Reviews (31) [ send in your own review/pictures of the Atlanta show ]

Thanks to John: Velvet Revolver kicked balls at the Mistle Toe Jam. Slash rocked the guitar like he did in the 80s. Scott is a damn good singer. Can't wait to see Velvet Revolver on the Ozzfest in Nashville.Whaoo! Aw yeah! Hell yeah! Beeach!!!

Thanks to Jason: The show was great. I had seen STP many times and they are still my favorite band. But the band really puts on a great show and plays alot of the old stuff. It was great to see a real rock n roll band for once. All of the music that is out there today is so cheesy.

Thanks to Kellyn: I drove all the way from Rock Hill, SC to see Velvet Revolver. I love the band... don't get me wrong the other bands were great but it was just like one big build up to Velvet Revolver coming on to the stage. I love guys keep kickin ass! Much love

Thanks to Amber: It was the best rock Concert I have ever seen. Scott Weiland was all over the place. He was just so energetic and full of spirit and vinegar. He was insane and gorgeous. His voice never sounded better. Slash, Duff, Dave and Matt were so tight. They didn't miss a beat.

I thought it was awesome of them just have a big red sign behind them that said simply, "Velvet Revolver". It was so Rock n' Roll. I've always wanted to see Slash & Duff & Matt live and I always wanted to see STP live so seeing them up on stage together was awe inspriring. They are living legends. I almost died when they did "Sex Type Thing" and "Mr. Brownstone" & "It's So Easy." I think I lost my voice that night screaming so loud.

Velvet Revolver's debut album is not only the best true Rock n' Roll album to come out in at least 10 years but seeing them live, Velvet Revolver is truely the best Rock band to come out. Scott Weiland has the best voice in Rock n' Roll and Slash is the best guitarist of our generation. Velvet Revolver are truly living legends. Mark my words after seeing them live, they will be around forty years from now and they will be our generations Rolling Stones. I'm hooked. I'm a true blue Velvet Revolver fan forever. I have never had this much enthusiasm for a band except for Nirvana and the Rolling Stones. I think Mick Jagger has some stiff competition when it comes to his title as "World's Best Front Man." Scott Weiland will be taking over that title. By the way Duff looked the best he has in years and he was amazing and Dave was incredible too. Keep making the great music guys. Velvet Revolver is the best band in the world, don't break up after two or three albums and break our hearts. Love You.

Thanks to Shannon: I had a great time at the concert and they really know how to rock. I went to the concert with my brother and my friends and my friends father. I really loved Sucker Train Blues, Fall To Pieces and Slither and they put on one hell of a performance I and will be going to their concert again when they come back to Atlanta, Ga. Thanks guys for coming to Atlanta.

Thanks to Amanda: This was fucking great, Scott was such a performer!!! I couls not keep my eyes off him. And to say this was one of my first sober shows ever and loved it. I took my 15 year old brother who almost fell out when they came back on with Mr. Brownstone!!! Awesome show Velvet Revolver I glad there are some rockers still around. Scott I'm In love with your performance. Keep rocker and thanks for coming back . I can't just stop without saying Slash you are the man. Thanks for a great show VFR. See ya next time

Thanks to Scott: All I can say is wow! I have been following Velvet Revolver since day one of hearing about the band coming together and all that time looking forward to their first trip to Atlanta. I grew up a huge GN'R & STP fan, so seeing these legends live was something I had been looking forward to for a long time and I was not disappointed! The crowd was really into the show and Scott had everybody in the palm of his hand, he was really into the show along with the rest of the band! Is Slash 40 or 20, cause I couldn't tell the way he was jumping around the stage! In short, a fantastic show and I can't wait for them to come back to the ATL! Velvet Revolver kicks ass!

Thanks to Mike Moore: Just got back from Velvet Revolver at the Gwinett Civic Center. It was straight up one of the best shows I have been to in a looong time. They are so much better live than on the album and I love the album. Slash was awesome!!! They played most of the stuff from Contraband and also played some GN&R and STP.

