Reviews (30) [ send in your own review/pictures of the Ottawa show ]

Thanks to Bryan: That show was awesome! I've been to a lot of concerts this year but that was my favorite by far. The set list was perfect with an awesome blend of Velvet Revolver, GNR and STP. Highlight of the night was definitly Mr. Brownstone. I never expected to hear my favorite GNR song live.

Thanks to Tyler M: Fucking awesome I don't care that I had to wait 30 minutes extra. Because the show they put on made up for all the b.s in my life. It was just so damn good I couldn't hear for like a week and I was so tired the next day. But who gives a fuck if you get to see Velvet Revolver. Out of it there the best fucking band.

Thanks to Stephane Myre: The show was great. The sound was excellent but LOUD! We were on the floor in the front but moved back mid-show. The energy was great. People seemed to love the concert. Ottawa shows rarely sell out. It's a shame because that may be the reason Ottawa doesn't get big-name artists that often. But the people that show up deserve to be there! I would like to know the name of the other opening band just before 3 days grace. They were interesting.

Thanks to Grant: The concert was f**king amazing, I don't care what the papers say, if they were front row like I was, they would have given it 5 stars. Matt's drum solo was sweet and Slash was rockin out. Best concert I have ever seen.

Thanks to Mike: Man what can I say except for FUCKIN AMAZING!!!!
Slash was great and played soooooo amazing he is my hero. GO Slash lol but ya I got nothin except for amazing to say about this band loud (the way I like it) and non stop rock 3DG was also very good (I saw them once before with Nickelback). I couldn't hear for three days after the show lol sooo good anyways. THANKS FOR THE GREAT SHOW GUYS HOPE U COME BACK SOON~!!~

Thanks to Steve: Great show, Slash was great as always, thank god they played Brownstone. My all time fav GN'R song, also I saw some guy get his head kicked in in the mosh. Overall great show, Duff is awesome and Slash too.

Thanks to Sam: Omg I can't believe how great Slash was up there. Like I was sitting pretty close maybe 20 feet tops (away) but shit it was awesome. It's like the 1st concert I ever went to it was so worth it!! I was focusing on Slash like the whole time. Slash KICKS ASS!! Anyone wanna add me it's monkey_ballz_4u@hotmail.com

Thanks to Howard Lunt: I live in the US and my girlfriend lives in Ottawa. I wanted her to have a chance to see my contemporary legends like Slash, Scott and the rest of the crew from GNR. It was an amazing show...loud and precise. I was dissappointed in the turnout and yet they put on a show as if the place was sold out. Tons of energy. This is the only Velvet Revolver show that I have been to thus far and I hope that the US venues are bringing in more people..they deserve it. I hope the band is keeping themselves as clean as they can. There is way too much talent and passion in these guys to let it go to waste!!! Keep Rockin!!

Thanks to Francine Levinetz: Excellent show, huge energy. Never seen anything like it. Velvet Revolver rocks.

The only thing I didn't like about it was the hour plus wait between Three Days Grace and V.R. Other than that, fabulous.

Thanks to Matt D: This show was F**KING AWESOME! I was there with my brother and we both had a great time. The first act was some crappy band called The Mark and I never want to hear them again. Three Days Grace were good and got the whole place worked up. Velvet Revolver kicked ass! They all played great and Scott was a ball of energy. The best songs of the night were Fall to Pieces, Slither, Sucker Train Blues and Mr. Brownstone. It was so loud that my ears are still ringing. I had a great view of my hero Slash and I watched him all night. His solos were played with a ton of emotion and he sounded great. This was my first big rock concert and I'll never forget it. Velvet Revolver ROCKS!!!!!

Thanks to Justin: The show was great. The band was in prime form and sounded amazing. Slash may have had a bit of a weak night but he was probably let down by all of the empty seats. Hard to believe that an amazing band like Velvet Revolver can't get more of a turnout but then again they write and sing all of their own songs and actually play their own instruments.

