Thanks to Eliot: This concert was just amazing, even though they only had a 1:15 hour slot maybe even less. Cant memba, plus they should have played more Guns n Roses songs because they really get the crowd going mental, but they were crazy.

Thanks to Marc: Velvet Revolver were by far the best performers of the whole weekend. They should have headlined, as they done a better set than Black Sabbath. Slash was like a god, as usual and I got within feet of Scott when he came into the crowd. It was the greatest show on earth!!! Keep on rocking.

Thanks to Kev H: I managed to get access all area passes for the Saturday and the Sunday as I was working at Donington. Velvet Revolver played the Saturday night. I was standing at the side of the stage along with a lot of the bands who had played that day. As soon as they hit the stage the crowd went crazy. What a set!!!!! They played some old Guns N Roses classics as well, which were Mr Brownstone and It's so easy. Just before the encore Duff went off stage behind the curtain lit a fag and decided to take a piss all over the back area of the stage..............rock n roll or what!!!!!!

Thanks to Tom McHale: Well well well, another fucking amazing show from Velvet Revolver. 3rd time seeing them and definitly the best in my mind. I found it awesome how they walked on to the stage and waited for a while before playing, cos normally they run straight on and play, so I thought that stood out. What really pissed me of though was the crowd. Scott said "I know it's been a long day Donnington but wake the fuck up!", we weren't all knackred, WE COULDN'T BLOODY MOVE!!! The most packed gig I've ever been to. I was so crushed I was about to be sick on the guy in front of me, but I saved myself and asked the security to pull me out. Walking past Velvet Revolver at the front on my way out was bloody amazing. I got out when they were playing Wish You Were Here and I got an awesome veiw of Slash's twin neck and Scott singing. I went round the back and chilled with a beer while recovering from my little incident... watching the worlds best rock n roll band play at home once again. www.bullettheory.co.uk ...

Thanks to Mirror: This show was amazing, Velvet Revolver really out did themselves with this live performance. Slash's solo's were extremely energetic, he looked very proud to be up on stage. Crowd surfers made their way to the front as Velvet Revolver's playlist got better and better. Noticabely when Fall To Pieces was played, Velvet Revolver had done their job and the rest of their performance just got better.

Thanks to Matt: Velvet Revolver were on fire!!! Scott was on form as usual and Slash, well it's Slash! Did a great Pink Floyd cover as well as It's So Easy, Mr Brownstone and the Contraband songs. Set the mood for Black Sabbath great.

Thanks to Ahmed: Velvet Revolver made my day at Donnington Park. It was the first time I saw them. I didn't think they would be that good, but they were just awesome. All the band was great. They were dancing and playing like crazy. They were definitely the best at Download.

Thanks to Jadey: These guys just can't go wrong! Opened with STB ended with Slither! Crowd went wild when Scott jumped off stage to sing into the middle of the audience! I touched his hand! Didn't want to wash it but had no choice as I was pitch black from all the dust from all the moshing on that day!
Check out the highlights of download on 18th and 19th this weekend on c4! p.s Did anyone win tickets to live8? If not your gonna miss out on Velvet Revolver! I'll be there!

Thanks to giuseppe: From Italy to England to see the only true rockers of Download! Oh, not "Download" but - as Scott said to the crowd - "Donington festival"! Excellent the first 3 songs ("Sucker train blues" is now a classic), very inspired "Fall to pieces", surely the best ballad heard in these 3 days of concerts. Unfortunaly, "Wish you were here", their tribute to English fans, didn't work. Well sung by Scott, the song wasn't sung by the crowd. Maybe they thought it could be not too spontaneous. G'n'R classics "It's So Easy" and "Mr Brownstone" totally kept the audience. What to say about the perfect chaos, the balanced rage of "Slither" and his long and oriental vocal intro? Slash was brilliant in every song and his solos were fresh and not old fashioned as some critics wrote. Duff and Matt pumped up their solid rythm for an hour, without a pause. REAL ROCK AND M***** F***** ROLL, my friends!

Thanks to Tom: Wow, well what can I say, what a night, it was amazing. They played much better than when I saw them on the arena tour even though the set time was cut short :(. I think the band played well together and I got a great view from down at the front.

Thanks to James Wood: My 3rd Velvet Revolver gig and another awesome show, I was right at the front getting crushed, but that did not matter as I was watching an awesome live band. To the guy who says that Dave was covering Slash's parts, I think your talking rubbish. Admittedly sometimes the sound wasn't perfect, but all the band members were awesome. Mr Brownstone was brilliant as was Slither, Sucker Train Blues and the rest. Wish You Were Here was a pleasant suprise. Overall it was a brilliant show, topped only by Black Sabbath. I was suprised at how much the crowd was into Velvet Revolver, it was mental. Good luck with the new album guys, and get back to touring the UK as soon as possible. Rock N Fuckin Roll!!!

Thanks to just_me: Velvet Revolver were incredible as always and blew away the competition. Sabbath were the only band who could have followed without being upstaged. (They were of course awesome as well, still got it in spite of what people might say!)

