Reviews (17) [ send in your own review/pictures of the Brisbane show ]

Thanks to Teena Griffin: I thought it was really good. I loved how Slash played his guitar behind his head. I had so much fun, it was really rocking. I was in the seats but I still stood up rocked around. I though the mosh pit wasn't that rockin but it wasn't Velvet's fault. I had so much fun, thanx to my brother, Brad, who bought me the ticket. Good work guys. I had heaps of fun. I hope you guys did too and I hope you tour Australia again. Love you all, you all rock.

Thanks to Chris Tassell: Was fuckin rough but sick. Was off fuckin guts too... I've seen Metallica, Pearl Jam, and just recently Motley Crue (with Motorhead...who were fuckin better than Crue) on that same stage, and V fuckin R blew all those cunts away..

Thanks to Michelle Le Vesconte: Velvet Revolver. The name now sends shivers up my spine more than it ever did. I could not believe I was there, I could not believe I was so close to Duff and Slash. Slash's sweat dripped on me and I was fucking wrapped. That man is a GOD oozing charisma and ripping shit on every guitar. Duff is buff! He looks absolutely brilliant and you could tell he was having a good time. Dave, Matt and Scott, I love you too but there is a special place in my heart for Duff and especially Slash. Now for the music...how tight can you get? The best rock band I have heard in the last ten years. Truely amazing rock, the kind of rock that was dying has been revived and improved upon by these five men. Sexy, filthy, dirty, bitchin fucking ROCK. Yee fucken Ha! Thanks Velvet Revolver, don't ever say die or goodbye. You are truely loved.

Thanks to SlashRocks: Fucking unbelievable...was in the front row of the mosh and the music was powerful, clear and skilled ..blew me away. Got Slash's guitar pick too :)

Thanks to Peter Cullen: The best fucking show ever. The whole band was absolutely the most professional thing I've ever seen. And at the end, I got Slash's pick and for an up-and coming guitarist what more would you want. Scott sang like a trooper, Matt kept time like a machine and Duff and Dave held the band together like super glue. This meant Slash could go crazy and boy did he. What a legend. The highlight would be either, "Fall To Pieces, It's So Easy or Slither" great show, and I'll treasure Slash's pick always!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Bridget: The gig rocked, can't add much to what's already been said, the GNR boys are always awesome, and Scott blew me away..the boy sure can move. My fave part came after the gig when I was lucky enough to meet them at the hotel and me and my little sister were invited in by "Matt" yep the drummer ;) to join the party inside at the bar. Words can't describe my night, I just wanna say Matt rocks!!! Thanks dude and Slash is the alltime guitar god..and so cool to his fans the guys made our night. :D Scott wasn't there..he was in his room feeling sick :( and Duff wasn't there either unfortunately..not sure about the other dude from the band???

Thanks to Scott Mcadam: Forty minutes had gone by and the lights finally went out then their was a roar of screams when all we could see was darkness. But their was no music besides people on stage with torches. Their seemed to be technical difficultes which added to a higher suspense. 3 minutes went by then the lights exploded on and Slash started playing Sucker Train Blues. Scott came out with his pilot hat and aviators while he was wearing a suit which looked very cool. They then launched into "Do It For The Kids" which was magnificant. During the set they exploted into 2 Stone Temple Pilots songs whicb were "Crackerman" and "Sex Type Thing" which were moments that I'll never forgot I was recharged with energy. After they played a brilliant 'Set Me Free' they then walked off stage. The lights on the back of the set were flashing Velvet Revolver and the crowd were obeying by screaming those words out. They walked back on stage and Slash and Scott sat on seats as the launched into a Guns N Roses classic 'Used To Love Her.' After the Guns N Roses fans were happy. Slash then went over to his guitar stand and got a double neck guitar which he played a memorable "You Got No Right". They then walked off stage again. The crowd was in confusion if they were going to come back out. But I knew they had to play their powerful song "Slither" and indeed they did and they left the stage with the crowd on a high. 10/10 more than I ever wanted

Thanks to James: I had seen clips of the bands live peformance before but it seemed that Mr. Weiland had totally re-invented himself and gone extra crazy for the first show in the Australian Tour. This show was awsome from start to finish, the band and the crowd in their hand the whole time and the whole show seemed to rip through like nam insane blur. I have seen a lot of younger bands that can't rock any where near as hard as this. A 10 out of 10 show.

