were disappointed. It probably didn't really matter if you were further back.

Scott was really great. He did a lot more talking than the previous show I saw and I could actually hear him this time. He was all over the stage, unlike someone who will remain unnamed.

Duff was his usual greatness. He makes a lot of interaction with the fans. He looked at me so I smiled at him, and he smiled back I enjoyed that part, just a little too much

I just love Dave. He does this great leaping into the air and spinning bit. He looks like he is just up there having the greatess time. And Matt was usual Matt, making those great drummer faces and very good when he did his drum solo.

Scott pointed out some girl in the pit at the end and some dude came and gave her and her friends backstage passes. That guy picked a few more girls to go backstage and me and my friend thought our night was over. So as we were exiting the pit another dude gives me and my friend backstage passes! At first I was like "What the hell is this?" and "Did that just happen?". Before I knew it, I was sitting up on the stage with about 8 other girls. We were huddled into the corner like cattle. Then they took us to some room with couches, a lot of Coronas, and some Vodka. Matt came in to visit. He hung out for a little while and talked with us. I got an autograph and a picture, which I have no idea if it will turn out or not. He came in with a redhead that he named as his girlfriend Gretchen. I thought his girlfriend was Ace. He ended up spanking some girl with his drumsticks because she said it was her birthday and he was giving her birthday spankings. He really seemed to enjoy that part. Then suddenly Scott walks in. One of the girls screamed. Just brilliant He comes up to Matt and introduces him to some other guy and basically ignores everyone else. He quickly exits the room, as one of the girls attempts to get him to stay. I don't blame him though. The screamer scared me a bit too Matt left after a little while and that was it. None of the other guys came in. One of the crew members said something about Slash having a bad night, which might explain why he "one-sided" the show.

So, I had a good time.

Thanks to soulrebel33: Yes BADASS show last night!!! It was my 2nd time seeing them the first time that wasn't a fest...which sucked cause the sound was not too good at that show and a lot of people didn't care as much as the "real fans".

But this show was just well.....it really puts them on the map as far as GREAT live artists go!!! Damn Slash's talkbox solo WAS FREAKIN AMAZING!!!

Plus I had good eye contact with Scott and at the end of the show HE THREW ME HIS MICROPHONE!!! HOLY SHIT!!! I mean I KNOW I ROCK BUT Scott THAT BLEW MY MIND!! This thing new with the receiver costs over $2000.00!!! That's without the fact that it was Scott's and now is MINE!!! Not that I'm gonna sell it EVER just nice to know Scott loves me that much. The feeling runs through us both.....

Has he done this before at all!? I've never heard of him doing that! Not back in the STP days....not in Velvet Revolver days. My jaw is having trouble staying shut...I'm in such a SHOCK!!! Ayone have a wire my jaw really needs it after lastnight!!!?

Man after he threw it to me, there were like 20 hands on that thing too including some dude who was like 3 times bigger than me and doing coke b4 and during the show. Now tell me that's not crazy!!! Plus my fingers broken....

I REALLY couldn't sleep last night I only got 2 hours.....errr I guess I'll try to go back to bed...its noon though....sounds like some rockstar shit to me....bahahaha

THANK YOU FOR A MIND BLOWING NIGHT GUYS!!! This makes up for you guys not playing a club in ATLANTA...........YET!!! (Tabernacle...hint hint)

Can't wait till the next album and tour!!!

LONG LIVE ROCK AND FUCKIN ROLL!!!

P.S. I just checked it's NOT A DREAM ITS STILL ON MY SHELF!!! Thank GOD!

Thanks to kravdog: A very good show....this being the third time that I've seen them live (Chicago 5/19/04, Cinci 11/7/04), I was stoked that they played two songs that I hadn't heard live before. Wish You Were Here & YGNR...both very good...overall, good show, sound was pretty lousy in the lawn, but better under the pavillion. Most people seemed to be having a good time.

p.s. They now have videos that play during the songs on the monitors to the left and right of stage (and a big electric Velvet Revolver back drop). During Big Machine the video footage was very, very similar to the video I made last summer...the one that Scott liked. I was stoked even more- that being said, I will try and repost that Big Machine video here in the near future for those of you who have yet to see it.