G&R: Mr. Brownstone, It's so easy
STP: Crackerman (and it fucking ruled) and Sex Type Thing (also amazing) I am a huge Core fan.

All in all a kick ass concert. The only down side is the opening acts were absolutely awful. And it almost ruin the evening have to sit through such awful fucking shit. But once Velvet Revolver came out it was totally worth it. I wonder if Velvet Revolver really liked who they played with or if they had any say in who they play with. Just my opinion, but the openers were terrible.

Thanks to Grace: The concert rocked! I'm an Atlanta girl and I have to say how much I appreciated that you said that Atlanta women are the most fucking beautiful women in the country! Hell yeah! I can't wait till Velvet Revolver comes back to town!! It was the best night of my life even though I don't remember a lot of it!!!

Thanks to Karon Westmoreland: Just waiting for the show to start my heart was pounding out of my chest....thinking about seeing all the rock legends about to appear in front of me. I think my heart did literally jump right out of my chest and run up on stage more than once that night after the music started. I cannot think of a better way to spend an evening than at the best fucking concert I have ever witnessed in my life. My life has been full of music and shows so I think the bar has now been set at an unatainable new level for shows to follow. The music was unbelievable, the showmanship delicious and my proximity to the new best band ever was divine. Nothing like a bunch of beautiful, skinny, shirtless, sweaty, tatooed, amazing musicians to make a girls day. My sweetie had to keep from passing out from all the madness and realism of what I was witnessing. You guys rocked me to my very soul...I still can't get the stupid "cloud nine" look off my face. Scott is well beautiful and the best frontman to ever live...then there is the eye candy factor of Duff and Slash with their graceful speaker jumps and effortless dashing across the stage. Best music ever, best show ever, best eye-popper ever and best goofy look to stay on my face for life!!!!

Thanks to Mike Halpin: I saw Velvet Revolver in Tenn about a month or so ago. Due to Scott's throat problems the show was cut short. When I saw them in ATL they reedemed themselves. They were amazing.. best show ever. I'm so glad Axl is gone. After being a fan of a band who's lead singer didn't care and going to Scott Weiland who is a ten time better performer than Axl, I'm satisfied. Big Machine was awesome live..

Thanks to Dickson Sanders: First off I would like to say that I was very excited to see Velvet Revolver live in Atlanta. I am a huge STP fan and have been for years and years. The sound people were bad but that was not the band's fault. Other than that I loved the set list of songs and I sang along with all of the songs. I felt like their biggest fan because I was going crazy every song along with a friend that I met their. Hey John you Rock man!!!! I was so glad to see Scott live and to hear him sing two STP songs. During the STP songs I was the most excited! I am proud to say that I saw Velvet Revolver live and I look forward to seeing them again. Velvet Revolver, STP forever!!!!! Peace, Flashy Mack...

Thanks to Jeff: Greatest show I have ever seen and probably the best I will ever see.

One problem, now every concert isn't even gonna seem half as good as Velvet Revolver's.

Still thanks guys, you played awesome. One of my dreams come true to see Duff and Slash.

Velvet Revolver owns you and your mom

Thanks to Miguel Cruz: I was at the show with my friend and we had a blast. Velvet Revolver kick ass like no other, the other bands were ok too, but when Velvet Revolver came out everybody got up and started screaming. The show was fucking amazing.

Thanks to Izzy420: Man I've waited my whole fuckin life to see GnR. Last night I seen Velvet Revolver!!! Holy shit this was by far the best gig I've ever seen. The sound was amazing. Scott was note for note perfect and very entertaining. But to see Slash & Duff Live. I'm at loss for words. This is a show you can't Miss! GnR fans or STP fans this was the best show ever~!

Thanks to The Russian Assassin: Very good show!!! Looked and felt like a rock show!!!

Show was very late starting.... 9:45PM was what was told... they did not hit the stage til 10:20. A late setlist change took place too. At about 10:15, roadies came out with tape & new setlists, tore up the old ones already in place & laid the new ones down. They threw the old ones all wadded up into the crowd. No idea what the changes could have been... probably chopped a couple or 3 songs out.

