Reviews (20) [ send in your own review/pictures of the Mount Pleasant show ]

Thanks to Mary Brandt: Oh man. Before I went to this concert, I had never even HEARD of Velvet Revolver, or Stone Temple Pilots, for that matter (Guns & Roses is pretty much a household name). When I left, I had been transformed into a completely new person and a total Velvet Revolver fan. The show was AMAZING and the songs completely rocked! The guys especially did a good job with their cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here". Wow. Just...wow. Keep rockin', Velvet Revolver! You're the greatest supergroup ever!

Thanks to Fred: Looked great, the band was great and a very entertaining show!!! But sounded terrible. Audio guy must have been having a bad day.

Thanks to RockStar: Can't wait to see you all again it was the greatest show. I'll see this year. The sound was great and of course Scott was perfect!! Keep on Rockin Mother Fuckers!!!!

Thanks to Susan: We drove down from Toronto to see the show. We met Slash – by mere chance. It was generous of him, to take the time to talk to us and the moment certainly increased our own energy!

The show was fantastic. The crowd was certainly way too subdued but we had a great time. We were in the 13th. Row, aisle seats and our view was perfect.

I would sum up the concert by saying: incredible talent, energy and showmanship. Finally… a rock concert, that is truly worthy of the words Rock n Roll.

Someone tell Velvet Revolver, to tour in Canada!

Thanks to Maggie: Second show for me. First time, I would say it was one of the best live shows I have witnessed. Gotta say, I was thinking that after their break, they may not be into it, but they ROCKED OUT. There's something raw and super sexual about them and their live performances. LOVED their vesion of Wish You Were Here. They have an energy that is mismerizing. I was disappointed in the crowd. But it made for better seats for us!

Anyone know how to become a Velvet Revolver groupie??? hahaha

Thanks to RJ: This was my first ever rock concert and it was awesome! I had a blast!

Thanks to Carol Anderson: Wow! What a show! Loved when the guys jammed out on the encore then went into "Wish You Were Here". Too cool! I wanted to meet Slash so bad, no chance last night that I saw. Perfect night for an outdoor show, so much talent! It was just an absolute treat! Drummer rocked his guts out! Thanks for the nite out and best wishes with the rest of the tour! Be safe and enjoy! I was G & R star struck, and I was a Velvet Revolver virgin. Not no more!!! You all Rock! :)

Thanks to Lynn: They get better every time I see them! Very good show. I can't remember the exact set list, but they added Dead and Bloated and Come On Come In. They played both It's So Easy and Mr. Brownstone. 2 encores. They did Wish You Were Here. The audience was a bit subdued. It was all reserved seating, so no pit. I was on my feet from the beginning, but the people in the rows in front of me stayed sitting until Scott told them to get on their feet and they did. There was no pushing or shoving (which was unusual for a rock concert), but I kind of liked it that way. Even though it was a subdued audience, I heard only positive comments after - "awesome show" "great rock n' roll show". Nothing negative. They played their asses off!

Thanks to G-rice: The casino goin' crowd didn't know what hit 'em! Old school setup with the stage placed right behind the casino parking garage. The floor seats were chairs set up in the parking lot. Velvet Revolver's tour buses were out in plain view for everyone to see. "Dead & Bloated" and "Come On, Come On" were two stellar additions to the setlist. Just missed Slash's pick flick. Another very rad Velvet Revolver show. Rock & F N Roll!!

Thanks to unknown: It was a really good show and I wish they would come back to Mount Pleasant, Michigan sometime in the future. It wasn't a sellout but it was one hell of a packed house. I have some pictures...

Thanks to Rob: It was an awesome show, probably the best I have ever seen. They played just about every song on their Contraband album. I can't remember which two they left out. They also did a cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" and they did "Mr. Brownstone" and some others. Mostly STP but I'm not really clear on the names of the songs.

Thanks to Mickey: Man you guys played a hell of a show last night Scott what ever made you think of using the megaphone? That was awesome!!!!! And Slash you did a tremedous job as usual!!!!! I just have one request next time you come back to Michigan you would play Novemember Rain what you do in the solo is the greastest I've ever heard!!!!!

Thanks to Melissa: Wow. The guys played an amazing concert. The crowd was a bit calm, but I was rocking my ass off. Brian Tichy did a real good fill in for Matt. Great concert and I gotta see them again.

Thanks to Brad Hill: Despite the cloudy day, the rain quit right before the show and started right after. The rock gods were watching. Scott made a quick slam at Hoobastank saying they weren't going to play no f******" Reason" and kicked our butts. Scott dedicated "Falls to Pieces" to Matt and rocked the audience with "Wish You Were Here". AWESOME!

Thanks to Mick: The band sounded great (as always) but after having seen them before I will say that Scott Weiland didn't seem as into it as in the past. Don't get me wrong, he absolutely seemed to put everything he had into it but the crowd was VERY lame and I'm sure that didn't give him much of a charge to try and over impress. I think the venue is at least partially to blame for the state of the audience. Security was VERY tight, sounds good on the surface but c'mon, it's a fucking ROCK CONCERT! I don't think the casino is use to having that type of crowd and they were probably a little concerned about it.

