Thanks to Wayne Madden: The bands first apperance in Ireland (well, Northern Ireland) since Jan 2005. We got a Pink Floyd cover now towards the end instead of Guns N Roses cover from last time. The band looked more well oiled then last time and the more concerts they play the better. Great gig.
Thanks to Tiarnan Young: The show in the Odessey was klass!!!!!!! It was my first concert that I've been to. Although I never heard of VELVET REVOLVER back then. But when my dad bought me the Contraband album for my birthday. The first song was Slither then when the solo came on it was just like everything went away. Fuck it was a cool feeling at the concert when that song came on.
Thanks to Craig Norton: The concert was ages ago but it was the best concert ever. I was there it rocked when Scott came in the crowd it was so cool. Matt is my idol so when he threw his drumsticks into the crowd my heart stopped. I so wanted them but oh well the concert was the greatest. The Gaa Gaa's were good but Biffy Cliro sucked.
Thanks to Gillan: Velvet Revolver ruled in Belfast. I know it was 4 or 5 months ago but every time I think of I tingly feeling in my stomach!!! It was a dream come true to see my life long heros on stage! I've loved Guns N' Roses n was annoyed cause I'd never get a chance to see them live but Velvet Revolver came along and made my dream come true and it rocked even more than I could have imagened!! They rocked and fuckin rolled. I was at the very front and had Duff(mmm...) and Slash (mmm....) about 10ft away from me the whole night. It was fuckin amazing. I had exams the next day but still couldn't concentrate. The highlight of the night was when Slash spat out his fag and I got it. It was totally kool. I still have it (hid)!!! Please please please please come back to Belfast PLEASE!!!! ROCK N FUCKIN ROLL!!!
Thanks to Fatty Matty: That was the best show I've ever been to in my life I think, and I have seen quite alot of bands, but this just tops them all. Maybe it was because they are my favourite band, or maybe it's just because it was such a good fucking performance. When Falll To Pieces came on I was so fucking hyped, honestly, the best night of my life!!!!
Thanks to jonny: The whole night was SO good and it's OCTOBER and I still can't get over it. I just can't believe the five biggest rockstars today came to our little dump of Northern Ireland. Remember before Set Me Free, when Duff said "this is something you all can relate to, f**k council flats and" I didn't make out the rest. But council flats? Maybe nobody else picked this up but I'm sure he did. And he said near the end that they WOULD be coming back next year. I was sitting though so next time I want to be in that mosh pit. And I didn't even take advantage of seats! No camera or anything! Go on send in things you remember from the concert.
Thanks to Stephen Quinn: MIND BLOWING!! Velvet Revolver absolutely rocked that night! First time actually seeing them and would go again in a heartbeat! Thank God I got up to the front of the floor that night and had Scott towering over me several times. I gave Duff and Dave, both the thumbs-up and they actually acknowledged me! Duff smiled and nodded...Dave just laughed. Slash was on fire. Played amazing, he came over to the area I was at several times and at on a few occasions was standing directly in front of me. He got in that famous stance where the Les Paul is at chest height, and his face is covered with hair; and he just ripped out that opening riff to "Superhuman". And did anyone notice that Slash was the main focus of the concert!? I heard loads of people shouting for him, and there were chants for him. Like when Biffy got "booed" off. Everyone was chanting, "We want Slash!" Anyway, was the best concert I've ever been to and I highly recomend going to see them.
Thanks to T Dillon: Best show ever, this was my second time to see them and it was even than better than Dublin.
Thanks to Eamon: That was my 1st concert and it was fucking amazing. Slash was unbelievable and you sound exactly the same live it was fucking amazing.