Thanks to imissbighairbands: What an awesome show! Soundcheck was great. I thought the 5 star deal was well worth it. Got to meet Slash and Duff. Duff is really cool. Very chatty.

Guess I wasn't the only one that thought Slash looked bored. He was fine during the soundcheck. He chatted with the fans and seemed to be having a good time. But he was totally different when the band took stage. Duff is awesome. He talked to everybody and posed for pictures during the soundcheck. Matt got pissed off during soundcheck and took off. It would have been nice to talk to him, but I can't complain. Duff and Slash were great. Duff's real chatty and Slash speaks in a whisper. I wish Scott would have been out during the soundcheck. He seems pretty private these days. Not much fan interaction. The pit had it's moments but seemed pretty mild. I thought the sound was better at the Gwinnet Center last year. All in all I thought it was an amazing show, I guess I'll catch them next at the Ozzfest in Nashville.

Thanks to Kim(Velvet Revolverkat): Well I have to say, this was my 3rd time seeing these guys, and by far the best!!! The set hasn't changed much other than taking out Crackerman. I got the setlist after the show, and Crackerman was crossed out along with Illegal I, although they did play Illegal I.

I was up next to the stage in front of Duff and Dave all night, and these guys are the best.....the stage presence, the interaction and contact with the crowd was awesome. Dave Kushner.......that man was on fire Friday night, so much energy. I counted at least 3 or 4 times that he jumped from Matt's drum riser! He was having a ton of fun. So was Duff, Matt and Scott. The only thing I was not to happy about was Slash. He stayed on his side of the stage all night, so unlike him. He sounded great, but just not very active at all. I hope everything is OK with him. He is only human though, he just might have been under the weather. I can't wait for my next show......

Thanks to DeeDee: Well first I have to say that I am a HUGE GNR and STP fan and was soooooo looking forward to this show. I love the new Velvet Revolver CD it totally rocks!

I was however really taken back by 2 of the members of Velvet Revolver's performances. They kicked off with Sucker Train Blues which really rocked! Scott was a little off but hey it was the first song right, but he was really off the beat on most songs, coming in late and really singing out of key on parts of songs. He was all over the place and actually messed up the end of a couple songs. Wish You Were Here was a mess. I guess he's off the wagon again. I was really surprised beceause I've seen STP and he kicked major ass. He did get it together for Fall To Pieces and Slither which were completly dead on. Slash also was most likely wasted, he couldn't play his own damn solos. He didn't move from the right side of the stage. I've seen him in top form years ago with GNR and he WAS the man. Hell he f'ed up Mr Brownstone. The rest of the band was fucking solid as a rock Matt, Dave and Duff were tight as hell. In fact if not for those three nailing every damn song it could have been a complete train wreck. Overall I still had fun it was a good show - great Velvet Revolver songs and Sex type thing- STP, It's so Easy and Mr Brownstone - GNR ,Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd. Too bad Scott and Slash were out of it. It could have been one of the best shows in several years if those two guys were on it.

Thanks to Devil Man: Last night in Atlanta was fucking sweet! The guys from Hoobastank, as expected, were blown the fuck away. Slash has not lost his touch to finger fuck the shit out of a guitar. Duff was all smiles as he rocked through the night. Scott was, well, being Scott! He told a story about how history was made in Atlanta. He went on to explain that all his albums have someway passed through Atlanta. Either he has recorded here or mixed them here. Also, he said his drug habit started in Atlanta and he was sure the rest of the guys in the band knew was he was talking about. Also, he went on to say that is what makes them who they are today. It's So Easy and Brownstone was amazing with Scott's voice. I like Appetite for Destruction, but if Scott would have been GnR's lead vocalist it would have been just as good or better.