No Mr. Brownstone? .....Who gives a fuck!

Thanks to Graham Kiernan: Wow!! After waiting since July to see the band that made the best album I have bought for ages (Contraband) it was all worth it including the 550 km drive. The Screaming Jets who I have seen 3 times before played well but there setlist was a bit hit and miss throwing in some obsure tunes that threw the audience a bit. But better, C'mon and Blue Sashes rocked. Then came what we were all waiting for Velvet Revolver, the guys played 11 songs off the album and 4 covers from their previous groups (Sex type thing, Crackerman, It's So Easy and Used To Love Her). Highlight for my wife and I besides actually being there was hearing You Have No Right live cause they don't play it much and Used To Love her semi-unplugged. They all made the most of the stage running around like guys twice their age. It was good for us on stage right side as Duff, Slash, Scott and Dave all come over to our side many times. Duff in particular looked happy to be there and it seemed like they were trying extra hard to m press us. My main disapointment was the people of Brisbane and Queensland we travelled half the state to see these quys and the venue was only half full. I know they are only a new band but c'mon it's 3/5 Gn'R 1/4 STP and a dude who is guilty by assocation of rock god status and have one and hopefully many more kickass albums under their belt !!!

Thanks to Tracey: What a fucking great show!!!! One I will remember for the remainder of my life as high energy, rock as fuck, with seasoned musical expertise bursting at the seems.

Velvet Revolver involved themselves with the crowd, and made sure you would remember it..also by playing a couple of Stone Temple Pilots and GNR songs in there for old times sake, it felt as though all my teenage years came flooding back at once.

All in all I was so god damn impressed I had to go out and get my self absolutley written off!!!!! Great fucking night!!

Thanks to Andy: Hey mates, I think the Brisbane show was ok, but it wasn't rock f'n roll. We had to sit down before the show starts, no alcohol, no smoking. I've seen Velvet Revolver in Munich, Barcelona, London/Hammersmith, two days ago in Brisbane. The last one was the worst off all. Let's see if the next 4 Australia shows are better. There is no rock'n'roll without sex & drugs.

See ya in Sydney tonight!

Thanks to K. Jones: It was wild, it was raw - the guys sounded and looked f'n awesome! Dirty Little Thing is my fav song, but I think the highlight of the night was Big Machine.

Thanks to BrettO: Great show - although I think the venue was not the best choice - would have prefered a smaller, more intimate one. However, they still rocked from the moment they hit the stage. Pretty much played the same setlist as NZ - but NO Mr Brownstone!!

Slash still blows me away everytime I see him...

Thanks to Reflex: The Screaming Jets opened the show with a 35 minute set of some of the more obscure songs from their catalogue, closing with Better and C'mon, two of their better known songs.

Velvet Revolver came on stage and blasted through their set with Scott disappearing of stage left on three separate occasions for more than five minutes. Slash and Duff ran the show by doing most of the talking, with Scott calling us mutherfuckers a few times in between.

The setlist they played was the same as Christchurch too nights earlier, with the removal of Mr Brownstone. The guy at the sound desk needed to pull everything back as it was distorted guitar noise for the faster songs.

After about an hour and 20 minutes, including two encores, it was all over. From Scott's reaction you wouldn't know it. He simply walked off after Slither. Thanks for the wave Scott? Duff, Slash, Matt and Dave all waved, threw picks and sticks and left.

My score 7/10, but they would have got 8 if they played Mr Brownstone.