They were really going all out with their performance. They were the only band I saw where anyone except the singer left the main section of the stage and even then they would just go onto the platform in front. Velvet Revolver were everywhere! Scott went right down into the crowd at one point and Slash, Duff and Dave were making full use of the stage, even climbing around the cameras to get right to the edge!

They were really relaxed and obviously enjoying every minute of it, really getting people going. Dave looked a little nervous at times but looking at the size of the crowd I can't blame him!

Thanks to Chris: WOW!!!!! FUCKING AMAZING!

It's the third time I've seen Velvet Revolver on tour now -on their third trip to Britain. Me and a friend (Luke) got to within about 5-10 meters of the stage (to the right where they kept coming to either scream at the audience, solo, or just define rock n' roll excelence in general). They started with Sucker Train Blues, Do It For The Kids and Headspace of course, which was then followed by Dirty Little Thing and Fall To Pieces. I was surprised to hear FTP so early in the set, especially followed by DLT and Superhuman preceded FTP. Scott seemed to be annoyed at the media (I can understand after reading his recent statement) and kept changing the lyrics to certain songs or just ranting about them to the audience. Scott also played to the audience excellently last night. During the slow section of Sex Type Thing (preceded by a very lively version of It's So Easy), he walked off the stage and walked down the vip section of the crowd to the lighting rig about 50m away. He then stood up on the fence with thousands of fans standing around him and just started singing. All he had was a roadie to hold him up, from being dragged into the pit. Last night was definitely the best 'playing-to-the-crowd' that I have seen so far from Scott.

They then did Pink Floyd's - Wish You Were Here (for true fans could tell it was coming, not only from knowing the setlists to other shows, but by the fact that Duff was wearing a Syd Barrett (the ex-member of Pink Floyd that the song was written about) t-shirt.)

They must have had to shorten their setlist, as they did not follow this with You Got No Right, which was annoying as Slash already had his double neck out. After the encore, they went into Mr. Brownstone, which was very well received, almost as well as It's So Easy. Then for the last song, Slither, during the second intro/slow section where it reverts to the same drum and bass line as at the beginning, just before it was about to get heavy again-during the pause-a low flying plane flew directly over the stage providing an awesome roar that led them into the end part of the song.

All in all it was an amazing concert. My third one, my first festival Velvet Revolver gig (well it is their first in Britain). It was awesome!!!

Btw, my friend that I talked about earlier... lets just say I think there are going to be more tickets sold and another Contraband album sold in the near future! :)

P.S. I will send in some of my photos for the site later.

Thanks to The squshed: Except from some techical difficulties and crowd surges (which left me squashed and ruined my day). Velvet Revolver rocked...bringing rock n fukin roll back to Donnington only to be topped by Sabbath.

Thanks to Tom Atkinson: OK, Velvet Revolver are one of my favourite bands (saw them on their last tour as well) and one of the reasons I went to Download this year (along with BLACK SABBATH!) and I couldn't wait to see them get on stage and play. As usual they opened up with STB and through that song, the sound kept dropping out but it was ok....but after that song things got worse, the soundman was adding loads of echo to Scott's vocals in every song - far too much - and the crap sound seemed to knock the band off because Slash's guitar playing was dissapointing to say the least. I got the feeling that he didn't have a wah pedal because his solos sounded like it had no effect on or maybe he couldn't hear himself or something, his monitors might not have been working...for some parts Dave played Slash's parts and Slash just played the rhythm! Considering how awesome they were last time I saw them, this was very dissapointing, although the band probably isn't to blame, just that soundman because the sound was awful all the way through and he added loads of echo in EVERY SONG!

Basically the soundman was putting loads of echo in when the band didn't want any and none in when a bit of echo would have sounded cool! The sound dropped out LOTS as well, far more than any of the other bands. The soundman wasn't quite as bad during Black Sabbath's set, but still could have been a lot better.

This won't put me off seeing Velvet Revolver again, but I was very dissapointed at this show.

Thanks to GoDuffGo: WOW!! Sums up the show! They just get better everytime I see them!! I had a good view of them but the bonus was in Sex Type Thing when Scott come rite in the crowd and I was soooo close to him!! Just couldn't reach!! It was just soo amazing to be there!! Loved Wish You Were Here!! And the guys looked cool as always!!!

Roll on the next Velvet Revolver gig!!!!!

Thanks to Anonymous: They were absolutely amazing. Scott went right up to the crowd. Slash rocked and he put his top hat on for the last song! Duff rocked like hell, looked super sexy in his beanie. Dave spat alot but rocked. I thought the whole show was awesome and I will definitely be going to see them again.

Thanks to Liam: They rocked, better than Sabbath, their version of Wish You Were Here was well good, Slash was the best as usual.

Thanks to Phil: Amazing show again from Velvet Revolver. It was good seeing them on a huge stage in an outdoors envoironment compared to the arena tour in January. They all looked excellent and ran around loads jumping off platforms and dodging cameras. The set was short than normal because of time restrictons.

The band rules tighter than ever and showed they are stronger than ever and definetely NOT breaking up, loads better musically than when I saw the in January and I got to touch Scott when he jumped off stage. They were the best band of the 3 days and compared to a Black Sabbath, who were average at best. Velvet Revolver should have definitely headlined. Can't wait to see them again!