Velvet Revolver pretty much just hammered out song after song, not much talking in between and Scott didn't head into the audience (like at The Palace show back in April). He mentioned Matt Sorum's pinky and thanked Brian for filling in (AWESOME job!!!), but all the talking sounded very rehearsed, it didn't sound like he was ever really saying what was on his mind. God, this review is starting to sound kinda negative, WTF is wrong with me? They SO fucking tore it up! They also played "Come On, Come In" for the first time.

The one thing that by FAR was the coolest thing about the whole day was that the band was just chillin' around the hotel! Un-fucking-real! We ran into Duff and Dave in the lobby and Slash and Brian were just hanging out at the hotel bar having cocktails! Slash said he was tired and really wanted to get something to eat before the show but he was still cool enough to BS with us for a few (until too many people started crowding him and he decided to leave). He's a living legend and was so cool with everybody, even though you could tell he really just wanted to relax. Never saw Weiland anywhere but on stage, the rest of the band was just walking around and hanging out. I still can't believe it!

Thanks to Dave: Unbelievable show. One of the best ever. The band displayed tons of energy and the sound was first rate, it was crystal clear. You could hear all of the vocals, rants and political statements clearly. The large outdoor arena next to the casino is a perfect venue. After Duff opened Sucker Train Blues, Scott came out in his military general's hat and sunglasses. After Sucker Train, Scott told the crowd that "We're Velvet Revolver and we play #$%&ing Rockin Roll! We're not Hoobastank, and you're not going to hear "The Reason". He also said something about the press and how they can go %^*& themselves. During the show he used the bullhorn strategically and perfectly. He's a master with it and you can tell he's had years of experience using it. I have no idea why other artists defiantly refuse to use it. They played everything from Contraband except Loving the Alien, Spectacle and Dirty Little Thing. Dead and Bloated was fantastic and the hit of the night was none other than Come on Come in which they absolutely tore up. After hearing it live, it clearly is one of rock's top songs, putting it in the 99th percentile. Other highlights were You Got no Right, Sex Type Thing and then Illegal I where they demonstrated tremendous rhythm. It's an awesome song and should be played on every radio station along with Headspace which is a radical rocker. The crowd really enjoyed Fall to Pieces and the lunghorses enjoyed taking their lighters out. The crowd also sang along to Wish you here. Other highlights were Set me Free with the long extension at the end where Dave and Slash exchanged solos, demonstrating their monstrous talents. You could tell everyone was in awe. Brian filled in well for Matt at drums which shows how good he really is. Scott said "We recently lost one of our brethren, one of our comrades to an injury. Brian is one of our good friends and is filling in for Matt who will be back soon". Mr. Browstone was excellent and Scott came onto the stage after the intro with maracas to which the crowd erupted. During the intro to Wish you were, Scott went backstage to retrieve some tobacco products and you could see him lurking the darkness in the background with his Northwest Airlines pilot hat on, the lights reflecting off his sunglasses. You could tell he was impressed with the artistry of Slash, Duff and Dave. They closed with a long version of Slither which is just a gigantic song. At the end, Dave showed his 35 inch vertical and athletic ability by taking a running jump across the stage while playing his guitar. Slash played parts of the song with his guitar behind his back which was incredible. After the show, everyone was ranting and raving about the show. I can't wait until their next album and tour.

Thanks to Jakester: Great show! Crowd WAS subdued - very true. The people around me were sitting down - isn't that a sin at a rock concert? Even Scotty said, "We are not Hoobastank...we won't be playing 'The f'n Reason'. So stand up!" Slash's solos sounded great and Scotty's vocals were pretty good most of the time. He was a bit flat on a few songs, but overall not bad. He uses his megaphone a lot, but it's a cool effect. I met/got autographs from Duff, Brian, & Slash after the show as they checked out of the hotel. All were very cool, especially Brian. He made a comment about being "just another GNR fan that got a lucky break" in regards to playing drums for the next few shows. He played very well tonight. They played Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" and of course encored with "Mr. Brownstone" and "Slither". I think they sounded great, even without Matt.

Thanks to Ewak7: The show was great, just the kick in the pants that this little burg needs. They opened with Sucker Train Blues, rocked it hard and never looked back. The light show and sound were pretty good for an outdoor arena and the crowd really got into the STP covers (Dead and Bloated, Sex Type Thing). The crowd was a little mellow but were able to raise enough noise for two encores, the first one opening with a rendition of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here and thrown in there was G&R's Mr. Brownstone, which woke up some snoozers and brought them to their feet. It was truly a throwback show, showing that some bands still know what rock and roll is all about!

Thanks to Nicole: Velvet Revolver's show on 8/11/05 kicked ass!! I am 23 years old and never really got into G&R (sorry guys), and liked STP somewhat, but when Contraband came out I thought it was THE BEST rock cd I have ever heard! So when it came to seeing Velvet Revolver in concert I hesitated then decided to buy a couple tickets to the show in Mount Pleasant. I am very happy I did because the show rocked.... I love Velvet Revolver!!! Even my husband (who wasn't into Velvet Revolver) LOVED the show-- he said they are the best live performance he has ever seen. Anyway, to Velvet Revolver: congrats on a great show!!

Thanks to Twist: Was a great show! Brian Tichy was superb filling in for Matt. Crowd was a bit subdued but the guys played their asses off!
