Reviews (43) [ send in your own review/pictures of the Birmingham show ]

Thanks to James Grosvenor: Hi Velvet Revolver your tour was absolutely amazing. A couple of months ago I went to see David Bowie that was good but yours was better. When I went I was in a mosh pit, I have never been in one and I was really scared (o and their was two gays in front of me). Despite all of that you was amazing can't wait until you go on tour again. Keep up the good work and best wishes for Christmas and have a happy New Year.

Thanks to Stuey C: Finally got to see the awesome Velvet Revolver!! And they didn't dissapoint me with their performance! It was absolutelly mesmerising! All of them were so accurate and the extended version of Slither sent a shiver right down the centre of my spine!! They rock!!! Definatelly seeing them again when they come to Birmingham, UK!!!!

Thanks to Slash's pick: Brill, never been to a gig before, but still the best ever, I missed G N R. I'm not gonna miss Velvet Revolver, next Birmingham gig (or Shrewsbury, if they know where that is), I'll be there.

Thanks to Anonymous: First of all I would like to say that Velvet Revolver are the best band on the planet. After all the waiting around for the show Velvet Revolver came to the stage at 9:30. The lights went out and the atmosphere was amazing. They burst through Sucker Train Blues and Do it for The Kids. The highlight of the night was when Slash came on stage with his double necked guitar and played You Got Know Right. I love Velvet Revolver and I really hope they come back to Birmingham. It was the best night of my life.

Thanks to Craig Bennett: Velvet Revolver were wicked. I am a huge G.N.R fan and have been for ages Slash was amazing and so was Scott all the songs they played were brilliant and I can't wait until they come back to the UK.

Thanks to Slash Jr: Amazing drums, guitar and bass. Scott started off weak but as the show went on he got better.

Thanks to John Hawley: Velvet Revlover were amazing, I have been a huge fan of Guns N Roses for ages and never dreamt I would ever get to see Slash, Duff and Matt live ever. The Guns N Roses songs they played were brilliant and the finale, Slither was great.

Thanks to Sarah Culbert: Velvet Revolver rock!!! That was the best concert I have ever been too. It was sooo good. Scott Weiland sang Guns N'Roses song better than Axl ever did. It was fab. Thank- you so much for coming to England and I hope to see you guys very soon.

Thanks to Sal: Velvet Revolver delivered the goods from the start of the gig blowing us away with Sucker Train Blues. Scott's energy seemed endless and the band looked like they were enjoying it as much as we were.

Finally a band are back on the scene showing everyone what rock n roll is supposed to look and sound like (watch and learn Datsuns).

Thanks to Chris: Went to the NIA on the 18th and it kicked ass amazing show and amazing night and to top it all off I caught one of Dave Kushner's plecs.

Thanks to David Thomas: Absolutely amazing show... Scott was a great front/showman and the band were awesome. Great set list, my favorite song being the 'Sex Type Thing' cover. Scott used the loudspeaker a bit too much though. I was standing right at the front.... awesome! They also played the riff from Black Sabbath's 'Iron Man' (I think during the wind down at the end of 'Slither') which was a great touch as was the 'You Could be Mine' intro in the drum solo. Slash's voicebox solo (or whatever you call that machine)was also amazing. Please come back soon!

Thanks to Joe Skelham: It was fucking quality! Best live performance I have ever seen! Velvet Revolver fucking Rock!

Thanks to Joe Skelham: It was fucking quality! Best live performance I have ever seen! Velvet Revolver fucking Rock!

Thanks to Ben: Oh my god!! This was god like!!!! To see Velvet Revolver the first time was good, but fuck this blew me away. I got blessed by Slash when he spat on the floor he got me it was the best time of my life and to also shake Duff's hand it was awesome!!!

Thanks to Sam pickup: I have been a fan of GNR since I was about 4 (now 18) and that gig has made my life! I pulled a muscle in my stomach at the begginin cuz I rocked so hard, cuz of that I couldn't jump round for the latter songs but I don't care cuz Velvet Revolver rocked!!!!! Loved the GNR covers. They made my nite as I couldn't see GNR when they rocked! (also annoy Axl a bit, but it show to which band all the class went!) Can't wait for their new material cuz that nite rocked so much! Velvet Revolver are the best live rock band, can't wait to see em again!!!!

Thanks to James Harding: I shan't submit a lengthy review as I'm sure the fact that it was mindblowing is obvious. But something that I don't believe has been mentioned is the 15 second tribute to Birmingham, that is, the great Black Sabbath's Iron Man (Sorum was showing off his Sabbath trousers to the crowd during the acoustic section), played just before the final cymbal crash of the night. It seemed impromptu, as Slash had to talk to Duff beforehand, who quickly relayed the message to Matt and Dave. A great moment that I'm sure deserves recognition, as it made the show that little bit special.