Thanks to Will: Bloody good, easily the best performance I've seen in a while, the stage presence and sheer electricity emenating from the band made it an experience I will never forget. I definitely recommend going, I promise you won't regret it.

Thanks to Brian: The show was awesome. Maybe the best concert I have ever been to. It was cool that everyone made eye contact with the crowd, it shows that Velvet Revolver cares about their fans. I am looking forward to the new album and going to another Velvet Revolver concert.

Thanks to Marco: I was right in front, it was nice to see some STP songs like Crackerman. The show was good, nice and loud and near the end some guy got his face punched in by this guy. I don' know why security didn't throw him out, anyways it was a way better show than Motley Crue's, Velvet Fucking Revolver was awesome. Slash as usual was note for note and Duff was great, fuck the whole band was great.

Thanks to Disco Stu: Overall, it was a pretty damn good show. The boys were on top form all night. My only problem was that I saw them play in Toronto at the Kool Haus 10 months ago, and tonight was almost the same set list (the only real difference being the inclusion of You Got No Right and them not playing Negative Creep). I know they've played different covers since then like Aerosmith's No More, No More and Surrender by Cheap Trick. Regardless, the set was still tight and still kicked some serious ass! They are the only real rock show around!

Thanks to Sierra: Man, I was probably one of the youngest on the floor, and most likely one of the shortest as well (I'm 14) but anyways, I was in general admission, and let me tell you, that concert fucking rocked! The opener of Three Days Grace was absolutly horrid, and I was glad to see them go. Three Days Grace, was pretty good too, they're alot better live than I expected. But Velvet Revolver was sooooo good. I was screaming "Scott, take it off!" all night, and thank gods he did, hehe. Anyways, some people were really unenthusiastic about the concert, there were about 4 people in front of me who stood rock solid the entire night

I thought I was going to have to throw them over the rails. The music was almost too loud, because we could hardly hear Scott at times and almost never heard Duff. From where I was, I couldn't see Slash unless on the big screen or if he was stage left, that was probably the biggest dissapointment of the entire evening, because he is probably my role model. Anyways, great show and I would definitetly go see them again.

Thanks to Eesh: A lot better than what I expected the band has absolutely amazing stage presence and Three Days Grace really pumped up the Ottawa crowd (which I had little hope for) for the band. I was RIGHT UP FRONT it fucking rocked I never ever thought I'd get so close to them!! Slash is just .. words fail me the guitar solos were so fucking good you just wanted to get lost in them. Duff and Slash back to back again I thought I'd never see that after GNR and Scott is so fucking full of energy that its exhilarating. TWO ENCORES BABY!!!

Thanks to Val Burke: This is by far one of the best concerts I've ever been to, despite the delay. The crowd was really into it (myself included), the lighting and graphics were amazing, and of course the band was phenominal! 3 Days Grace also did a great set.

Thanks to Lexxeny: Enjoyed the show enormously. I was a concert virgin prior to going to their show. I am glad I lost it to them. No other band or artist interested me enough to go see their concert. After attending last nights concert I will definately check them out again.

Thanks to Steve LaRue: I went to the show in Ottawa last night w/ my brother Dave. The band came on stage rather late. I think it was about 930 and about an hour or more after Three Days Grace. Maybe they were waiting for the Corel Centre to fill up b/c I'd estimate the total at somewhere between 3,000 to 5,000, and that's being generous. If you didn't go to this show you missed one hell of a ROCK SHOW!!!! Velvet Revolver did not disappoint. I went to Motley Crue about 3 weeks ago at the same venue and I dare say their sound was much louder. I still can't hear. Anyway, the band had massive energy and the vibe was amazing and very infectious. The setlist was already posted so I won't go into that. Nothing new anyway. I can't say enough good things about the show. To hell w/ rap or anything else that's out there. This is what ROCK N FUCKIN ROLL is all about!! I would go see them again in a heartbeat. I only hope they come to Ottawa, despite the very small crowd. But, if not I'll travel to see them. They were flawless. I loved everything about the show. Rock on Fellas!!!

