help out

To help keep this site running the way it does now and even growing in the future, please help out by making donations to help cover the incurred hosting costs.
I'm not asking for big donations although they are welcome, but rather numerous small donations. If everyone gives $.50 - $1.00 on a regular basis that would be a tremendous help.

This latest site addition will hopefully expand over the next few weeks with more additions, but what's up now should serve as a good start!

Rolling Stone update: Velvet Revolver load new cd!

Thanks to Sverre for this link and new article from Rolling Stone:

Velvet Revolver will release their debut album, Contraband, on May 18th, preceded by a new single, "Slither," which will make its way to radio late next month.
The hard-rocking supergroup features former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland backed by former Guns n' Roses members, guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum. Guitarist Dave Kushner rounds out the lineup.

"As a whole, the album is a true representation of the best aspects of STP's music, and the best aspects of Guns n' Roses, when they were at their best," Weiland told Rolling Stone late last year, "vicious, streamlined, living off strippers, and their music was great. It's a perfect marriage between the two."

Among Contraband's songs, McKagan called "Fall to Pieces" "an arena rocker," and Weiland said of "Slither," "[it's] a dark, prodding heavy one that definitely has an old STP vibe to it." "Sucker Train Blues," "Super Human," "You Got No Right," "Set Me Free" and "Headspace" are among the other ten songs to make the record from a pool of more than fifty. The group co-produced the set with Josh Abraham (Limp Bizkit, Staind). "It's an album," McKagan said. "It's twelve songs. It's not a single with eleven fillers. It's a journey."

Velvet Revolver are planning a full touring schedule for 2004, though no dates have been confirmed yet.

Billboard update about 'Contraband'!

Billboard updated their news section with a little snippet about 'Contraband', saying 'Slither' will be out March 23 on U.S. radio (instead of the 22nd that was reported earlier), and that other songs to be included on the album are 'Sucker Train Blues and 'Set Me Free.' This does confirm some earlier suggestions that the rumoured song title 'Sucker Train Blues' is indeed the right one instead of the Blabbermouth.net-rumoured titleof 'Trainsucker Blues'. Thanks go out to Boomy for the link!

Dave Checks In.

Dave Kushner checked in on the forums today, and left the following message. Many thanks Dave for keeping us updated!

Hey everyone, First of all, I'd like to really thank everyone for thier kind words of encouragement and congrats regarding my recent wedding !!!! I just came from duff's b-day dinner. It was really great. The band, the wives, friends, family, even izzy showed up . As far as the record and everything,it's all still looking good. The record is really fucking good !!!!! It's a balls out , heavy rock record. Not one rock single and then a bunch of mid tempo "safe" songs. We're also getting geared up to do a video, hopefully later in the month. Thanx again everyone for your support and patience. - Dave kushner

Scott's Court date update.

From MTV: Scott Weiland got a start date of February 18 for his DUI trial at a hearing Thursday (February 5) in Los Angeles. His attorney and doctor, meanwhile, released statements that the singer had not changed rehab facilities in the last month in defiance of the court order, but rather at the suggestion of his recovery counselors. "We were under the impression that Scott's move was not against the court's wishes," his attorney Michael Nasatir said. Weiland's primary recovery specialist, Dr. Drew Pinsky, said that the rehab move to a non-lockdown facility was made after detox to help Weiland "get back to the basics of sobriety while he pursued other treatment, which is a long treatment ... but that does not require a hospital." The joint statements also claimed that Weiland was addressing mental-health issues that "have an organic neuropsychological basis and are pharmacologically treatable." Weiland's rep could not elaborate on what the singer's mental-health issues are.

Official statement regarding Scott's situation.

Representatives for SCOTT WEILAND today clarified some recent news about his recovery process, his legal status and plans for the future. Recent news reports stated that the VELVET REVOLVER frontman (and former Stone Temple Pilots singer) had walked out of, or was discharged from, a Pasadena, California recovery facility after one month. Although WEILAND did move to a sober living facility, it was at the suggestion and approval of his doctors and recovery counselors.

Mike Nasatir, a WEILAND attorney, says, “We were under the impression that Scott’s move was not against the court’s wishes and that Scott was in compliance with the court’s orders.”

Dr. Drew Pinsky, WEILAND’s primary recovery specialist and head of Las Encinas Hospital’s Chemical Dependency Program, said, “We felt that Scott completed detox by achieving the goals we set for him; he struggled diligently against a bad disease and we felt it was time for him to go to a lower level of care. It was time for him to return into the sober community and get back to the basics of sobriety while he pursued other treatment, which is a long treatment—something that will take months and months—but that doesn’t require a hospital. It is unclear to me what is to be gained by putting him back in an in-patient environment; I am not clear that this is a good use of resources for this patient.”

WEILAND has been complying with the court order as the court acknowledged in his January 9 progress report. WEILAND, according to his attorneys, has not abused illegal drugs or alcohol and is under his doctor’s care. Scott continues to proactively and successfully address mental health issues, which have an organic neuropsychological basis and are pharmacologically treatable.

Weiland wants nothing more than to successfully comply with the court’s orders, continue his sobriety in the community, work with his bandmates and ultimately be reunited with his wife and children.
