Reviews (13) [ send in your own review/pictures of the Cincinatti show ]

Thanks to Kyle: Slash Duff Dave Matt and of course Scott..............you guys fucking rocked!!! Best damn show I've ever seen and I have on two bad points. Either I was deaf or I didn't hear a guitar solo on Slither (of course the song kicked ass it still woulda been a lot better if I heard the guitar solo) two, and this is a small one, I really wanted to hear Dirty Little Thing and maybe Interstate Love Song by Stone Temple Pilots. Other than that no complaints. Kickass hardcore rockin show. I can't wait to see another rockin show of Velvet Revolver. Please come back!!!!!!!! Can't wait for the release of The Dirty Little Thing video! Please you are the only one's who can keep true rock and roll alive.

Best aspects: Scott's hat and blowhorn. Slash's guitar (you haven't lost it my friend) and seeing some of my favorite rock stars in one kickass band. Dave you are one kickass dude too! And finally...the giant ROCK N FUCKIN ROLL scroll type thing

Favorite performances: Sex Type Thing, Fall to Pieces, Big Machine, Set Me Free, Do it for the kids, Sucker Train Blues, and of course Slither!

Suggestions: Play outside. (like a river bend or somethin) the sound will come out better. Play Interstate Love Song or Plush and get Stone Temple Pilots back together and have them as like an opening act or co-headliners.

Thanks again for one hell of kickass mother fuckin show and I can't wait to see you guys again. Long live rock n' roll!!!

Thanks to Hannah: That was a kick ass show! Omg it was sooo much fun! The energy, the songs... all great.

Thanks to David: Velvet Revolver's the shit! The Cincy concert kicked ass! The concert was amazing. The highlights were definitely Fall to Pieces and Slither but the whole concert kicked ass. Worth the money, worth the drive, I'd love to see em again. There is no one better than these motherfuckers! These guys were god's gift to the world. Keep kickin ass Velvet Revolver!

Thanks to Showstopper: Wow! This was a Rock N Roll show! The seating at this show was fantastic, no matter where you were, if felt like you were on top of the set. All the Velvet Revolver guys were working all sides of the set, interacting with the fans while they were kicking our ass with the best rock music!

The crowd went nuts as the first song, 'Sucker Train Blues' kicked in, Weiland starts lighting it up dancing around the set. The crowd was behind the band all night. Easily the biggest pops were 'Fall To Pieces', Sex Type Thing', 'It's so Easy' and 'Slither'.

I just want to thank Velvet Revolver for getting to see a real Rock N Roll show.

Thanks to Mike Smith: Velvet Revolver kicked butt in Cincy!! Me and my Son stood for hours to get right in front of the stage and it was well worth it. I think it was 15 songs they kicked out and believe me they were kicking! I've been to a lot of rock concerts but this was like an all star game! When the guys sat on front of the stage and sang "Used To Love Her" we were no more than 4 feet away from all of them except for Matt of course, but my son was in heaven. The band gave 110% and to see these legends at their best was all the fans could ask for. Rock on Velvet Revolver!!!!

Thanks to James Gordon: That was the best show I'd ever been to. I've never gotten completely into a show before and I was going crazy during this one. Front row center, dead in front the drum set. At the very begining, during Sucker Train Blues, I watched as Slash dropped a pick and claimed it as my own. I eventually traded it at the end of the show, to a kid who said it was his birthday. Being a drummer anyway, the drumstick I got for it is just as good as Slash's pick. I caught Scott Weilands towel during one of the songs, but the drunk guy behind me (you know who you are!) grabbed it and I left him have it. Scott apparently meant the towel to go to me, as he gave the man the dirtiest look I have ever seen. It's good to know that they take such an interest in the kids that go to these shows, Scott was probably under the impression that the guy took it from me(I'm only 15) which is kind of the case, but he did let go of it and I gave it back to him. After all, I knew I was getting the pick.

The band was full of energy, running all over the places and throwing stuff everywhere. The best part of the show, however, was probably when Scott and Slash sat right in front of me to do Used To Love Her. Just being so close to two legends was an awesome feeling.

In the end, I ended up with one drumstick (traded for), and part the lyrics for Mr Brownstone. I had Slash's pick and I also had another lyrics sheet, which I gave away to one of my friends that didn't get anything during the show. My friend ended up with one of Scott's towels, which he slept with that night and got pissed off at his mom when she threatened to wash it.