Thanks to Daniel Bergamini: It was amazing! They played loud and hard! But the wait for the Velvet Revolver was long and we had to sit threw to opening acts by some crap heavy metal bands! Scott Weiland was amazing along with Slash and the rest they all played amazing! I hope they come back some time!

Thanks to Ethan: Holy shit that was the best night of my life. I was second row and everything was insane. Scott Weiland is an amazing performer and well for Slash, he was at his usual fucking excellence.

Thanks to Alex K: Well I got in the Corel Centre around 5 and waited for a while, then when the doors opened we all went in. Of course I was in the mosh, Three Days Grace put on a good show, but Velvet Revolver was amazing. Velvet Revolver opened with Sucker Train Blues, anyways I cannot remember the order but they did play "Used to love her" and "Mr Brwnstone" and the final encore was Slither. The funny thing was in the mosh, these tards started to push me around and my brother beat the shit out of these guys during the solo in Slither it was hilarious. There was this big circle that formed when previously you couldn't move in the pit, anyways it was awesome. Slash, Duff, Matt, Dave, Scott were all amazing, hopefully I will see them live again.

Thanks to Jim The Stimulator: Wow! This show was amazing! It had to be the loudest concert I ever went to. I'm still deaf as I write this and it's been 10 hours since the concert finished (no joke!). I was standing just outside of the mosh pit and I had a great view.

The highlights of the show were: Sucker Train Blues, Crackerman, Fall To Pieces, It's So Easy, Sex Type Thing, You Got No Right, Used To Love Her, Mr. Brownstone, and of course Slither. Oh, and all of the hot girls here :-)

I was surprised by the craziness of the notoriously conservative Ottawa crowd. All in all, an awesome concert! The best concert I've ever been to.

Thanks to Sylvain: Hey guys!!!! I had a great evening last night, Velvet Revolver rock the Corel Center big time. They played a few GNR and STP songs and a lot of new stuff that I never heard before.

I loved the whole show and it made me want to get their album. I enjoyed all the solos by Slash and would go back to see them any time. I saw a few booby flash!!!!!!! The good old Rock & Roll scene.

On the negative side, there was not that many people so the crowd was not loud like other shows that I been too. The good thing about that is that there were a lot of seats available so if you got tired in general admission, you had a lot of spare chairs.

Thanks to MikeB: Wow, wow and wow. I'm soar, my ears are still ringing and still can't believe what a great show these guys put on.

By far one of the best shows I've been to. Dave, Matt, Scott, Slash and Duff are flawless musicians. Nothing over-done with total consitantcy. Energy and talent make up this band. End of story

For me, the show started in right in the middle of all the action in the first couple of feet in front of the stage. Shit hit the fan when the guys broke into "Headspace". Everybody was very rowdy but kept things friendly. A nice shout-out to my "It's So Easy" buddy. You know who you are.

"Superhuman", "Illegal I", "Dirty Little Thing" and "Big Machine" where the "Contraband" tunes that really hit home with everybody. The best sing-along of the night was "Fall to Pieces" which made the song that much more special.

"Crackerman", "Sex Type Thing", "It's So Easy", and "Mr. Brownstone" certainly got everybody jumping. But, the highlight for me definatly was "Used to Love Her". After hearing bootleg after bootleg of this tour and hearing it being played acoustic/electric, it was such a pleasent suprise to hear Slash rip in to it with his full-blown electric sound. You could compare it to the version off of the GNR Live CD, but it was much better and a lot heavier. Off the charts. It made my night that much better. The show closing with "Used to Love Her", "Mr. Brownstone" and "Slither" (with Scott's trash talking and added vocal harmony during the intro...way cool!) is just perfect.

Hot women. Everywhere. Flashing. Dancing. Good GAWD! It was a good night for that.