Thanks to Neilly: Biffy were shit they were borin as hell and all they did was scream and play a load of fucked up chords that sound like nothing. Long live Velvet Revolver
Thanks to Harrison: I was at the front man, so fuckin crazy. Hands down, best rock n roll band on the planet today. It was the second time I'd seen them this year. But although in Manchester MEN in January with The Datsuns, they were amazing, I was sitting though, so the atmosphere wasn't as good, the front was far better and I got to slap Scott and what have you. My highlight was the Slash/Dave solo-off and It's So Easy. One last thing Biffy Clyro are fucking great, you's shouldn't be so harsh so ok they don't play solo's or other proper rock stuff, but the originality of Simon's lyrics and chord progressions are incredible, listen to that band and try and write something like that.Anyway Velvet Revolver are proper rock legends Rock n'f'n Roll!
Thanks to iloveaerosmith: Absolutely amazing!! I swear to god one of the best concerts I have ever been too. First the show started with The Gagas who were quite good and then this other band came on who were so crap I swear to god I was booing them so hard to get off the bloody stage and bring on Slash. When the show got started it was amazing, the lights, the sounds and Slash. He was so damn hot. Anyway during Sex Type Thing Scott came up through the crowd at my side of the arena, I nearly fainted seeing this. But I ran across a bunch of people and ran down the side and leaped forward and OMG I TOUCHED HIS SWEATY BACK!!!! Then this big security guard grabbed my arm and threw me flying across a bunch of people but I got back up and recorded it on my phone! Showed everyone the next day. A truly outstanding night! And a highly recommended live show.
Thanks to Bro: Oh my god that was the best fucking concert I have ever been to. Thanx so much Velvet Revolver!!!! You guys rock!!!!! And plus I got some class photos of Slash cuz me and my friends were at the very front!!! woohoo!!
Thanks to Jonny Maxwell: Wow. Just wow. That was my first concert and it was simply amazing. As The Josh said, it was us all shouting "we love you, Slash!" to Slash. Slash heard us too!! There's meant to be a videoed interview with him on the internet. If anyone finds it, please put it in another review saying what the site is. Thanks. Anyway, the band were on top form, especially Duff and Scott. Oh yes and Slash was perfect as usual, I didn't really get to see Matt but Dave was clausch too. I was the one in the Ramones shirt, by the way...
Thanks to Jonny: A fucking mad show, we tore the support apart booin them off the stage, but it was alrite when Velvet Revolver came out they kicked ass.
Encores were great, Slash came out, top hat and all with his double guitar.
Best concert I've ever been to.
Thanks to Bazz: Fucking hell. First concert ever. Man they better come back next year. And we were the guys that shouted 'come here,' 'we love you Slash' and Duff looked at us. They're legends. And really and truely they rocked with excellent STP covers of Crackerman and Sex Type Thing. Fucking great. I can't stop saying fuck. Bloody legends. Deserve something. But I'm wondering was it a cliche that they kept feeding us. Bout us being a class crowd and havin soul, or was it real?
Thanks to Jonny: First concert ever. Blew me away. Slash was fuckin unbelievable and so were the usuals Scott, Matt, Dave and Duff. Despertely want them to come back so my wee bro and I can get up to the front.
Thanks to Sean Walsh: It was of the hook they are the best band ever and deadly. Live they rock.
Thanks to A-Bomb: Great show, rocked from start to finish. Very front row, caught 1 of Dave's picks, nearly got a drumstick but some bastard snapped it out of my hand! Got spat on by Slash the first time he came over to the left side of the stage, but it was Slash so I didn't care! Duff nodded when I showed him my Metallica shirt.. FUCKIN ROCK ON!!
Thanks to Jennifer: Oh my god! What can I say? That is the best f**kin concert I've been to in my whole life! What a treat! I love Velvet Revolver now!
Thanks to The Josh: That was an amazing concert!! Plus the guy who mentioned that he heard a group of boys say "We love you Slash" was us. Me and my friends were shouting that. And I definitely did not love Slash in that way.
Anyway, fucking great concert!! Velvet Revolver come back next year!