Crowd was red hot!!! This town has always been good to STP and GNR has not played Atlanta since Dec. of 1987 (long story, Axl got busted, etc), so this town was starved for GNR (so to speak). There was a long runway that emmanated from the front of the stage.....the first time Scott, Duff & Slash headed out onto the ramp got a huge pop! At the end of Fall To Pieceswhen they all strolled out together, the crowd went bananna, as well.

They probably waited too long to do any GNR songs, but lots of the Velvet Revolver stuff got great reactions... I noticed lots of folks singing along, obviously knowing the words & songs.

Oh yeah, and Slash's top hat at the very end for Slither got a big pop as well.

The band was incredibly tight! All members are consumate showmen.... How Dave, Duff, Slash & Scott don't keep bumping into each other is amazing to me.

Again, great show! Not the best I have ever seen, but they were still killer. I am sure when the 2nd LP comes out, all the cover songs will be dropped.

Thanks to MissSlash: A night filled with both pleasure and pain.

The pain: my feet, my back, my ears (wishing Jimmy Eat World would "take my pain away" as their song goes by getting the hell off the stage), my nerves (from the stupid bitch behind me who wouldn't shut the hell up), my patience (from the creepy old security dude that kept hitting on me) and finally my heart (when Velvet Revolver left the stage crying or very sad ).

The pleasure: The whole damn Velvet Revolver performance!!! They kicked so much ass! Oh my god it was so amazing!

So I'll break it down:

I get there about 1 hour early and end up on the very first row!! I was a little further to the right than I wanted to be but the guys made up for it by coming and standing right in front of me. First Keane comes on. I was actually impressed. It's not really my thing, but the dude can sing. Then The Music. I've never heard them before. They are kind of trippy and the lead singer sounds like Perry Farrell. They were pretty cool, but the longer they were on the more their songs sounded alike. Next was Jimmy Eat World and there are no words for the dislike I have for them. The amazing thing to me is that so many people there got into them. The crowd, not me, loved them. Then Muse came on and they were pretty damn awesome. So damn awesome in fact that Duff, Matt and Dave all came out to watch them. I look over to my right and who do I see approaching? Duff Makagan in the flesh. He walks right in front of me and watches right in front of the stage. A bunch of people are screaming "Duff". On his way back out he signs an autograph and shakes a few hands (including mine! I touched Duff. Cool). Then I look over and see Dave watching from the side and then Matt comes out.

Finally it is time for the main event. They take an hour to come on, but when they do it is so fucking awesome. I was a Velvet Revolver virgin and I must say I am changed forever! Scott is like an animal...all over the stage making those crazy eyes at everyone. Poor Slash fell when he tried to jump to the amps right in front of me, but he got back up and kept playing like a pro (whenever he did that later in the show he landed perfectly). Slash nailed every song perfectly and looked very good doing it. Dave has all sorts of wild moves on the stage (he was very impressive). I couldn't really see Matt. Duff was awesome as usual, making those rockstar faces. I'm glad someone else put up a set list because I can't remember. One thing is for sure, Slither was the best song of the night. It sounds so amazing live.

All in all this show rocked. Velvet Revolver rocks. Slash is a guitar god! Loved it!

Great show!

Thanks to Kellyn Sneed: Hey I just got home from your concert last night! I live in South Carolina but I talked my brother into going to the 99X Mistle Toe Jam with me in Georgia! Yall were kick ass! Yall are my favorite band and The Mistle Toe Jam was my first real concert and yall set a very high standard for any other concerts that I will ever go to! Yall were awesome and I would love to see you in concert again when yall go on a new tour just try to come a little closer to Rock Hill! That drived sucked so bad but it was so worth it! Yall keep kickin' ass and sing from your heart!

Thanks to Melinda: Maybe I'm way off base here, but did anyone else feel like Velvet Revolver's showing was less than average? Everything from going on stage late to the long delays between songs, I left the concert feeling very disappointed. It wasn't so much Slash and the gang as Scott Weiland. His voice did not sound good and it seemed like they may have even been running a voice track over his voice to help enhance it. Surely they wouldn't do that, right? I saw Scott Weiland a few year's ago when he was touring with STP and remember his performance being way better.