The set list was pretty much the same, I don't know if they have been playing "Wish You Were Here" (Pink Floyd, not the terrible Incubus song), but it was great.

I have been to many shows and left with my ears ringing very few times. But these guys are fucking loud and that is as Scott Weiland introduced the band as "playing Rock and Fuckin Roll."

Thanks to B-Rizzle: This show was off the Nar meter to the extreme. This was my first time seeing Velvet Revolver and I guarantee you if you dish out the cash to see them you will not be dissappointed and that cash will be well spent. The coolest part of the whole show was when the band came out for their second encore and Slash took off his shirt, lit a cigarrette and pulled out his trademark top-hat for the first time in the show and started playing the intro to Mr. Brownstone which was incredible. Weiland is an awesome frontman and in all it was an awesome show the do truly know how to entertain and Hoobastank should take lessons. Only setback is that they came on late, but hey their rock stars what do you expect?

Thanks to Robbie Phillips: Hoobastank came on and played for about 45 minutes. After Velvet Revolver hit the stage the whole place went wild. I was right next to the stage and it was he best damn show I have ever saw. Worth every penny I paid.

Thanks to Christie Graham: This was my second time to see Velvet Revolver and once again they rocked! My friend and I were front row, center stage. Scott's voice is amazing. Slash and the guys are awesome. As the band were going off stage, Scott threw his mic and it went right over the top of my head. Wish You Were Here rocked and it was a nice surprise. The whole show kicked ass. See you in Chicago! (center stage blonde{nasty girl} and brunette)!

Thanks to Patrick: I don't know if any of you all read the comments some guy said about Slash. He must be some burnout trying to relive his earlier days. Let's face it...we aren't seeing G n' R and Slash is obviously older, but still plays one hell of a show. I've seen the Revolver twice now. Once in a small venue back in Portland (The Roseland) and it blew my mind. I told myself that this band is here to stay and Weiland is one of the best front man around. Absolutely loved the show the second time around, but will admit that I was a little disappointed I didn't get to hear one of my favorite old tunes, Crackerman. Love that guitar riff throughout the song and was so amped to hear it. Other than that the show was amazing. Every song is better than the last and Weiland definitely seems in prime form with his presence on stage. Gotta hand it to this band and the music they are making. I can't wait for the next show.

Thanks to Heather: They kicked ass! Velvet Revolver was terrific. They play sooooo good. Slash played that guitar like heaven. That show was the best that I have seen all year. They really rocked the house. There is no words that can really express the true enjoyment that was there. Scott looked so Hot TOO! They rocked the house. When Slash put on that hat he looked even better!

Thanks to Shannon: You guys really know how to rock the house down. Your show was really a blast to be at. This is my second time seeing you guys and seeing you up close was really cool. I went with my brother and some of my friends and I really want you guys to come back to Atlanta again because you are a joy to have here in town.

Thanks to Douglas M.: Thanks to 5 out of 5. Hands down the best show I have ever seen @ Lakewood.

Two G n R songs, one STP song & one Pink Floyd song were covered in addition 80% of Contraband.

So glad these guys are making music together and look forward to their progress as a band.

Thanks to Suzanne Robertson: This was my second time to see Velvet Revolver in concert (the first was in Birmingham, AL last November) and WOW! They are still amazing. Once again it took the guys nearly 45 min after Hoobastank finished (who SUCK by the way, and promoters: get at least a DECENT band to open for Velvet Revolver!!) and some of the road crew came out and altered set lists--could have taken off 1 or 2 songs since they came on late. But I knew that the band would make up for it. And they did. Opening with "Sucker Train Blues" and on was fantastic. I was in the right side of the pit, like 5 feet from Slash the entire time! Slash didn't move to the other side, which sucked for the other side, but was FANTASTIC to me!! They played "It's So Easy" and "Mr. Brownstone" as well as "Sex Type Thing" and in the down time they played Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here". It was a great show. I can't wait to see them again.