Thanks to Neilly: They were unspeakably good it was incredible. I was right at the front near the center. I was the fat her screamin his balls off. Apparently Scott called me a crazy cunt but I think I missed it. BUGGER. Velvet Revolver ARE THE FUKIN DOGS DOODLE
Thanks to Jimmy: Amazing show. Scott came right up beside us when he came off the stage and into the crowd. Will never forget.
Thanks to Michael: Velvet Revolver rocked. It was one of the best concerts. I've ever been to I hope they come again.
Thanks to Hannah Goodall: Hey there Velvet Revolver fans. I had an amazing time at the Velvet Revolver concert front row. It was amazing the guys are great performers and really go all out to excite their fans.
Thanks to Sophie: Velvet Revolver and the GA GA'S rocked. I got Tommy's autogaph ^_^ . I waited til 1 just to see Duff! And give him a yellow bracelet but I didn't see him :'(. I LUFF Duff! xoxo
Thanks to Suzi T: The band's performance on stage was electric, their energy really got the crowd going and was constant throughout the whole show.
They did 3 encores (I think!) and ended, of course, with Slither.
Slash even got the double neck Gibson SG out, lit a fag and put the ever famous tophat on. He looked class. Duff was all over the stage along with Scott and Slash. The photo opportunities were great as they stood on top of the speakers at each side of the stage which was amazing for the people at the front.
All the guys had great crowd interaction, even Scott (and the megaphone) went up into the stands for about 5 minutes so no-one would miss out!
Matt's drumming was full of energy, as was Dave's guitar playing, he even played a solo with Slash doing a bit of rythym guitar...(for once!)
The time flew by and the next thing I knew it was over. :(
But the guys threw out any plectums and sticks they had left on the stage to the crowd and I managed to get a drumstick! This just made it a fuckin rockin' night.
I'm 100% definatly going to see them at least twice again and would recommend them to anyone, even if they didn't like their music as they put on a great show and it was absoulutly mad!
Velvet Revolver ROCK! :D
Thanks to Dale B: Amazing gig. Ga Ga's were ok, Biffy Clyro are a disgrace to music, crowd were bored through their set which seemed to last an eternity. Velvet Revolver were the business, I was right below Slash and he ruled! Even had the pleasure of meeting him and Matt Sorum after the show and got my album signed, my friend also got Matt to sign the drumstick which he caught! Legends already!
Thanks to Ryan: EXCELLENT is the only word to describe it. Velvet Revolver kicked ass. So cool to see Scott coming into the crowd the whole band were awesome. The Ga Gas were pretty good but the second band sucked. A great nites craic would go back tomorrow lol.
Thanks to Debbie K: Oh my gosh this was the best show I have ever been to!!! It was better than HIM and Linkin Park and they put on really good show but Velvet Revolver entertain you in every way you could possilbly want!!
The only problem for me was half way through the show I finished all the film in my camera and five minutes later Scott jumped off the stage, came along the side of the moshpit and jumped up into the seated part, 4 METRES AWAY FROM ME!!!! And I had no film left noooo!!!
Anyway yeah it was an amazing show, but only if you get involved and start singing the words and yelling because it really needs loads of audience participation!!
So everybody if you get the chance GO TO A Velvet Revolver SHOW!!! It's amazing but whatever you do don't use up all the film in your camera because the 2nd half is wayyyy better than the 1st!!!
Thanks to Laura: Travelled over 500 miles, spent nearly a grand on trains, taxis and hotels but it was worth every penny! Can't wait till next time they come - I thought they were fucking fantastic, my God though, is Duff fit !