Thanks to Lindsay: Last night was amazing! On the way to the show, I realized this was my ninth time seeing Scott live. I have to say, this band was meant to be. All the band members had so much energy and they sounded great. A highlight for me was "Fall to Pieces" and "Sex Type Thing." My friends who went with me are musicians so they were in awe during "Set Me Free" when the band dragged the song out at the end and then went back to it (sorry, I'm sure there is a technical term that could have been used here). "Mr. Brownstone" was so good and "Slither" was the perfect closer. Definitely worth the money, worth the drive (from Athens) and worth seeing again.

Thanks to Daniel West: This is not as much a review of the concert as it is my personal experience there. My friend Alex and I arrived at US Bank Arena at 3:30 and sat down to drink Mountain Dew and wait until the doors opened at 7:00. They let us in at 6:30 and Alex and I were able to get to the front row where Slash would be right in front of us. I was feeling better than ever until my stomach started to churn.

The opening band came on at 8:00 and I felt like my stomach was going to explode so I kept like putting my head down on the railing and the security guard thought I was dying or something. After the opening band (who sucked) left I asked Alex to save my spot and I ran to the bathroom to vomit up six cans of mountain dew. I made it back in about 10 minutes and reclaimed my exact spot and I felt a bit better.

Then all of a sudden the lights went black and this force from inside me just came out and I was screaming and didn't know why, then in the middle of the dark I saw a small light. It was very faint at first, just this small little glow that got ever bigger, until a round orange glow was right in front of me. The glow was a cigarette hanging from God's mouth no more than 6 feet away. Then out of no where the lights exploded back on and began to flash as Slash broke into Sucker Train Blues.

As the song progressed Slash ran back and forth across the stage as I took picture after picture of him. Sucker Train Blues ended and Slash came back over to our end of the stage and Alex and I screamed at him that it was my birthday and he wasn't able to hear us, but it was a valiant effort. Another song began and ended as I jumped up and down unable to control my excitement, but this was not good for my stomach.

During the third song Duff came over and bended over and smiled directly at me as did Scott at one point. Two other people came over and bent over me both of them 25 year old girls. As they tried to usurp my position by squeezing in next to me, eventually however I was able to stand sideways so that they could be up there too. As the concert progressed Slash remained an impenetrable fortress of sexiness as much as I tried to get his attention, but after the fifth song I was screaming my lungs out and he looked down at me and smirked and I almost fainted.

After the first part of the show ended Matt was giving away his drumsticks and it happened. He bent down right next to me and I said,"it's my birthday!" so he smiled, nodded, and flipped one of his drumsticks over to me. It was without a doubt the best feeling in the world knowing that all of these Godlike musicians somewhat knew I existed and I thought my stomach was celebrating, but instead it was more eating away at itself. I started to bend over as Slash came back on stage for the encore and the security guard looked scared that I was going to throw up on him and I felt like I was going to, but I had to keep going. What was I supposed to do? Leave? Not as Slash was playing Used to Love her and I was in heaven.

After the fourth encore song I realized that Slash had become much more horizontal than he was at the beginning of the concert and then I realized that was because I was kneeling over. Everyone knows the #1 rule of being in the front row: never fall down. So I bent over to Alex and said,"I think I have to go" and started to walk away as Slash was playing Mr. Brownstone. I began to get dizzy as I tried to get out and it looked like a cheap movie that just had the camera spin around and around, but it was the first time I had ever been so sick in such a public place. All of a sudden I felt my knees give out and the rest is kind of hazy.

I remember feeling arms grab me and then big ones propped me up against them as I was walked out. I remember thinking to myself, "What the Hell? Why aren't I sitting down? I wanna sit down!" I kept trying to explain this to the security guard as I gripped my drum stick, but he wouldn't listen until he dropped me in a chair near the exit. The medic came over and began to examine me trying to ask if I was alright, but all I could say is, "They're... playing... Slither..." He ran off to try and get me some water as I handed my camera to Alex to take my last picture of the band and the medic came running back and handed me a glass of water and I was able to regain my thought process.