I was just really psyched to see Guns-n-Roses meets STP and was expecting a more polished, cohesive performance. I love Velvet Revolver's music and was hoping to leave the show feeling the way I felt when I left a Metallica show a few weeks ago - elated! Alas, no elation to be had last night. I still love their music though.

Thanks to Ryan: Holy crap. That was the most amazing show I've ever seen. Velvet Revolver is a gift from God to the rock world and I sure as hell can't wait for them to come back again. Sex Type Thing was completely unexpected and riveting to say the least. Long live Velvet fucking Revolver!

Thanks to Melody Man: Drove 4 hours to see a phenomenon that has made my life complete. I can't rest easier now knowing that I've personally seen the rock gods.

Thanks to 44 year old rocker: All the bands were great especially Muse and Velvet Revolver. My 21 year old daughter and I loved it except for the idiots that were out of control violently shoving people and acted like total asses. The so called mosh pits were a real pain for the rest of us that wanted to enjoy the music and for those innocent bystanders that were forced to leave their up front spot to retreat to safer territory.

Thanks to Two Orlando Rock Fans: It was amazing how much energy the entire band had all night...especially Scott Weiland. The crowd's response to Big Machine was electrifying. That will no doubt be a big hit once it hits the airwaves.

Can't wait to see them at the Hard Rock!!

Thanks to Eric: Hello my fellow rockers.....

This is my first time doing a review, so cut me some slack.

Well me and my friends skipped all the other bands because we knew they were going to suck...at 9:30 - we all run down to the floor and work our way up to the stage. We got really good spots, 10 feet or so from the extended walkway from the main stage. We began the wait which was killer. It was a 45 minute wait, Scott showed up late (this we found out from our friend who personally knows Weiland). After the 45 minute wait, we heard the announcer...blah blah blah "From Hollywood! Velvet Revolver!" A few seconds later, I heard Duff's bass play the lines of "Sucker Train Blues". The crowd starts going nuts from there on. The whole band are rock gods, they were the meaning of rock n' roll. Everything sounded good. The crowd was singing right along the fast paced athem of Velvet Revolver. After the ending of the song. Scott says, "it's been a long fucking time Atlanta." Then straing into "Do it for the Kids" what an amazing song. After that, Headspace was next - and the crowd went nuts, the moshpits broke out everywhere, and the crowd was going bloody nuts! I was jumping up and down, headbanging, I took off my shirt and kept on my formal vest cause it was beginning to get hot and my shirt was soaked with sweat/spilled beer. Believe me, the crowd had no headspace, it was pretty fucking packed. Next the began to play "Superhuman". This song was awesome. The most memorable part about the song is how the whole arena sang the chorus! "Cocaine, alchol, lady-lay-withdrawal!" It was truly amazing. Next came Crackerman, this song was cool, I have never heard it before and it was an awesome song, kind of sucked that I didn't know the lyrics, but it was alright, cause the song kicked ass and that made everything dandy. Next came Illegal I. This song was awesome, especially becuase of the extensions added to the songs. I crowd surfed during this song, I went all the way up to the stage. I got pulled down by a security guard and he grabbed the back of my pants(which was weird considering I wasn't wearing any underwear). I was told if I do it again I would be kicked out which sucked because come on, crowd surfing isn't that bad. They should focus more on the people smoking cigarrettes with crystal meth in them rather than me crowd surfing, having a good time and trying to get a great view of the band. But as I was running back to get back into the crowd, Duff was playing right above me, I was seriously like 3 feet away from him, I would of stayed but I had a security guard right on my ass. Anyway, I push my way through the crowd and rocked out to the rest of "Illegal I". Next, the full throttle rock show took a breather with the slow paced- heart felted song, "Fall to Peices". I swayed with the crowd, and held up a lighter, but it burned my finger, so I gave it to my friend. It was an amazing song and it was really awesome becuase you were singing the song with thousands of your best friends. After that song, next was Big Machine and the mayhem broke back out. It was so awesome, I was banging my head and jumping up and down singing the song even though my jugular felt like it was going to burst. After that, the busted out the two back to back duo covers. "It's so Easy" was so awesome, I was really looking forward to this song, cause it's one of my all-time favorites from GNR and I never got the chance to see them cause I was way too young when they were around with Slash, Duff, Izzy, and Adam and of course Axl. I sang the song loud just like the rest of the crowd, the moshing was relentless. The song ended and I was in heaven, to say the least. Next came "Sex Type Thing", one of my favorites from STP. This was awesome even though I hardly know the lyrics. But the extended ending was amazing and was really well done. Next came "Set me Free", which was awesome. I believe they did an extension of the song after the guitar solo, which was awesome. This song kicked ass. I believe after this, there was 5 minute intermission. The crowd began chanting "Velvet Revolver" trying to stay in sync with the flashing stage sign that hung behind and over the drum kit. After that, Matt came out and began playing the drums to "Mr. Brownstone". This is one of the other songs I was really looking forward to and it was awesome. I sang my heart out on this one. Slash ripped it up, Scott does this cover really well, his voice is amazing in it. Dave is awesome, he was shredding his axe up. The crowd was going insane and it was really hectic in the arena, but it was all fun and the song was amazing. Then came the finale. "Slither". Duff and Matt began playing the opening lines to the song. Dave and Slash began doing the crazy feedbacks. Then the song took off like a rocket to the moon, the crowd was going absolutely nuts. Everybody sang along. I believe the had an extension right after Slash's solo. Then as Scott began singing the last verse of the song, white confetti shot out everywhere as if it was snowing, I was in total nirvana. I looked up the the stage and Scott was down right at the crowd, singing his heart out, I saw his sweat drip off his body and everything. Then the song ended and the the crowed roared in amazement. The show was spectacular, I have never seen such a concert in my whole life. I am really looking forward to seeing them again, hopefully sometime soon. If any of you haven't had the privalage to seem Velvet Revolver live, you need to, because you're missing out, beucase these days, there is nothing that is truer to Rock N' Roll than Velvet Revolver. Rock on!