Thanks to Patrick Cassidy: Well what can I say.. man it was fuckin lethal the atmosphere way brilliant and the crowd was amazing and I'm still hyped up about it. Slash was pure amazing and he lived up to everything I expected him to be "he my god" and he inspired me. Overall they were fuckin amazing and I hope they come back. Mooooossssssshhh
If anyone has any good pics of Slash close up please send them to me@ pcassidy4@aol.com as I have none cos my camara phone is pure shit thanks rock on!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to Doy and Teapot: Some ginger bitch was tryin to harvest my organs in the queue so they should have let us in earlier! I sent in a review already but now me an me mate have joined forces for a super review! We thought that the 1st support band, the Ga Ga's were promising, impressed by the frontman but the lead guitarist needs a little more variety in his solos and fills. Could be a band for the future, perhaps better live than in the studio, judgin on what we heard.
Second support act was Biffy Clyro. These boys were a piss n shit cocktail with a side of pubic hair ginger of course! Rather than be subjected to this balls we sat on the floor and sang some Audioslave and Velvet Revolver tracks to keep ourselves amused.
In Dublin the band were awe inspiring from start to finish. We rocked the whole way through. This time though things were a bit slow to start and Scott's vocals were sounding strained. The sound wasn't as heavy and this hindered the rock out. However the moment Scott bounced into the crowd the whole gig changed and there was some big rockin dished out. Slither was not good. It didn't have its usual impact on us. Some class numbers were the GNR tracks, Fall To Pieces, You Got No Right and Dave and Slash's guitar battle. Saunders is a walt and his tatoo is shit!!!
Thanks to Wee S: Oh my god!!! The show was so amazin! Slash just owned the stage! I was on the front row and I've never seen a Belfast crowd get so excited! Fuckin hell! Just amazin! They gotta come back! Duff was just lovin the crowd! Scott was pure class!
Thanks to Dave: These mother fuckers tore the roof down!! Unbelievable!!!!! Another great thing was the way that they worked the crowd with the speeches, guitar solos, GNR songs and when Scott walked round the seated crowd, well that was just the icing on the cake. Especially when I got to touch him....TWICE! I can't believe that when Velvet Revolver started out the fans were chanting AXL. Axl who?? is what I say. Scott is every bit as good a frontman as Axl. Hopefully I get the chance to see them again. Every song was awesome especially It's So Easy. That rocked. So did Slither (which they played as their very last song). Pure rock genius!!
Thanks to Dave: Best fuckin show yet. This was my 3rd time seeing them live and it was by far the fuckin best. Everybody was so into it and everyone sounded fuckin great. When I saw Duff you could just tell he was fucking lovin it, Duff is a fucking bass god. The sound was fuckin great in the arena and I hope they come back because they are the best fuckin rock band in the world. Velvet Revolver KICK ASS
Thanks to Vicki: It was great! Managed to get right up, one row from the front! Duff was amazing, he has the most incredible bedroom eyes when he looks straight at you he can reduce you to a gushy mess for days! The crowd loved it and I think the band, especially Slash, were really surprised at the welcome they got, prompting something along the lines of "This is out first time in Belfast, we didn't know you guys were so into it" from Slash! Hell yeah we're into it. Scott was great, nothing to Axl Rose, but a real performer in his own right. I have to mention Dave, because the poor litte bugger always gets over looked! He was brilliant too, strutting round, making eye contact with the crowd and rocking out! Slash was a GOD as usual, and how much did I scream when he brought out "the hat"! He had some of his really nice guitars there, the Double, the Les Paul, the Mockingbird...
It was amazing, I love it, everyone loved it!
They better come back when their new album is released!
Thanks to i love Duff: The show was great but did anyone else see Susan Mckagan there? Her and Mary (Scott's wife) were over at the right hand side of the stage and the beginning she (Susan) was making a home video! And me and my mates were in it! She was taping Duff rolling about the stage then she turned and taped the audience! Me and my mate recognized her and shot forward to be in the tape bouncing up and down and yelling "We love you Duff"! .
It rocked with the exception of Susan giving evil glares to anyone she could catch staring sexually at Duff! Piss off bitch, we're only looking, you get to have him(bitch)!!
