July 25Camp Freddy to release Surrender for "Employee of the Month" movieThanks to Velvet Revolver: Billy Morrison recently talked about what Camp Freddy songs will be in "Employee of the Month" movie. "We have finished three tracks, of which two will make the movie and the soundtrack album. One is Cheap Trick's 'Surrender' (which features Matt Sorum and Scott Weiland) and the other is a choice between '20th Century Boy' (by Marc Bolan) and 'The Jean Genie' (by David Bowie). The tracks came out really well." July 24Rumour about VR touring South America in NovemberThanks to nightrain_1: Rockaxis, a Chilean rock website has reported that VR will appear in November in Chile for a South American tour. Nothing has been confirmed yet. Matt talks about Rick Rubin and the albumThanks to Brian: Matt Sorum talked to ABC Radio's ePrep that no producer has been chosen yet, but the band has spoken with Rick Rubin, hoping to bring him on board. They hope that the cd will hit stores in the spring 2007. "We've been talking to Rick Rubin," Sorum revealed. "So hopefully he's gonna come on board, because I think he's just a great song guy. And his advice to us, which was great advice, was, 'Write as many songs as possible.' He's listened to a lot of our riffs and different parts that we have. He's a very honest guy, and even if he doesn't produce us, he's given us a good sense of what we need to go for, and that's just great songs." The cd will be called "Libertad" but Matt dismisses Scott's statements that it'll be a concept record. "You know, Scott said something about a concept album," Sorum told ABC Radio's ePrep. The cd will benefit World Hunger Year (WHY), a nonprofit organization that strives to fight against hunger and poverty in America.