On a side note, I'm not sure how new these are, but Slash new (to me) tattoo's are killer. He now has "Slash" across his stomach and the Revolver girl on his right inner forarm.

In closing, I'd like to say something about the city I live in (Ottawa), the people and the media. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I got to see Revolver on this night in my neck of the woods. If it didn't happen here, I would have travelled for it. Either way, what I'm trying to say is, this town didn't deserve Velvet Revolver. Besides radio promo, that was about the only thing this city did right. Most of the people (excluding the hardcore rockers) where bitching and complaining about how late they were getting the show going. Okay, excitment is one thing, but acting as if it's past your F*CKING bed time is another. As for the news papers, most reviews were okay, but it was pretty much the same story... and I quote "Velvet Revolver hit it loud and hard but was it enough to make up for the 30 minute delay?" It seems to me that when people fork over money to buy tickets, they expect everything to be on a tight schedule to fit in with their 8 p.m. visit to Starbucks in this friggin' city. Get a life and get out more you bunch of #$$%#^'s!! So to Velvet Revolver and the out-of-towners who came to see the show, don't think I'm proud of what you might have seen of heard of the show. It looked like unless you were right in front of the stage, you were there to sip on tea.

So, everything that's negative about the entire night has nothing to do with music which goes to show you how much ass these guys pound. This will not be the last time I buy a ticket to see these guys. In town, Canada or the US, I'll see em' down the road sooner than later.

Two well deserved thumbs up for the rock show these motherfuckers put on!

Thanks to Adam: Holy shit. Best show ever!!!!! I was front row and Scott was callin me a crazy motherfucker and they all performed their asses off just after the Montreal concert. Great great show. Opening bands weren't good but Velvet Revolver pulled through kicking ass. Slash hit up the talkbox and did a hell of a job. Sorum's solo was awesome.

Thanks to MC Marc-AlX: That was the best show I've ever seen! All the show we were shouting Dave and he always come to see us! We were on the side of the stage and during Slither, Scott came in the grades and we sing the last verse with him!!!! THAT WAS AWESOME!!!! THANKS TO Velvet Revolver TO BE REAL ROCKSTAR WHO CARE ABOUT THEIR FANS! Only regret: Slash you deceived me, I know you played in front of 200,000 person before but you could have cared a little bit more about the fans....

Good Show!

Thanks to Chris D: The show was great if you were there to see your heros. The sound was a bit too loud and the EQ was more tuned to the high frequencies which I found drowned out Scott and Slash. It was much better than a show I had been to at Kool Haus in TO which was retarded loud. I love loud but there's a fine line between good loud and bad loud. Now I don't want to compare the live sound to a band that Slash was in before but it doesn't compare to the production.

THE CROWD - hmm very lame very low energy - during the encore the electronic light display that flashed continiously VEL VET RE VOLVER in order to get the crowd to chant for an encore recieved almost zero response. I found myself and a few others chanting but the floor was no into it.

I flew from Halifax to see this show and I must say I was very discouraged by the crowd energy. And a mere 4010 people showed up - Ottawa way too conservative? Maybe it was because there were not enough STP and GNR and even better Velvet Revolver fans that really appreciated the caliber of who was preforming before them. Too many 16 - 20 yr old kids that for the most part just didn't get it.

The boys of Velvet Revolver held strong and rocked very hard with a lot of energy considering the audiences unrequieted love.

Thanks to barndog 666: Vel-vet-Revol-ver kicked my ass. I'm still hurting from the pit. Awesome show one if not the best pure rock shows I've ever seen. The crowd was into every song and really helped each other out, I saw a kid maybe 14 fall in the pit and 3 people rushed to help him up. I've seen concerts in other cities but I find Ottawa has the best rock crowd anywhere. The band sound was great and the amount of energy they put out was just insane. I will be seeing these guys again for sure. An amazing night for everyone in attendance.