Thanks to Adam Kerr: AAAAAAMAZING!!! I had a really great time there, got to see Slash. I would like to see them come again.
Thanks to Dan Collins: It was fucking mental, greatest show I've ever seen Velvet Revolver fucking rock, hope they come back soon, rock on fuckers!!!!!!!!
Thanks to Dee: Well what can I say. What a fuckin show. The Odyssey Arena rocked to its very foundations on Wednesday night. The boys didn't disappoint, although Scott's vocals at one or two parts was a bit rough. But he was forgiven when he sang a great cover of Wish You Were Here. Slash's performance was perfect as I expected. He could have been there on his own and still rocked the place. I hope they come back soon. We need bands like Velvet Revolver to come and rescue us from the crap we normally have to hear. Roll on Live 8.
Thanks to Brian: Really good show with 2 support acts but I just wanted to see Velvet Revolver. It was just as good as the Dublin show. I got a t-shirt I had not seen before very cool skull. Some guys were shouting we love you Slash very funny but I think they really meant it poor boys. Their shows are the best I hope they come back soon. Live8 will be cool.
Thanks to WHO'S THE DADDY: Best Concert EVER.
Arrived early, saw Slash going in the back door.
First was The Ga Ga's - Waiting for the big time they are.
Second - Biffy Clyro - Good but a bit mixed up with music taste.
Final - Velvet Revolver, unbelievable,nNo words good enough. Action from start to finish. Scott's voice was intense, Matt's drumming second to none. Dave (Edge lookalike, lol) top notch, Duff great voice and not too shabby playing and Slash at his normal PERFECTION.
The guys except Duff even signed loads of autographs on their way out. I only need Duffs in my programme, shame but never the less.
I have no complaints. A MUST SEE ROCK BAND.
(I was the guy in the Who's the Daddy top, and Matt I have told my mother and she's waiting.)
Thanks to Wayne Madden: Excellent gig! Amazing! Travelled from Dublin to see it happen and I'm telling you, Velvet Revolver are going to be the most amazing band at Live 8 on July 2nd and just blow everyone away! Literally one of the best gigs I've seen in a long while, but it's obvious the band have been touring for ages (not because they are tired on stage, but because they seem physically exhausted towards the end of the evening). Roll on Iceland! "Set Me Free" closes the main part of the show, and gives the crowd a taster of a rather different side to the band. While the song is indeed Velvet Revolver, its lyrics convey the band's struggle to escape drug-fuelled binges while building the foundations of this band. It's a fitting end to the main set and leaves the crowd wanting more, knowing that they'll get it.
Thanks to Peter Ferry: Brilliant gig - the crowd got well into it - and although Velvet Revolver were terribly cheesy and cliched at times "We've never been to Belfast, Ireland - but if we knew that you guys would have been so much into it - we would have come earlier" (Wheres my bucket??) Hahaha.
But seriously it was a great gig with It's So Easy, Fall to Pieces, You've got no Right being the highlights.
Also we met the band afterwards around the back of the arena! Very down to earth guys. Duff didn't come out that way and Scott didn't sign for many people but Dave, Matt and Slash signed for everyone!!! Chatting waway and everything!
Slash was chatting to everyone and Matt even came out into the street and took photos with people! He must never normally get attention! Poor guy! And he loves mother/duaghter combos! (Take from that what you will!)
Great gig and great gig - but lose the cheese!!!!
Thanks to Craig Ferguson: Man, what a gig, my first time seeing Velvet Revolver and it won't be my last, the whole band were electric the crowd was loving it me included. From they first stepped on stage till they left you could not take your eyes of them. Scott Weiland was amazing, he held the crowd so well and at one stage went into the middle of it and sang a part of a song there. Slash well what can you say, he had a solo in very song and he was as good as I had hoped. Duff was immense as well and I got one of his plecs so I went home happy. Velvet Revolver rocked Belfast in a way it won't be rocked again for a long time.