Thanks to jordan: The baddest fucking shit ever. It's So Easy was my favorite song. Man those dudes can fuckin wail. This was the best thing since sliced pickles. The Gwinnet Arena is like a cross between a giant roller skating rink and a movie theater but it was still cool. Slash is my daddy. Scott Weiland sessioned out. Duff's fuckin bad. I was about 5 feet from the stage. Those guys were larger than life. I stayed extra crunk the whole next day after work. I wish I had more beer to drink but it didn't even Matter.

Thanks to Stephanie: It was without a doubt the best concert I have ever been to!!! They were awesome and my boyfriend really appreciated me buying him tickets for Christmas. I hope Velvet Revolver comes back to the ATL soon--- meanwhile, I will be listening to their CDs.

Thanks to Eugene S. Sanders: I was very much looking forward to this show after reading the reviews from previous shows, especially after seeing Velvet Revolver on VH1 Inside Out. The guys were definetely worth the wait. To hear them open to STB got me so pumped up and the adreniline never slowed. Matt rocked and Dave was all over the place. Duff and Slash were thier usual cool selves just ripping it up. Scott's slithering moves had my girl soaking wet by the middle of STB. He is by far one of the best frontmen ever. Sex Type Thing got the biggest response, but what else would you expect from the most intense sexual STP song there is. Muse went on right before Velvet Revolver and I was impressed. If you ever get the chance to see them, don't pass it up. Velvet Revolver's entire set was very intense and full of energy. Can't wait until they come back around. And by the way, my girl being soaking wet during the show paid off on the ride home. Thanks Scott, I owe you one.

Thanks to Paul Broome: The best shows I have ever seen in my life! Scott is the best rock frontman of the time.

Thanks to Brian: The show was fucking awsome. Slash, Duff, Matt and Scott rule the rock world!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to John Berberian: Absolutely amazing. The band seemed like they were playing together for years. Scott, Dave, Slash and Duff are a savior to the rock and roll generation. Long live Velvet Revolver.