Thanks to Gaz: This gig was amazing Velvet Revolver are by far the best rock band around. Do It For The Kids was amazing the pit was best for Mr Brownstone. Used To Love Her was amazing and being right in front of Slash was quality Scott was as usual amazing and seeing Duff and Slash play together again was fantastic. Velvet Revolverr are amazing.

p.s They did a jam of Iron Man by Black Sabbath after Slither

Thanks to Jan: Well - we can go one better! We met Slash after the show (after having pics taken with Matt and autographs off Scott) and had chat with him, our pics taken with him, he spoke to my son on my mobile, we got a kiss, he signed my daughter's t-shirt, we got his autograph!! Amazing and we still can't believe it. What a legend that man is - and so so nice. The show was fabulous - what was with the people in seats not standing up???!! We were in the front row and we did. We saw Velvet Revolver in Manchester on Sunday and then again in Birmingham - Slash asked me which I preferred but obviously couldn't choose and told him both were amazing. Just wish I was a millionaire and could follow them on to London, Japan, NZ, Australia, etc. etc. Hope they go on and on. And can't wait to see them again.

Thanks to Andy J: Fucking Awesome!! Scott had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. Duff was a legend. Slash was god. Matt was one crazy hell mother fucker Dave was damn energetic, but I didn't see alot of him.

My ears are still ringing and I'm bruised from being right in the pit. Rock and fucking roll! I don't want mediocraty in my life either!

Thanks to Julie Haves: The trip into Birmingham and finding the venue was a nightmare but was it worth it? Hell, yeah! Awesome show, awesome performance ...everything combined to make one hell of a night (although the alarm for work at 6am the next morning wasn't much fun!). Being somewhat 'vertically-challenged' seeing anything at all wasn't going to be easy but they played the stage so well that even I got a great view at some points.. Scott lept around like a gazelle on heat! Great audio balance between music and vocals too. Pity the later UK dates were sold out.....I want more!!!!!

Thanks to Laura : Amazing gig! The Datusuns were better than what I thought, Mf From Hell was great!! Then Velvet Revovler came on! Fall To Pieces was classic! Slash totally rocked throughout the whole show!! Scott's voice was awesome! These guys definatly know how to put on a show!! You Got No Right was brilliant! All the songs were wicked and it could not have been done any better! Thanks for one of the greatest nights of my life!! xXxXx

Thanks to Dom Toner: Wow!!! Rock has truly come back. All the band have gelled amazingly. Matt's drum solo was out of this world. Vive la rock!!!

Thanks to Tom Paine: To be honest I did just go to see Slash and Duff but I went away wanting to see the whole band again and again. I got there pretty late so I thought I wasn't going to get a good view, I was wrong slap bang at the front in the middle with Duff and Scott right in front of me.

When I saw some of the playlists for past shows I was dissapointed You Got No Right wasn't on there so I was really glad when they played it and I loved their version of It's So Easy and Used To Love Her. Another good thing is that I was standing next to a really fit girl so if your out there reading this I was the one joining in your little Britain impressions and discretly getting in front of you so try and get in touch. ;) All in all the best gig I've been too 1 downfall 10 pounds for a programme!!!

Post what you think at http://drpaine.proboards28.com

Thanks to James the spark: Just a few works almost 24 hours after my ears are still ringing. I can't belive how loud they were, they were just brilliant after many years of waiting to see Slash live it happened. Just can't put into words how simply brilliant they all were. Memories I will never forget.

Thanks to Rhian: Fan-fuckin-tastic! Even better than the show I saw in the summer at Hammersmith (I thought that would be impossible!). Great set list and to my absolute delight they played You Got No Right, my fave! As usual, I nearly died (fainted at the last one, oops!) and so I missed Mr Brownstone which I was really annoyed about but I recovered in time for Slither!

Slash and Scott were really cool, like saying that we brought back rock and roll and looked like they were enjoying themselves! And as usual, Duff was the hottest guy alive! Dave and Matt were also fab! Shame all my pictures came out shit! :(

Thanks to Andy Strong: Oh my god!!!

Best show I've ever seen! Best night of my life! An amazing set from an amazing band! 2 words - Fuck Mediocrity!

Thanks to Katie Grimason: They were brilliant. Matt was brilliant on the drums. I liked how Scott moved about and the cover of Gn'r and STP were cool as well. If they come again I am definatly going!!!

Thanks to Rockin' Rich: Ohh my god!! I've followed the careers of GN'R, Snakepit and now Velvet Revolver, and waited years to see the man behind it all... boy was it worth it! They played 3 GN'R covers - It's So Easy, Mr Brownstone and Used To Love Her also, with a great acoustic intro by Slash, and all songs from Contraband bar Loving The Alien (which is a shame as it's my fave) and Bodies.

songs = incredible, atmos = incredible, catching Duff's pick = incredible :D

Best live act around.

Thanks to Waz: Fucking amazing show, the guys were in great form, Scott was an amazing frontman, interacting with crowd; he was full of energy. Slash is a legend, the guy was just so cool, he wore his tophat for the encores and played an acoustic build up to 'Used To Love Her'. The main highlight for me was 'You Got No Right' it was pure class. If you haven't already I suggest you catch em live, they're rock n' roll at its best!