Thanks to Jake: Well what a night! I arrived early at the show and decided to watch the entire gig without drinking which is a first and 20 years! After standing around for only 25 mins opening act The Ga Ga's took to the stage in a flury of heavy beats combined with sweet harmonies. Their enigmatic frontman baited the crowd with his enthusiasm however I think they suffered only due to the fact that the majority of the crowd were all outside drinkin! Musically they were a great live act and visually they have a unique image however the singer needs to hone his stagecaraft a little as he appearred to struggle with his guitar strap when by his side. Overall tho an energetic, professional performance.
The next act, however, were quite possibly the worst band I have ever seen live. I know that everyone was there for Velvet Revolver but whoever choose these idiots above The Ga Ga's needs help. In all the years going to gigs I have never laughed out loud as much as I did when this band were on stage. It was liking watchin Spinal Tap perform a jazz prog rock fusion the difference being at least the Tap were ironic. The bassist was like a demented Paul scholes and the singer thought he was Jim Morrison after he joins Pink Floyd. Utter Shite.
At 930 I saw the unmistakeable swagger of Velvet Revolver as they walked backstage. There was a real sense of anticipation, something which I hadn't felt since last September's London Show. As the lights dimmed and Duff took centre stage the build up to the most eagerly awaited gig of the summer was awesome. Sucker Train Blues hit us like a juggernaut with the band as tight as ever. The Belfast crowd were as hungry as hyenas lapping it all up as Velvet Revolver slithered and swivelled around the stage.
Scotty was in fine form and the sound in the arena was top notch. His voice was very strong and he genuinely seemed to be enjoying himself. As usual Duff appeared to be the conductor of the orchestra and it is great to see him alert and full of running. From my position at the front left of the stage it was great to see the guys so close. The only downside was that Dave appeared a bit uninterested with the whole thing and didn't waken up until near the end. The set list was fairly standard but the inclusion of Floyd's Wish You Were Here was a great choice. What was interesting is that now when Velvet Revolver play Guns songs they get the same reaction as they do when they play their own..
A highlight of the night was Scotty going for a walkabout in the seated area. He told us it was all about trust and the crowd treated him with due respect as he snaked his way up through the fans. Very special. Slash told us that"you guys know what it's about" and indeed it was a great night for rock and roll. Good to see the bassist and singer from the GA Ga'S in the crowd too.
Overall a better show than Dublin but not as good as London. I think they need a new album soon however as they risk being overplayed and Duff needs rubber soles on his shoes to stop him falling on stage!
Thanks to O.O: That was my second time seeing the band and I have to admit they were a lot better than the last time in Dublin. Best gig I'd ever been to in fact. Hopefully they come back soon cause I'd recommend them to anyone.
Thanks to Danny F: Last nite went to the Belfast show, well what can I saw Velvet Revolver kicked ass, I queued up from about half 2 and after an everlasting wait we got in. I luckily got in the front row clingly to the barrier the whole nite. The show was amazing, sound was great, lights were fantastic and the band sounded great and put on a class show. There was a good atmosphere in the Odyssey and the band seemed to enjoy being there. I think it was even better than when they played in the Point in January, Slash's touch with the voice box was great, overall an amazing show.
Thanks to Santiago: Well there it was. I have to say I never thought I'd see the band play in my home town. Third time I've seen them and they look fatigued. But you have to expect that since they've been on an album launch tour for 2 years.
Venue
Belfast Odyssey Arena is a 10,000 concert stadium normally used for ice hockey, concerts, indoor motor cross, that sort of stuff. It's the biggest indoor venue in Northern Ireland.
Crowd
I recon there was about 4000ish in, with the hall partitioned half way. That said, I was at the front and the crowd sounded twice its number. Average age looked about 17 (I only looked at the females, probably jumps to about 300 if you include the blokes).