Thanks to Sir Richard Edward Dover II: WOW, by far the best rock and roll show I've ever seen, probably ever will see. I didn't get to watch Hoobastank but who cares when Velvet Revolver is playing. They opened with Sucker Train Blues, of course, which floored me. Then they played songs off Contraband, plus It's So Easy and Sex Type Thing. During the breakdown of Sex Type Thing Scott told the crowd that, every record he made in his past started in Atlanta (STP stuff), then he said that and so did his drug habit. It was an awesome show, they closed with set me free, then the first encore was Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd) and You Got No Right, which rocked. Then they went off stage, only to return to Matt Sorum having a little drum solo into Mr. Brownstone and they closed the show with Slither. Damn it was fucking awsome.

Scott put on an incredible show, he truly is one of the last great rock showmen, he never had any
trouble, except for like 2 seconds on Wish You Were Here but I mean it's Scott Weiland the fucking
rocks. Dave played great, once during the performance he some how managed to get stuck in between some stage monitors and had to get a roadie to help him up (spinal tap anyone?) and then once he got up he jumped off Matt's drum riser and the highest jumps I've ever seen, it was badass. Duff rocked out hard, never messed up, sang like a fucking bird, (I think he changed outfits 3 or 4 times during the night). Matt never missed a beat, he stood up and played, damn that guy was solid. And Slash, I mean
it's Slash, he was unbelievable, truly one of the greats. All in all it was a great show, I hope to see
them again sometime.

Thanks to Shannon: Hi guys I had a wonderful time at your concert and I was happy because I gotten the pit section and it was great seeing you guys while you were up on stage. I really enjoyed all the songs that you did especially Pink Floyd that was really terrific. I do hope that you guys will come back to Atlanta because I really love being at your concerts. Thanks for coming back.

Thanks to Adam Lee: Well I'll never go see Velvet Revolver again. I saw them in December and they completely rocked the fucking house. But last night Slash was out of it. I'm not sure If the mother fucker even knew where he was.. He messed up so many guitar parts. I'd like to know what he was on. Duff came over plenty of times and asked him if he was okay and Slash just kept playing, never once opening his eyes.

Wish you were here was a cool surprise but Dave should have played the solo instead of Slash. I think the point to this concert was that Slash is and always will be a burn out. If you think about the solos he's written and how easy Wish you were here is, he should have nailed it. Specially considering they had played it before (which is something I didn't know last night).

And what's with the band waiting til super late to come out? That's not cool at all. They are definitely not worth sitting there having to listen to a Foo Fighters cd (which I liked). So people, take it from me, either Slash had a bad night, or Slash is just a out of it. But last night, Duff, Matt and Dave stepped up to plate because they knew they had to save the night.. but it just wasn't enough.

Thanks to Gonzi: This show was so fucking awesome. I've been reading all the reviews of this site for like 6 months and finally got my chance to see my favorite band, Velvet Revolver. I have no clue why Hoobstank is opening this leg of the tour, it just sucked! They are a high school band and even they kept asking the crowd:"r u guys ready to see Velvet Revolver?" They played for like 45 mins I just saw the last 25 mins. When they left, the Velvet Revolver crew started doing soundchecks, and everybody was getting excited!! As soon as the "Rock N'F'N Roll" sign came down the crowd went nuts. It was amazing, finally!

Experienced it myself and realized I had just seen the best band in the world. They played all Contraband songs but "Loving The Alien"...it was amazing. The GN'R songs, It's So Easy and Brownstone were just fucking awesome. They played 1 STP song and for the acoustic set, Slash came out with his top hat and a cigarrette and played" You Got No Right". Slither was hot!! These hot girls went nuts too! Slash was just rocking! Duff looks so cool and confident, Matt played the YCBM intro and then right to Browstone, he's sooo good. Dave was jumping around the stage, it's so cool to see how he complements Slash. And Mr. Weiland just fucking amazing. Knows exactly how to keep the crowd rocking. Thank you guys for such an awesome show! You guys are bringing back Rock N' Fucking Roll!!