Thanks to Tom Draper: Totally amazing gig, missed the Datsuns because I was busy catching up with the ever-illustrious perils of snood. Velvet Revolver did the same set they've done the last few nights, with a little snippet of "Iron Man" right at the end. Better setlist than the September tour, no complaints whatsoever. Velvet Revolver are the best band in the world :-D

Thanks to Matt: Wow! what a show! Absoloutely amazing! It was surreal to see Slash in the same room as me though! What a guy! Shame about The Datsuns though!

Thanks to Paul Spencer: Wow what a show!!!!!!! First off The Datsuns were on fire great band really tight - the rhythm guitarist was having sound troubles though. Right then now to the main event Velvet Revolver came on to Suckertrain Blues which sent everyone mad as hell!!!!! Highlight of the night was Dirty Little Thing which was dedicated to the one and only slut Paris Hilton and Scott said it's the new single too!

The sound was great, very loud and the guys were on fire-Matt also gave me his drumstick how cool!!!!!!!!

After the gig me and my buddy Andrew that I met earlier waited around for the band - noone else was there coz they all got moved on!

We saw Duff who posed for a picture with me but couldn't stay because he had to leave next was Dave but he got interrupted so we waited and waited then came Scott!!!! He was great posed for a picture which turned out great and when he came out he left the stagedoor on the latch - So.....we snook in yes that's right walked straight in there and to our amazement Slash was right there he signed our stuff and chatted and was a true pro in every sense of the word. Totally made my night, great performance great people thanks guys you rock and made my night.

Thanks to Azhar: I had to say that last night was the best night of my life because Velvet Revolver just tore the place apart!! Scott is just a showman and a half, Duff looked great playing the bass, Matt was wicked on the drums, Dave was running like a madman and of course Slash is just a god!! After all these years he still on the top of his game!! Cheers Velvet Revolver, can't wait for the new album.

Thanks to Dean: This gig was the best gig that I have been to it was making my ears ring it was brilliant.

Thanks to Mark: After the band finally came on stage they put on an amazing show and from the beginning to the end the audience couldn't get enough.

Thanks to James Cartwright: One Word...awesome!!

Thanks to Rob: These guys know how to rock N fucking roll, if you haven't been to one of there shows yet your missin out big time. They were making the crowd go crazy. They played an amazing set and they even slipped in one or two G'N'R classics. The atmosphere in that place was incredible. Rock n roll is coming back with Velvet Revolver leading the way.

Thanks to fieldsy: Fantastic show!!! This band is growing all the time and was as good (if not better) than when I saw them in Manchester in September.

The setlist was pretty much the same as other shows. Mr. Brownstone got a massive reaction, though the original stuff was recieved very well too. The gig was in fact a pretty much rerun of the last tour, though on a grander scale.

Scott was on good form though he did go on about something that was just mad. Maybe that revolution speech? Slash was amazing and seemed to get a massive roar everytime he played, smiled, picked his nose etc. Duff was cool as was Dave.

Thanks to Nathan: One great gig with a hell of a lot of entertainment. The only problem with it was that the gain on the amps were too high, drowning out Slash's excellent solo's. Wish a few more in the seating were like me and stood up, but hey didn't affect the show. Slash is god!!

Thanks to James Young: Scott was doing so much camping I thought I was at a boy scout convension. The show was great though. Especially for those of us who had tickets for G'N'R at Wembley but couldn't go. Dave looks very comfortable and everyone gave it 100% I'm sure the new material will make the shows even better. But you gotta leave the Guns tracks in (nice to hear some STP too). Long live rock n'f'n' roll. Hats off to Velvet Revolver.

Thanks to Mary: Well...let's be honest...if Velvet Revolver had come onstage yesterday, sung Baa Baa Black Sheep and gone home, I'd probably still say it was amazing. Words don't describe how amazing these guys are as performers! I couldn't believe it actually - I got there at about 7, maybe a bit after and I still managed to get pretty near the front.

I can't completely remember what they played. Dirty Little Thing (Scott: "This is a song about a girl called Paris Hilton"). They also played a Stone Temple Pilots song, but I don't know any STP songs well, so I didn't know which one it was (sorry!).

Thanks to Big Daz: Fucking awesome. Side splittin, ball breaking, shit kickin, ears bleedin fuckin awesome.

Thanks to Jon Dawson: I saw Velvet Revolver last year at Manchester and thought that was awesome, then tonight..fucking wow! They opened as per usual with an exceptional rendition of Suckertrain Blues and followed it on with Do It For The Kids which again was fantastic. Next up was Headspace which was ok except Scott's vocals weren't quite loud enough (that damn sound guy again!) and then, came your favourite and mine, Superhuman which absolutely blew me away! I can't remember the order for most of the gig but they did Dirty Little Thing (which Scott said was just released as a single???). Slash also did an absolutely do-diddlin' little Spanish guitar solo which was propa bo, ah tel thee! Anyhow, a fantastic gig definately one of the best I've been to in a long while and I hope they keep up the good work and keep on rockin and rollin.