Sound
Really, really good. All credit to the venue and the band tecks. Good to hear the support acts getting a blast at the full PA system. Sometimes headliners don't like the support acts getting a good run for fear of being upstaged.
Main Event.
Musically amazing. A slick, professional show.
Ahem, they played all their hits...
The band has great presence on stage and their crowd interaction is fantastic. High points where Scott's escape attempt into the crowd, Duff running about like a maniac (up to the point when he fell on his arse), Dave looking wasted, Slash's majestic solos and Matt's timing.. spot on all the time. Oh yea, the megaphone guy making a balls of setting it on a floor. Wish You Were Here is a great number, well performed.
Scott's voice went very deep throughout the gig, a bit Bowie (almost David Coverdale) Esq. Same as when they did that Beatles cover at the Grammy's. Which is fine if you're trying to get someone into bed or singing in the shower, but maybe not so great for a punk rock track. I got the impression the gear wasn't tuned for the vocal key in some of the songs.
Shame they didn't pay any new stuff (Come On, Come In sounds great).
Must mention the support acts.
Biffy Clyro - The Cream on acid, but with no technical ability. Screaming into a mic and thrashing the top end of a fret board doesn't make you a good rock band, just made the GaGa's sound good and Velvet Revolver sound superb. Should have stuck to jazz odyssey.
The GaGa's. First band on. Really surprised, good band, not much variation in their work though, even for a small support set. Looks promising. Not sure about the hat on the LV.
When all's said and done it was well worth it, good night out fantastic rock band, which is what we've crying out for years to get. Hope all the lads enjoyed their stay, and hope they swing back this way for another crack. Whomever's wife/ girlfriend that was videoing from the bottom of the stage was the second best distraction I've ever had a concert (I should have been a rock star). Yes Scott, we really are fuckin into it.
Rant over
Thanks to Robert : What a show! They played Mr. Brownstone and the crowd went wild. Duff was class, Slash was class, Sorum was class, bit dissapointed about Sorum not pullin off 1 of his almighty drum solo's but what the hell, I've got the Use Your Illusions 2 dvd to keep me goin. All round an amazin show, I would gladly have payed double for the ticket.
Thanks to Sarah Louise: The best concert I had ever been too, when Scott jumped into the crowd, it was magic!!!! Everybody was so cool even got to shake hands with Duff's wife!!!! And I caught one of Dave's pleks!!!!! I was right at the front I could almost touch Slash. The music and Scott voice were bang on, true professional rock n roll performers!!!! This was my second time seeing Velvet Revolver and I can't wait till the next one!!!
Thanks to Ellen : O my god!!!! It was amazing!! Slash is a god in his own right, Duff well I actually am in love with him, really he made me emotional!! And Scott is the best frontman ever!! He came right down in to the crowd I was like 2 inches away from him!! Whooaa best night ever!! Though being in a pit when you are a short blonde 15 year old is kinda painful!! But it was all good!! Crowd went crazy to the GNR stuff man is was amazing!! Never forget it! Ever! *THESE MEN ARE THE BEST!!!!!*
Thanks to Teapot: Second time seein Velvet Revolver. Saw them in Dublin were they were far better. The first half of this concert was not the best. The vocals were too loud and the instruments were too quiet at times. The gig was rescued by Scott who went into the stands for a big sing song. After that the gig picked up with some big rokin'. The first support act (the Ga Ga's) were okay but Biffy Clyro were just pure piss!!! Highlights were the GNR tracks and You got no right. They need to start playin Loving the Alien. Still haven't heard it live and it's disappointin'. A good gig but could have been more rockin.
Thanks to Experienced rocker: MIGHTY!!! What a fantastic show as can be gathered from my penname, I have been rockin for ages, and seen some mighty fine acts, but after last nights show, I feel that "This is it", rock valhalla. The best gig that my wife and myself have been ever at. PERIOD. Scott having the trust and bravery to come into the crowd was awesome, my missus even got to touch him on the way past.
