Thanks to Marissa Walters: I couldn't believe how much Velvet Revolver rocked at that concert. Scott totally stirred up the crowd when he ran into the crowd and sang "Sex Type Thing" that is my favorite Stone Temple Pilots song. All I can say is Velvet Revolver fuckin rocks!!

Thanks to Carlos Raurell: My totally awesome neighbor, Charlotte, asked me if I wanted to go with her and her friend, Sue, to the show. I accepted her generous invitation and had a wonderful time. The band played most if not all of its hits in the course of their roughly two hour set. The band also covered Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here quite nicely. As Slash proclaimed at one point in the show, Velvet Revolver is the best rock & roll band around these days. Perhaps the band played with added intensity and excitement because Palm Beach was the last stop on their US tour. Whatever the reason for the band's high energy, I feel very lucky to have attended the show and witnessed such a kickass display of face-melting rock & roll. I had to take the day after the show off of work.

Thanks to Leslie Gray Streeter from the Palm Beach Post: One sure telltale sign of a masterful musical performer - and there are many - is that the singer can entertain the holy heckfire out of the crowd, whether or not they know all the words to his songs - or any, for that matter. An ace showman can hold an audience in thrall with merely the expert shake of his leather-encased hips and a coy smirky smile that says, "You belong to me now. And you ain't gonna regret it."

Ladies and gents, I give you Scott Weiland, veteran rock 'n' roll survivor and the ringmaster of the loud, profane, confidently tight and booming Velvet Revolver. Weiland, former frontman for Stone Temple Pilots and his bandmates, mostly refugees from bad-boy greats Guns N' Roses, started last night's Sound Advice Amphitheatre set at a late-ish 9:45, but there wasn't a thing rushed or haphazard about it. No, these are vets and they know what they're doing.

Watch the master and learn.

"This song is really about naughty little girls - like you, you and you in the front row," Weiland honey-dripped in his intro to Superhuman, eliciting squeals and screams from... every naughty big or little girl in the whole joint. See, this guy is good.

And it's not just Weiland, who has the operatic showman soul of Freddie Mercury and the hips of Sid Vicious. Drummer Matt Sorum tore up the skins like a crazy man, while guitarist Slash's trademark curly massive mane didn't distract from his focused playing.

Before Velvet Revolver, opening acts Modern Day Zero and Hoobastank exhibited the sliding scale of rock mastery. Modern Day Zero proved that just because you're loud doesn't mean you're all that interesting, while the infinitely more entertaining Hoobastank, led by the lithe and insanely ripped Dave Robb, showed a penchant for tightly played rock, colorful language and politeness. After rocking out to final number, Disappear, he neatly folded the band's set lists before tossing them to the crowd, then followed with leftover bottles of water. Aww!

Robb was also responsible for one of the night's funnier moments. Leading into big ballad The Reason he asked how many people present were Journey fans. No takers. But when the band started into a sweet acousticky version of the big-haired classic, everybody sang along.

"You know all the g---- words!" Robb yelled.

Thanks to Jenna: That show was awesome! I've never seen anything like that before! I had a kick ass time and I got to meet really cool people! Especially this one girl who dressed up as Slash and really fucking looked like him! I just want to know if anyone saw her she was fucking awesome, people kept asking her to pose for pics and she was really cool about it! I wish Slash would have seen that it was so unreal! I think he would had freaked out! Hey Slash you sure you don't have a missing daughter?! Anyways the show totally rocked!

Thanks to Jay: The show was fantastic! Better than I thought it would be. Thrilled to hear they will return to WPB on 09/04/05 (Ozzfest). See ya then!

Thanks to Trevor Falk: Velvet Revolver started out strong, with a murky, strange entrance, but soon busted into a great concert starter. Their backdrop started with a sign saying "Rock and Fuckin' Roll", but that sign dropped down about halfway throught the show, revealing a giant, flashing Velvet Revolver sign. Scott sang a perfect show and made very good use of a megaphone. But I didn't quite understand what he was doing when he went to the side of the stage, in the middle of one of the songs, and started messing with a keyboard-like noise maker. Slash had a 5-min Talk-box solo, which was awesome, and he and Dave had dueling guitar solos during Slither. Matt threw out plenty of sticks and Duff was just being a killer bassist. Overall, it was an amazing show, in which they expanded beyond their debut CD and tied many different elements into together.

Thanks to Joe: Holy hell it rocked!!!! Slash, Duff, Scott and the rest of the band were fucking awesome!! I can't wait to see them again next year!!!

Thanks to WalkingARazor: AWESOME friggin' show!!! Last of the American dates of the Electric Wonderland Tour. Best I've ever seen. I was supposed to be sitting about where the box seats were towards the side, but I ended up 4th row center because of some awesome folks and friends letting us squeeze in with them. We snuck in my tiny little digital camera and took 90 or so pictures (I'm hoping they come out good, I'll send 'em to Rik). It was a quite a rockin' blur, but some highlights were Scott's faces, his control of the crowd, him running out into the box seats during "Sex Type Thing", Scott throwing an open bottle of Gatorade into the crowd, and Scott twirling around someone's bra. (Yeah, I kinda only paid attention to Scott. His clothes were totally awesome too!) Some dude also tried to climb the "rigging", making the lights rock. Dave was looking up at them rocking and watching security pull the guy down. The whole band sounded great. "Mr. Brownstone", "Slither" and "Sex Type Thing" were totally awesome, my faves of the night. At the end of the show after Scott left the stage, Doug Robb (Hoobastank's singer) came out and dramatically kissed and hugged the band. This one really wasted dude made off with Scott's megaphone. (No one took it back from him either. My friend Paul and I were contemplating beating him up for it.) This guy was running around the pit singing "Dead & Bloated" into it, then he slipped and ended up flat on his back. He was setting the siren off in the parking lot. I was jealous.....but I ended up getting a reversible Velvet Revolver beanie.

Hope you enjoyed my horribly unstructured review. I'll remember more later, but most likely won't add to this. So....eh.

Thanks to Raymond: The show was fucking awesome. There weren't that many people there, which was cool because the place wasn't stuffed up. Scott came into the audience, maybe 30 rows into the crowd with his megaphone, during Sex Type Thing. The rest of the band was great, Slash did some amazing things. So did Dave. One cool thing that happened was I met one of the sound engineers named Andy. He gave some after show party passes. There was no party, but I got to meet Slash, Duff, Dave and the drummer from Linkin Park. Got to hang out with some really amazing people, different techs that work for the bands. My son got to meet Slash's son. It was amazing.

Thanks to Elaine: The show was so fucking amazing!!! My friend and I had a fucking blast! These guys know how to totally rock! We were so lucky we got to meet Scott at his hotel, he was really sweet, a bit tired, but he took the time to take some pics and signed an autograph. Thanks a lot Scotty if you are reading this! Velvet Revolver RULZ!!!

Thanks to Tyler Durden: This show seriously rocked. From the opening song (Sucker Train) all the way to the closing song (Slither), the band was playing with lots of energy. Good crowd interaction throughout the show, but the highlight was definitely during 'Sex Type Thing' when Scott went out to the middle of the audience w/ his megaphone and got the crowd going crazy. Came out of the encore break with a good version of 'Wish You Were Here', then Slash nailed the solo on 'You Got No Right' and they had a perfect closing with Brownstone and 'Slither'. Doug Rob from Hoobastank came out and gave the band hugs during the end of Slither and you could really tell that no one wanted the tour to be over. Great RnR show!!