I handed my wallet to Alex and told him to go get me a t-shirt as I heard Scott thank the audience for coming out and people began to file out. Everyone came over and offered me money for my drum stick, but every time I suppressed my Jewish ideals until a guy walked by and told me he had gotten a pick and a lyrics sheet. I offered to trade the drumstick pending I could see the pick and confirm it was Slash's and it was. So with a lot of hesitation I gave up the drum stick and I am now the proud possessor of a pick that was used by Slash.

After about 10 minutes Alex returned with a t-shirt and we began to hike back to the car. We had found a place to park for only 2 dollars, but it was pretty far away. At the time it seemed like a good idea, but after the concert I was barely able to walk. I sat down on a street corner for about 5 minutes until I was able to let Alex prop me up and walk me to the car. Once I got home I stumbled through my apartment, dropped all of my stuff and passed out on the couch.

Thanks to Ryan Bussey: What a great show!! This is my fist time seeing all the old GNR members. I had been waiting for this day for at least 9 years. My seats were very very good. I took 27 pics with a little throw away camera. I think it's great that the group let's pictures be taken. I saw the new GNR when they were on tour and got a camera inside but during Patience of all songs it got taken away. Anyway.. I had an awsome time it was great seeng my heros in person.

Thanks to NINO: This is the must see concert of the year. It is everything you would expect and more...just raw, hardcore, rock n' f#ckin roll. Big Machine, It's So Easy, Sex Type Thing, Set Me Free back to back...brought the house down! Growing up a guitarist and follower of Slash, his acoustic intro on Used to Love Her was unbelievable. The way Scott moved and sang made everybody in that place want to be a rock and roll star. I hope this is just a taste of what is to come from these guys. I have to give props to their opening act The Datsuns...these guys can flat out play. If you haven't heard them yet you need to.

Thanks to Bo Bodnar: Rock N' Roll is back...holy shit, that was the most amazing experience ever. The energy was out of control, best part is I was front row dead center, almost the whole show Scott was right in front of me, when Sucker Train Blues started Duff was 2 feet away from me, standin tall like a true rock god, Scott came out look like the fuckin almighty one, it was just insane. Oh man, it was out of control last night, at the beginning of one of the songs threw his towel out into the crowd, and guess who fucking caught it, me. Dude I slept with that thing last night. It smells like shit, but I love that fucking smell man, fucking Scott Weiland's smell. Then there was the encore, Scott came out threw another towel into the crowd and my friend and this guy were fighting over it and Scott gave that guy the dirtiest look, like he bettter give that towel to this little kid and when the guy grabbed it from him I thought Scott was gonna jump into the crowd and kick his ass, great times. Then Slash came out, put on his top hat, then sat down right in front of me on the stage, he started bustin out like a country solo or something, then Scott sat down, and once both of them were smoking, they ripped into "Used To Love Her", I was so close, that I secondhand smoked off of Scott and Slash, best fuckin nicotine in the world. They left the stage twice, but people kept yelling for more encores, oh and they owned "No more, No more". Rock N' Fuckin Roll

Thanks to Chas Hartman: Velvet Revolver put on one hell of a 90-minute rock show last night in Cincy, complete with two encores and a special performance of "Mr. Brownstone." Seated in the second row up from the floor on the left side of the stage, I had a great view of all the action. The band seemed in great spirits and Duff came to my side of the stage several times.

All the Contraband songs came off without a hitch ("Superhuman" would be a great pick for the band's next single!) and the GNR/STP songs were just icing on the cake. Right before the band launched into "Mr. Brownstone," Matt played a fast drum beat similar to the " You Could Be Mine" intro. I would have settled for either song, but "Brownstone" kicked ass. You could tell it was there first time playing it live.

I'd easily go see these guys again! Maybe they'll add "You Got No Right" into their setlist next year. I'll never forget Slash asking, "How 'bout those Bengals?"

Thanks to Patrick Doran: I had high expectations and I was not letdown. Velvet Revolver put on a hell of a show. These guys belong together. Scott Weiland is the premier frontman of rock today. I have never seen so much energy exerted from one man. Dave also a ton of energy, especially during "Sex Type Thing". The ex-Gunners were all superb, esp. Duff & Matt.

They played the same set as the night before. My personal favorites were "Do It for the Kids", "Headspace", "Fall to Pieces" and "Slither". "Crackerman" & "It's So Easy" were also excellent. I consider myself very lucky to have had the chance to go see Velvet Revolver. If you get the chance, go. You won't regret it.