To see thousands of people looking up onto one of the tiers to see Scott was a surreal experience, something I will remember the rest of my life.
The band knew they were in the company of an enthusiastic, and passionate crowd, Scott got the good vibes early on, and even Slash made some similar comments.
The sound quality was really good, (better than the previous two times we have seen them). The guys were really into it, and you knew they felt at ease with this crowd.
What more can I say, well actually lots :-
Best song- there was no best song they were all bloody good."Big Machine", and "Sex Type Thing" were used to crank the audience up. Brilliant.
The Belfast audience, as ever, put their heart and sole into it, like they usually do.
Anyone who had any doubts and missed the show have missed the best gig that Belfast has ever seen, BY FAR !
As the banner says Velvet Revolver.
Rock and Fucking Roll!!!!!!
Thanks to John S: What a show!!!!!! It was truly amazing. The guys played an amazing set and although I can't remember the set list I'm sure someone will post it. They played all the usuals as well as Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here which everyone loved. During Sex Type Thing Scott came out into the crowd and was in the seating area gettin some audience participation which f'in ruled. Got autographs from the band after the show as well which was the best way to end an amazing night.
Thanks to Duff's Doll: One word...FAN-FUCKIN-TASTIC! The band sounded and looked AMAZING! They have such a great stage presence and the sound was brilliant, you heard enough guitar and drums but without covering over Scott's awesome vocals. It was the best fuckin concert of my life to be honest! Scott actually came into the audience and walked right past me, swear I thought I was gonna faint! Duff and Slash were flying all over the place and didn't miss a single note! Matt was pounding the shit out of his drums like a man demented and Dave was struttin round like a man on the mission! The group interacted well with the audience and really got the place going, so much so that crowd surfacing from the audience became a regular problem for the security dudes! All in all a brilliant night and for anyone that hasn't seen them, GO NOW!!!!!!!
Thanks to Setanta: The show was awesome, still can't hear. If you can, definitly get to a Velvet Revolver gig, awesome really awesome!
Thanks to Big Rick: The band hit the stage at about 9.30 beginning with Sucker Train Blues. The arena was so out and the crowd was freakin out. It was so amazing just to see these legends. Believe me you will not get a better show than that people. The whole band was amazing especially Scott who was dancing like a snake he then walked around the seating area the third song in and everyone went nuts to touch him luckly me and my friend big Dee had that great opportunity. Slash was playing his double neck SG and wearing his top hat during Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here which was incredible. The whole band had the crowd rearing when they went to the mike and made great funny speeches. This was the greatest gig I've ever been to and I've been to a lot of good gigs this is one I'll definitely never forget.
Thanks to Mark Vaughan: Aw man, it was so fuckin great, I'm still fuckin hyped about it, although it was only last nite. Man Slash IS GOD should be written in London somewhere, seriously, amazing nite, amazing band, went too fast I'm outta luck and I don't even give a fuck!!
Thanks to Brian Irvine: AWESOME, what a great live band, this was the first time I've seen em I was really impressed. The sound was great so was the set list which consisted of most of the Contraband album as well as 'It's So Easy' 'Mr. Brownstone' and an incredible cover of Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here', the crowd was louder than Scott at this point!! Overall it was an awesome show loved every minute of it, although Biffy Clyro were supporting and I don't like em, the GA*GA*s were good though. I would go see Velvet Revolver again in an instant. Every member was in top form even go a wee solo during a jam when Scott was in the audience from Dave which was sweet. EXCELLENT!!!
Thanks to Chunks: I had seen them before in Dublin but was an absolutely unbelievable show, was talking to Dave then got a pick off him. Scott I thought was really on fire and did an effects solo in Sex Type Thing. They went through an amazing version of Wish You Were Here even though Scott was a little unsure at the start. Dave blew me away in his solo off with Slash who stole the show completely for me during Set Me Free. They finished off with a 10 minute long Slither. All in all brilliant.