Thanks to Paul Aldridge: Setlist same as for Christchurch (my old hometown) except for the absence of Mr. Brownstone. Rock N F'N Roll Across Australia has begun. The Screaming Jets, a long established Australian band, opened, hitting the stage 8.15pm. Singer Dave Gleeson off his nut, which made for great entertainment, but only one of their reasonably well known songs was played, so the set was all in all average, lasting 45mins. Having said that it was a good warm-up for the onslaught to come.

Duff casually walked out onto the front of the stage and stood on a speaker box in total darkness (excepting for camera flashes) at 9.45pm to an amazing roar from the crowd. He stood there for a good 2-3mins while the others made their on stage. Then as hard as you like Sucker Train Blues kicked in, and so it began. Song after song of full-on energy, thumping drums, strutting, finger picks, heavy bass and a crowd who knew every word and sang it out, to the point of nearly obscuring Scott's vocals.

Before 'Do It...' Scott said 'this is one for the ladies, who we like to f**k'. Both STP songs got good reception, but having only had GNR down south in 1988 and 1993, and never in Brisbane, you knew the GNR covers were going to go off. 'It's So Easy' was sensational. Dave seemed content to hang back a fair bit, but he should get his ass up the front with the others; his playing solid and fast.

Matt hit the drums like only he does, hard and original. Duff provided the crowd link, constantly up the front, playing to the front row, pointing at people, smiling and at one stage asking security to grab a banner someone had made and bring it on stage to show Matt and Scott. Great player and great entertainer.

Slash was awesome to see so close up, at times down on boxes 5 feet way. Threw in a great solo. You know when you've seen a legend. Scott left for a short break between 'Do It...' and 'Headspace', for unknown reasons. After the show, he wouldn't sign autographs at the stage door, because he said he was feeling like crap, which could have been the reason for his break. Mind you, you wouldn't have known it during the set, confident, up front and solid.

Great to see stools brought out for 'Used To...' and 'You Got...', which were partially acoustic.

Further encore for Slither, but no Mr. Brownstone, which was the only letdown, but hey no complaints.

Got Matt to sign my ticket after the show and he talked alot with 10 or so fans before heading off to the 'crib' as he called it (lack of info always good I imagine). Got one of Duff's picks as well. Unreal night...f**kin awesome. Photos to come at a later date.

Thanks to Stephanie Ziering: The Screaming Jets sounded great last night with Dave Gleeson putting on a charismatic display. When Velvet Revolver hit the stage I screamed like a hysterical school girl. For some reason Scott Weiland and that little leather hat of his makes me feel rather randy as do his gyrating movements. When Scott dedicated a song to "all the little girls who like to FUCK " I squealed with sheer excitment once again. It was a very surreal experience to actually be in the same venue as these Rock Gods as I never thought I would ever get the oppurtunity to see these legends live. My personal highlight of the concert besides Scott's "little girls who like to fuck " comment would have to be "Sex Type Thing". That absolutely rocked !!!!! Scott Weiland your the sexiest creature I have ever seen!

Thanks to David Pemberton: The lights went out, shadows moved in the dark, the crowd began to roar, then...WHAM! The lights came out there was Duff, there was Slash and the rest of the band! It was unbelievable! Sweat dripped of the band members as they rocked the **** out of the crowd. Slash looked like a god standing there shirtless, rocking like only he knows how too. He doesn't looked like he's aged a bit cause of his hair always hanging over his face. Scott was great and his voice sounded as clear and good as ever. Duff looked like he was really enjoying himself with his many smiles to the crowd throught the show. Matt was like Bruce Lee with those drum sticks and sounded killer!

There were many Gunners fans in the audience (myself included) and we were treated to "It's So Easy" (my highlight of the night) and "Used To Love Her". I was disappointed that there was no Mr. Brownstone among the setlist as that's my all time favourite song. *crosses fingers for the second Sydney show* "Sex Type Thing" and "Crackerman" were awesome and rocked pretty hard.

All in all, it was a sweaty, loud, high energy, ROCKING evening. The crowd was really into it and every seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Lets see what Sydney and Melbourne have to offer now!

ROCK ON
